We had their steak welldone and it was so buttery and nice. Really nice ambiance and service.
Great food and great service, I great dining experience
Great local restaurant to catch up with long it seen friends. Fresh seafood and friendly staff
Terrible service. I used to go here for years but the place has really gone downhill. Food very average and service is awful. Two things I ordered never arrived then they tried to add stuff to my bill at the end. DO NOT GO ...
Half an hour to be served the wine. Another half hour until starters arrived. Yet another half hour until mains arrived. Didn't bother with dessert.
So sad that the service and/or kitchen was so slow, after many years of enjoyable meals.
Great fresh seafood
Went for brunch and already booked in for another.
I go to Kensington Place regularly. They always do a set lunch menu and often it's very good. Good value 2 or 3 courses. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked and the chips are delcious!
Great location Close to Notting Hill tube. Good seafood fresh seafood. Added benefit of a seafood shop in same location. Set lunch menu price is a good deal. Seem to have lost a bit of the energy it used to have but this could be due to us having Saturday lunch. Service could be more inspired, almost had to walk over to the staff to get their attention
we had the evening standard menu which is fine as this is a fish based restaurant the whitebait and cod were well prepared but you needs some sides too. The service was a little disorganized fine as the restaurant began to fill up with a couple of groups. The only downside is the cleanliness of the toilets. They had overflowing bins of paper towels and towels on the floor. They need to check them more frequently.
Locale molto bello con personale competente e disponibile. Pesce ottimo. Abbiamo optato per il menu da 3 portate , incluso un bicchiere di vino , a 20 £ e abbiamo mangiato : cocktail di gamberi, filetto di baccalà alla piastra con limone e germogli di piselli e crumble di mele.
Tutto molto buono
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and beautifully cooked very fresh fish. Have been coming to this restaurant for many years and it always impresses
A simple menu plus a number of featured offers - excellent value for money!
I have eaten many times at Kensington Place full menu and evening standard offer each year. This time food was poor.
Insipid liver parfait - runny and too pungent - over sweet jam. Main course steak arrived over cooked and without fries. When the second one arrived it was barley flavoursome meat and fries were limp. Side orders over priced and spinach was awful, a damp splodge covered in some kind of sauce, salad was ratty and limp. Booked potatoes were just plain. Friend fish was plain and uninspired.
We skipped dessert.
What happened here??
Excellent neighbourhood restaurant with interesting seasonal menu
We had a special lunc 3 course menu. Good tasty food but the main cause portions are small and do not include a side dish so you have to buy it separately
Second dinner in Kensington Place after a very good first dinner. Service was consistently good, however the quality of food was unexpectedly disappointing, the muscles were not fresh, miles away from my first experience.
Nice place to eat.
A great place for lunch. Bright, spacious with suitably attentive staff.
Excellent fish for both parties. Good service. Not the greatest ambience but well worth it for the food
My spouse and I went to this restaurant for a mid-week dinner. The seafood was fresh and the waiter/ess were attentive. We would recommend this restaurant as we had wonderful evening out.
Had Easter Sunday Lunch with family. Although actual menu was different from that shown on internet, items were all replaced satisfactorily. We had a lovely afternoon. Thanks!
Professional and kind service. Significant improvement from last visit.
Great dinner last night. Thoroughly enjoyed food and the service was attentive and friendly.
went for dinner with a friend and food and service was lovely. A special mention to the manager, Imants, who looked after us so well and found it was my friend's birthday and organized a candle with her dessert. Will definitely be back!
Great place for date. Very fresh oysters and good priced as well.. Service was top notch, and great sticky toffee pudding made end of meal delightful. We will be back soon
It was great to come back for second time after months and enjoy amazing meal like at first time. Server's are very welcoming and nice people. Definitely will come back for the third time.
The food was amazing! The fish was so fresh. The staff were polite and helpful. We had an amazing evening. Can't wait to book there again!
Good service, great atmosphere and terrific seafood
We visited on Sunday for a catch up with group of friends. Excellent food - especially for a pescatarian. Great fish options, good service and nice buzz. It has been my favorite for years!
Such a lovely meal at Kensington Place. Staff were friendly and the food was delicious, fish pie was the best I've had in a long time. Can't wait to return for another amazing evening!
This is not the Kensington Place of old that I remember replete with celebs. It is now does a good fish and chips (light batter) reasonably priced, but has the atmosphere of a canteen.
Standards have been slipping at this once favourite restaurant for some time. Now clearly needs some care and attention. Staff turnover is higher than it should be and the service now lacks any charm. On this trip the usual bread was not offered, the fish choices were at an all time low and the standard of the cooking was just passable. In all a long way away from the previously high standards. Improve or await a slow death I’m afraid.
We eat here regularly but this is the first time we've been on a Friday night. We were disappointed that the lovely bread which used to be a feature of KP is now no longer offered, and there didn't seem to be enough staff to cope with the number of diners. Food arrived before our aperitif, getting more wine and water took several minutes before we could attract the waiter's attention and although our table from Wednesday was cancelled at the last moment and we were promised 'something nice' if we rebooked nothing was offered. Bit of a let-down really. We'll go back mid week and see if that makes a difference.
My partner took me there for my birthday lunch. The service was okay but it was devoid of any ambience. The people who were serving looked like they should be working in the kitchen. It just left an awful lot to be desired.
As has long been our experience as a regular diner here, the food and ambiance are very good and enjoyable. The only issue we have raised before is while the staff are very pleasant, there is not one waiter that looks after a table. Of course it is fine for others to deliver, but we find on most visits, even when the restaurant is not full, that we have to repeatedly try to wave down any passing staff and repeat ourselves sometimes for a simple request. Customers and probably the staff would probably all benefit for better coordinate and oversight of how tables are covered. Though often frustrating, we return with managed expectations.
an extremely pleasant lunch. nicely decorated , cosy and comfortable restaurant. Exceptional helpful, friendly and knowledgable staff. Very welcoming. Fish a definate speciality, and nice that the restaurant also has it's own proper fishmongers shop adjoining the restaurant. The fresh fish looked very appealing. The Prawn bisque and its accompanyments were excellent, and my lemon sole was beautifully cooked on the bone. A very relaxing place to enjoy nice seafood. Nice job.
Unfortunately we waited in q quiet restaurant from 1.30-2.30 for our main course which was delicious, however. WE did not have to pay, however. This was handles very well by the assistant manager as the manager had disappeared. However, and this is the big however, this was once the most beautifully designed restaurant with top food and was lively as well as fashionable with a great crowd. Its been downgraded and is but a shadow of its former self- and it needn't be. Really a shame - really nice food but now feels like it's in an airport!
Very tasty fish and seafood. 2 course menu for a very reasonable price.
Would have expected there to be more fresh fish to choose from on the menu.
The food and atmosphere were good but it took about 20 minutes for our food order to be taken & then asked about drinks, the restaurant was probably just over half full.
