Originally opened by Jane Vobe in 1772, this authentic reproduction public house serves up a transporting experience for the senses in Colonial Williamsburg. Everything is true to the time period at King’s Arms Tavern, from the fashion sported by servers to the pewter candlesticks—all adding to an air of colonial elegance. Inspired by 18th-century recipes, but with updates to suit 21st-century tastes, tuck in to a chophouse menu featuring prime rib, pork chops, and more.

ADA Accessible dining is available in the Purdie Kitchen. Please note this colonial building is separate from King’s Arms Tavern. Please check-in at the front, and our host will escort guests to the Purdie Kitchen.

The taverns are located in the Historic Area, and not on a public street. The Tavern is a short walk from the Tavern Parking lot which is on Francis Street.

We went there knowing it would be an experience with staff wearing period clothing, which made it very fun! The menu is very limited however all 4 of us had something different and all of our food was excellent.

We have dined at Kings Arms Tavern many times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience immensely. The food is excellent, presentation is great and the servers are all very professional and ready to help any way possible. You are not rushed or hurried in any way. Just take your time and enjoy yourself. Dining here is one of the highlights of our visits to Williamsburg. Not something to be missed.

Wonderful period restaurant. Ambiance was good, the entertainment added a note of authenticity to the overall feeling of going back in time. Dillon, our server was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Everything we had from the punch, the peanut soup, prime rib, salmon, pork, and the Game Pie was exceptional. We thought the fare for such a fine dining experience was very reasonable.

Stephen and Miranda did a wonderful job making the dinner run smoothly. The food was delicious but nothing that could not be duplicated. Maybe slightly over priced but overall a good experience and worth a visit if you have not been.

My wife and I shared the Peanut soup, I was not impressed. I think it was prepared wonderfully just not something I would like. I had the Onion Pye and it was good, not wonderful. Crust was flakey just as it should be and the presentation was wonderful. My wife had the Cornish Hen and she loved it. We both had desert, she had the Snow Eggs which were wonderful and I had the Bread Pudding, it too was wonderful. The dessert was definitely the hit of the night. We also had a musician playing a mandolin and was very entertaining. Our server, Jennifer, was terrific, explaining everything and made our experience authentic. The only issue during our experience was our seating. We were set next to the kitchen and since the room was very dark, the kitchen door continually being open blinded us every time it opened. Maybe adding something in front of the door to block the light would have fixed the issue.

Very unique dining experience. Liked the “old” feeling of the building. Wait staff was informative and friendly. Musician was not overly loud or long. Just enough entertainment. Food was delicious and different from standard restaurants. Would recommend. Walking in the evening down the cobblestone to the restaurant made it even more quaint
