King Street Social Kitchen & Bar - Hyatt Regency Toronto
I’ve been going to Social Kitchen at the Hyatt for many years and enjoying every aspect of the meal, ambience and service.
However, this will be my last visit there.
Firstly there was no one there to greet us when it opened which was when I had reserved for.
Secondly the meal was a long time coming though I wouldn’t have minded, had the meal been good.
It was terrible. The food, salmon and beef brisket were both terribly overcooked and tasteless. I would have to guess that they were previously cooked and reheated.
The vegetables were over boiled and frankly the food was no better than cafeteria food, and I’ve actually had better cafeteria food in my day.
Extremely poor value for money and.....NEVER...again.
A bit of a hidden gem in the hotel "basement". A lovely spot for a quality meal with good service, especially as a pre-theatre stop. Can recommend the Prix Fixe side of the menu as it includes wine. But more is easily purchased if need be.
Always a pleasure. Good food, good service, good ambient!
Reservation cancelled by OpenTable because they got a large party they wanted
to accommate instead of honoring the reservation !!!
Made weeks in advance cancelled one day before set date ####
My wife and I were having a great time. I was very impressed with the food and service. Classy modern place.
My complaint would be the Wagjag offer. "$180.00 3course meal for two discounted to $89.00, order from the main menu"
There's a very limited menu for Groupon or Wagjag customers. At the top it reads$45.00. it's deceiving. For $45.00 I expect steak or lobster. I ended up with chicken breast and my wife got salmon.
Unfortunately one of the worst meals we've ever had. Bought a wagjag so tried here. If we had to pay the restaurant directly on Saturday, I would have refused. There were 4 couples total in restaurant, food was poor, service slow (3 staff, 4 couples...no reason for it to take 1.5 hours to have our meal). Will never return.
Another wondererful time💋😄😄😄💘💘💘💘😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Great place if you want a quiet conversation with good service - but sometimes there are so few diners it feels deserted.
My girlfriend and I went there for valentine’s. The food and service were amazing. We will differently go back.
Went to Winterlicious 2020 and had lunch with a friend and must say that this is one of the worst food we've ever eaten and awful service.
When we first came in, the restaurant was quiet and empty, There's nobody in the front to welcome you and after a short time someone ushered us to our seat who turns out to be the waiter.
I ordered the Beef Carpaccio for appetizer, Brined Pan Seared Crispy Coho Salmon for mains and Warm Apple Blossom for dessert. The Beef Carpaccio was so so, Salmon was mediocre and the dessert was disgustingly unappetizing. In comparison McDonald's Apple Pie tasted gourmet than the restaurant's Apple Blossom.
Service was also slow even though there's only few customers since there's only 1 waiter taking the orders, bringing the food and bill.
When it's time to pay the bill, they take your credit card somewhere to swipe since they said they don't have the machine swipe. Then you're given a paper to sign and enter the tip amount and total.
To me this is already a red flag since I don't like it when I don't see my credit card being swiped.
And my gut instinct was right coz I was charged more. When I checked my credit card, it shows that they charged me for my total bill (tip included) plus they charged me again for the tip. So technically I was charged 40% tip for an awful service. Will not come back here again and will not recommend this restaurant!!!
The restaurant was in the basement of the hotel. The decor looks dead and boring. Atmosphere was dead. Look like a cheap hotel where you get free breakfast in the morning of your bu tour. When I got in there was no host at all a busser was confused when I told him I had a reservation and just took me to a random seat. My server keeps ask question but never let me answer before walking away. I ordered the winterlious menu. The entree was braised short Ribs and truffle mash... I was so disappointed with the truffle mash.... there was no truffle taste at all just plain old mash potatoes... I was waiting for my server to show up to ask how my meal was doing but it seems like he like to avoid the table. So I've decided to just eat and go cause it was late already buy time I ate half of the plate he decided to show up and ask how things were but before I even have a chance to even answer he just walks away.... the dessert was just so plain... like a mcd Strudel.... it was my first time amd will be my last time I will ever go here ever again. Waste of money the price is not worth the meal. I had better meal elsewhere for the same cost and much much much better food and services.
