We were there for almost three hours because the service was so slow. We witnessed other diners leave because they had not been served. Not a good experience.
A very pleasant dinner. My only comment is that for a restaurant in 2019 not to have sweetener or Stevia for those who don’t want sugar in their coffee strikes me as an indication of a sign of lack of concern for its customers
Brilliant value resto in the middle of residential Notting HIll.
Excellent fresh ingredients on a small but perfectly formed set menu at less than £20 which includes
a sparkling aperitif. These people are on form and serve customers excellently.
Great Monday dinner. Shame restaurant was so empty. Not sure why as food and service was great
Having visited for valentines evening I had the special. The service was very slow, understaffed.
Poor attention to the small details. 2 glasses of champagne never arrived. Overall an overpriced and disappointing evening.
The food was nice (fresh oysters, tasty sea bass) but not very interesting. They should work a bit harder on their vegetables. One waiter didn’t know anything about wine but the Maître d’ was kind enough to change a mediocre bottle. Very charming gesture, very much appreciated.
Had a lovely meal in this beautiful restaurant. Was sad to learn that it’s closing in the near future. Highly recommend.
A good restaurant, but not the first I would recommend when visiting London. There are much better places in and around Kensington. The service was a little pushy. Also the restaurant smelled very strongly of fish.
OK venue, pleasant staff, good food but a tad over-priced on the wine
Good but portion size disappointing
Great lunch. Place was busy, but service still stayed very quick and friendly.
Booked late table for dinner on Thursday. Menus are great value for money and food is great and freshly cooked. We opted to have their evening standard menu with glass of wine. Food was delicious and simple, perfect for cold evening. Service superb and not intrusive, but always felt they there is waiter around if we would need anything. We will be back soon for more.
I have been going to KP longer than I care to remember and seen it in many incarnations from the heyday with Rowley Leigh and through all the ups and downs. Our latest visit was very enjoyable. The food was good the atmosphere pleasant and the service was fine. The menu offers something for everyone and has a great selection for fish lovers. Wine mark ups are the usual 3+ and whilst our Bordeaux red was good at c£60 quite expensive. For 3 people x 2 courses + wine and water came in at £150 - £50 each. KP is an institution of the London dining scene and the planned redevelopment of the area may see it disappear. I for one will miss it.
Fish and chips was lovely , child’s menu also came with juice and ice-cream - great value for quality food!
We sometimes had to struggle to get our waiter’s attention and his manner was a bit offhand - for example, he’d been eating something and was still chewing when he took out order. Apart from that, the food was great.
We had their steak welldone and it was so buttery and nice. Really nice ambiance and service.
Great food and great service, I great dining experience
I visit kensington place regularly as it is my local neighbourhood restaurant and I like it every time. I enjoy the simple, well cooked food and pleasant service. I would recommend it!
Great local restaurant to catch up with long it seen friends. Fresh seafood and friendly staff
Terrible service. I used to go here for years but the place has really gone downhill. Food very average and service is awful. Two things I ordered never arrived then they tried to add stuff to my bill at the end. DO NOT GO ...
Half an hour to be served the wine. Another half hour until starters arrived. Yet another half hour until mains arrived. Didn't bother with dessert.
So sad that the service and/or kitchen was so slow, after many years of enjoyable meals.
Great fresh seafood
Went for brunch and already booked in for another.
I go to Kensington Place regularly. They always do a set lunch menu and often it's very good. Good value 2 or 3 courses. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked and the chips are delcious!
Great location Close to Notting Hill tube. Good seafood fresh seafood. Added benefit of a seafood shop in same location. Set lunch menu price is a good deal. Seem to have lost a bit of the energy it used to have but this could be due to us having Saturday lunch. Service could be more inspired, almost had to walk over to the staff to get their attention
No battered fish on set menu! So disappointed
we had the evening standard menu which is fine as this is a fish based restaurant the whitebait and cod were well prepared but you needs some sides too. The service was a little disorganized fine as the restaurant began to fill up with a couple of groups. The only downside is the cleanliness of the toilets. They had overflowing bins of paper towels and towels on the floor. They need to check them more frequently.
Locale molto bello con personale competente e disponibile. Pesce ottimo. Abbiamo optato per il menu da 3 portate , incluso un bicchiere di vino , a 20 £ e abbiamo mangiato : cocktail di gamberi, filetto di baccalà alla piastra con limone e germogli di piselli e crumble di mele.
Tutto molto buono
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and beautifully cooked very fresh fish. Have been coming to this restaurant for many years and it always impresses
Had a lovely relaxed seafood lunch here which was very good value with the Evening Standard offer. The food was fresh and healthy, and the restaurant has a bright and pleasant ambience.
A simple menu plus a number of featured offers - excellent value for money!
I have eaten many times at Kensington Place full menu and evening standard offer each year. This time food was poor.
Insipid liver parfait - runny and too pungent - over sweet jam. Main course steak arrived over cooked and without fries. When the second one arrived it was barley flavoursome meat and fries were limp. Side orders over priced and spinach was awful, a damp splodge covered in some kind of sauce, salad was ratty and limp. Booked potatoes were just plain. Friend fish was plain and uninspired.
We skipped dessert.
What happened here??
Excellent neighbourhood restaurant with interesting seasonal menu
We had a special lunc 3 course menu. Good tasty food but the main cause portions are small and do not include a side dish so you have to buy it separately
Second dinner in Kensington Place after a very good first dinner. Service was consistently good, however the quality of food was unexpectedly disappointing, the muscles were not fresh, miles away from my first experience.
Nice place to eat.
A great place for lunch. Bright, spacious with suitably attentive staff.
Excellent fish for both parties. Good service. Not the greatest ambience but well worth it for the food
My spouse and I went to this restaurant for a mid-week dinner. The seafood was fresh and the waiter/ess were attentive. We would recommend this restaurant as we had wonderful evening out.
Had Easter Sunday Lunch with family. Although actual menu was different from that shown on internet, items were all replaced satisfactorily. We had a lovely afternoon. Thanks!
Professional and kind service. Significant improvement from last visit.
