Kings Head Hotel
Our Executive Head Chef - Richard Tuplin and his team are passionate about all things local and work with a range of fabulous suppliers to lovingly create a menu that is full of heritage and provenance. Food at the Kings Head is modern British dining at its best, using fresh premium local products that reflect the changing seasons.
Excellent venue. Staff were all very friendly. Our waitress Ameli ( I think was her name - she was from Romania) was great. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Well recommended.
Super stylish and friendly. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent and wine choice very good. Rooftop terrace is a hidden gem!
Absolutely fantastic meal, excellent service and exquisite food. Will definitely return in the future!
The Market Fish Hake special was delicious! Hats off to the Chef!
Very nice restaurant. Food was good. Loved the decor.
A very enjoyable evening celebrating my husband's birthday
Fantastic food choices, the Duck main and Souffle dessert were amazing (wish I had taken a pic of the Souffle)
Staff were attentive without being imposing or absent from our needs
Good atmosphere and not noisy at all for Saturday evening
Will be back again soon
The restaurant staff went the extra mile to help us celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary.
Planned celebration of Wifes birthday. Entered bar area, it smelt like a sewer. Barmen told us external drain problem. No smell outside building! Smell persisted, we cancelled booking and celebrated at a more hygenic venue. Disappointed. Staff werd ignoring smell and trying to get us to order.
Overall experience very good. Food high standard however would have liked to have been made aware that a10% service charge would be added. (Who reads the extremely small print!)
Sadly the fish and chips weren't that good..the batter was very greasy, dripping onto the board it was served, and the chips were sent back to be cooked again. Shame really as the cocktails at the KH are really good and it's central location in Cirencester is great for meeting clients.
The Kings Head Cirencester was superb for Sunday Lunch. Nothing was too much trouble. Your staff are friendly and welcoming. A full credit to the team.
Fantastic food, great staff and good value for money.
The Sunday roasts at the Kings Head are the best in the area imho. The portions are not massive (which is good) but the flavours are excellent and good value for money. The roast beef is always pink, juicy, very tender and very tasty. A couple of things to improve the service to 5 stars. 1. Make sure the serving staff are fully briefed on the dishes on the menu. 2. We asked for horseradish when our roast beef was served however it took a few mouthfuls before it arrived and we had to ask twice. Why not ask what sauces are required when the order is taken and bring with the main course?
These are minor issues and would not stop us coming again.
Booked for lunch and very happy with food, service and value. But it's a rather strange experience having lunch with you wife when there's a group of several women, three or four of whom are in bath robes and slippers sitting next to you having drinks and lunch. While I appreciate a relaxed environment means different things to people but why some might think it's okay to sit in a hotel restaurant having lunch dressed as if you've just climbed out of the bath leaves me baffled. I would suggest that either less public areas be used for spa customers who may wish to relax after their treatment but please don't subject diners to sitting next to them. It tarnished an otherwise pleasant lunch. It would be really embarrassing if it had been a business rather family lunch!
We had a really lovely Sunday lunch at The Kings Head. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent.
Always great service and food.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and good service even though the restaurant was very busy. It was perfect for my girlfriend's birthday.
Great time. Attentive waitress and excellent service! x
Fantastic experience from start to finish. Food was outstanding and service impeccable. We will be back! Many thanks!
From walking into the restaurant and ordering we waited 50 minutes before our lunch arrived. The muscles were cold and had to be replaced with fish and chips which put us out of sync eating our meals. The fish and chip meals were OK and although the steak was good there was a shortage of trimmings. The puddings were good. When the bill came it had 2 service charges on it which on request were removed.
The bar area was lovely. The Sunday lunch was very good indeed. My only criticism was that the drinks were very expensive. But for a special occasion, perfect.
The food at the Kingshead is good, it has good flavour and is well executed but Is somehow not exciting, we stayed and ate at the hotel for two nights and sadly there was no variation in menu, it feels as if they have a good chef who has no control over the menu which meant that through personal taste we needed up eating pretty much the same things both nights, if only there were some specials which were different to the main menu the restaurant could be the best in Cirencester. Whilst the food is good but unchanging the atmosphere is rather lacking, the open plan restaurant, bar, reception area makes it seem like
you are eating in the lobby, not helped by poorly designed lighting, it is this which I think let’s the restaurant down most as it makes for a very un-romantic, un-intimate ambiance. This is all a bit dissapointing as the hotel room and the restaurant staff are lovely.
We absolutely loved our meal here. We've even had fine dining during our trip to the Cotswolds but the 3 course meal here was the best and hit top marks. Will be visiting again!
Well looked after. Friendly staff. When the dessert was late the manager stepped in quickly to resolve and gave it to us for free. We have ate here several times and not been disappointed
Lovely hotel, food and staff. Enjoyed our stay last weekend. Service was a bit slow for the Sunday evening meal but otherwise can't fault.
We attended the Kings Head for lunch after my daughters graduation. Wonderful 'graduation' menu, something to suit all of our party and a glass of fizz included in the price! Fantastic meal to end a very memorable day!!! Thank you.
My wife and I avoided the Kings Head for years thinking it was pricey and not good value for money.
We gave it a go and were pleasantly surprised.
The staff were amazing and tentative. The food was the best we have had in Cirencester.
Yes it was a few pounds more but it is well worth it. It is now our new weekend treat.
Probably the best Sunday roast beef I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious. And very reasonably priced
Food overpriced given overall quality. Service is prioritised for big groups, yet hefty service charge still applied.
Great atmosphere, great service for the food, slightly slow for the drinks but otherwise all very good! Will be back!
A lunch with friends and our 6 month old son. The staff were very accommodating and the magician was a particularly nice touch. Food excellent and attentive staff made the visit very enjoyable
Excellent food. Service and ambience would recommend thr restaurant to anyone.
Good food and service but the noise from the open bar , which is not shut off from the restaurant, was dreadful. All the youngsters in Cirencester seemed to gather there for a drink before moving on elsewhere. Later when they had gone the noise level was ok. It seems an odd thing to encourage this at such an expensive dining venue.
Wonderful food and staff went out of their way to adapt the menu to be gluten free so I had many choices. Great service. Restaurant was very quiet despite being Christmas time so we had a lovely table in the corner. Will definitely be back!
Our visit to the Kings Head in Cirencester on Sunday was great. Excellent beef (succulent and rare!) superb service and reasonable prices
We have had lunch at the Kings Head before. We liked the building restoration, had a very pleasant meal and considered holding a large party dinner there. We decided to visit again and enjoyed good food (fish and chips, roast beef) but that service was awful this time - we didn't appear to have an allocated waiter and after placing a dessert order waited some time before someone came to tell us that one of our orders wasn't available. Having endured significant waits for service throughout the meal we left without having dessert. We were very disappointed as the Kings Head is local to us and an easy place to drop in for a casual meal. We will probably try it once more but have been put off somewhat.
Booked a table for 4 people on behalf of family using open table, yet on arrival at the Kings head my relatives were told there was no reservation. Lucky for them they were able to be seated. They spoke highly of their dining experience though.
If I'm honest I called 6 times the restaurant and hotel number over the course of the week to book and none answered so had to email.
The food was lovely and a lovely setting but the service wasn't amazing!
Not great for vegetarian options. Proficient service but not overly personal.
Had an early lunch here on saturday and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend. Restaurant and hotel very nicely done out