The atmosphere was great. The food abundant for Winterlicious and the service was also good.
I’ve been to many Winterlicious events and have to say this was not particularly good value. Food portions small, especially the salad which had maybe 5 leaves on top of 2-3 pieces of tomato and cheese...more a garnish. Gnocchi portion was ok; it was decent but not memorable and could have used more mushrooms. Strudel for dessert was excellent- 2 small pieces though (4 bites worth)
Washroom needed attention
Atmosphere was like a cafeteria. Food sub par. Gnocchi wasn’t fresh. Service was very good.
I would not recommend
We went for Winterlicious before going to the theatre and it was amazing. The food was wonderful, the staff were great and the atmosphere was beautiful. It was a memorable evening.
Amazing, I have my wedding reception there and it was great. The staff was great and I would recommend this place for sure. They made my day extra special. Thank you to everyone.
We chose from the fixed price menu for 3 courses. The food was very tasty and well presented.
This place was laughably bad. We waited 20 minutes for our appetizer, then another 35 minutes for our mains. The servers were rarely around and the place was empty. The food was so poorly prepared. We both had the carpaccio and the brisket. The beef carpaccio was drenched in olive oil with no seasoning or acid to balance out the taste. The brisket was overcooked, had no outside red/pink ring in the meat and effectively tasted like an overcooked pot roast. The vegetables accompanying that were undercooked. The dessert wasn't any better with the sticky toffee pudding being just a sponge cake with some caramel sauce and a scoop of French vanilla ice cream. Overall, this place was very bad.
N.B. I rarely review restaurants unless they are notably terrible or outstanding. The difficult part for me is that this place has so much potential - great location, fine dining ambiance and open concept loungey feel in the downstairs of the Hyatt. Unfortunatelt, the investment in the food and service are just not present.
Depending on what you are looking for, this is a good bet. It is a nice and quiet restaurant, so you can have a conversation easily. We went with a Travelzoo voucher, so portions were quite small. The beef carpaccio was good and the sticky pudding dessert was also good. I had the salmon for the main course and it was small and average tasting. Our server was AMAZING. Very accommodating and made a great martini :)
Our servers were wonderful. Food was amazing. Overall, a great experience!
Outstanding menu choices and food presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Close to all the theatres with underground parking. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind experience!
We came half an hour earlier than our reservation time and the restaurant only had 4 tables, so we asked if we could be seated and the manager told us, No because there were busy.
We didn't mind waiting, however, when we're given a menu of their Christmas menu as well as their normal menu, we could only choose Christmas menu. Please do not provide customers with normal menu if it is not available.
There were less than 10 tables and 3 waiters looked like they had no idea what they were doing and all the tables around us were complaining of their food arriving late at their table.
We had to ask for wine menu 3 times just to get it.
The food was very very bland and really dry and service was really really slow. It was not just us because all the tables were complaining about it as well and some table just left in the middle of their dinner.
When we ordered our dessert set menu from Christmas menu, which we only had 2 options of, they told us that one of them was already unavailable so we ordered their alternative dessert which was fudge cake which was fine. When it was time for the dessert, they told us fudge cake was already out as well and gave us apple crumb pie without even asking which my fiance is allergic to.
Overall, this was very unprofessional for the restaurant located at downtown hotel and it was a very bad experience for our Christmas Dinner. The price for the chrimas menu was $52 plus tax and for that price, the service was way below average. I would've got a better service at other restaurant where the price was much economical. The 3 servers were not trained at all, being unable to serve less than 10 tables.
We paid $130 + with the tip but it just was not worth it at all. It took us 2 to 2.5 hrs just to finish appetiser, main course and dessert and the amount of food was not that much anyway.
This restaurant really need to step up if it wants to stay in business and I will not be coming back
Worst service we have ever experienced. I know it was Christmas, but they had a limited prix fixe menu. They only had one waiter, a hostess and a busser and the room was almost full. It took almost half an hour to get our order in as the fellow who brought us bread would only say he was not our waiter and he would come soon. After the waiter took our order, we noticed that people who came after us were getting their appetizers. We tried to get the bread guys attention but he would walk by without looking at us, even though we were waving. We managed to get the hostess' attention and we told her we hadn't got our appetizers yet even though we had been there for an hour and a half. She went to find our appetizers and sent over the waiter. He said he had lost our 'chit' (in other words he had forgot to put in our order) but he said he would expedite our order. Our appetizers came after they had served several other tables. It's not like they had to cook each order, it was a choice between soup or salad! Same thing for the mains, we had to ask the staff if we were getting our mains, then the same again for dessert (which you could tell had been made up in advance as the fruit on the dessert was dried out.)
All in all a waste of 3.5 hours to have a mediocre prix fixe dinner at a premium price.
The atmosphere was perfect and the service was outstanding.
The minor thing is that I would have liked a bit more sides for the entree. The mash potatoes and veggies were so good I wish I had more lol.
The place looks great, the service was amazing, and very quiet/peaceful. Not to mention, the location is also very good.
There was just one problem, THE FOOD. I am no picky eater at all, but this was really bad. I ordered to Ravioli and Prawns, and my colleague ordered the Jerked Chicken on rice. The Ravioli was clearly frozen before hand, and was overbearingly sweet inside, opposed to a nice cheese, or ground beef, or pesto/basil filling. The prawns were just boiled..... no seasoning. Not even butter. The vegetables in the dish were not bad though (asparagus and tomatoes).
The Jerk Chicken was not bad.... but everything else in the plate was a NOOOOOO. Maybe because it doesn't get busy there, the garden vegetables in that dish was kind of old and everything was cooked/seasoned very poorly.
Again, THE SERVICE WAS VERY VERY VERY GOOD. The servers were very polite, always smiling, and were ready to help out immediately.
Would go back again for drinks, but not for food.
Used a groupon to eat here and it was a wonderful experience. Staff were extremely nice and friendly, service was great and food was amazing. Not to mention, extremely worth the value. Would definitely come here again.
The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was good and nicely presented. We used a travelzoo voucher so it was good value. There were no problems using the voucher.
Very kind server who made our whole experience a memorable one. I liked the calm atmosphere of the restaurant. Unfortunately the beef brisket was dry which was disappointing for a restaurant of this level. The soup and dessert was however enjoyable.
We had a fantastic meal and amazing service. Will go back.
The food took a very long time. The waitstaff was excellent but understaffed. The meal was good and about what you would expect to pay. There are too many other places I would visit in Toronto. I will not return to this restaurant.
My starter salad I had requested no olives but it came with olives. I ordered the stuffed chicken. It was extremely dry and tough. The sweet pototoe was dry, the vegetables had a strange taste. The trio creme brulee in taste was good but the sugar on top, which is supposed to be hard, was soft.
It was tasty, service was a tad slow but very courteous and friendly. Noise level was perfect
Our waitress was working pretty hard but they seemed short staffed. There was a few staff just hanging around while we waited for drinks.
A good and quiet enough place to hang out with friends. We tried the summerlicious lunch menu. Food was delicious! Satisfying portion for lunch. Service was steady paces which was fine when you’re charting with friends.
Food was good. The trout was the best. Service was poor. There was only 1 server. But only 5 tables. He was very slow. I'd go back but I'd make sure I have alot of time in case I got him again
Absolutely enjoyed my birthday here with my partner! From start to finish, they made the experience special. They noted the special occasion and put a candle in my dessert and wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate. The food was really fresh. with unique flavors blended within each dish. The main had a wide assortment of my favorites, including steak, shrimp, tomato, and sweet potato. The starter of soup was cream-based but light at the same time due to the asparagus. The crème brûlée option also came with three flavors!
Thank you so much!
We loved our experience at King Street Social. The food was delicious and the service was great. We had a groupon voucher which made the value incredible.
Good clean place to go with friends or that special friend and have a really good time. The service is excellent and so is the food. I've been twice and I will return again and again. Great value for your money
The experience was just ok. Nothing too exciting. Food was good. Service was good.
Great place for date night. Good food, good service, and comfy booths! :)
