Great taste, small portion however (for the price)
Disappointing, given other folks' reviews and the fact that me and my mate had a lot to celebrate.
The best things were my mango mocktail, the banana fritter and coconut pancake desserts, the location and the spacious dining area. Also, staff were pleasant.
But, the starter of crispy duck was a very small portion and there wasn't enough to go with the pancakes, and the two main dishes we had tasted as though they had been made with ready-made sauces. There was very little meat in the chicken dish. Service was on the slow side, not very attentive and only just acceptable.
The setting next to the river is relaxing, it had a lively atmosphere with live music that wasn’t too loud and the food was good. Service was friendly and polite but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. This affected our enjoyment as we were unable to get the attention of the busy waiters to order additional wine and cocktails.
As usual the food and service were good and the wine reasonably priced. Our only negative comment is that the shared stater platter compromised of almost all deep-fried, battered items. I feel sure there used to be other things on this dish.
Mix up with orders, took a long time to get a beer (in a bottle). Food was quite salty but it came out quickly and some of the dishes were nice. Wait staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful. There was a beef dish with a nutty sauce that was good (in the set menu)
The view over the Thames with the sun setting just finishes off my splendid evening at Kinkao. Throw in a great Cutty Sark rum based cocktail with some amazing food this pretty sparse looking restaurant is a little gem.
Lovely meal here again. We had a great table by the window (they did try and put us next to an 18th party at first) but there was plenty of room to sit nearer the front and had a great view.
Will definitely be back!
Lovely meal good atmosphere
Food was brilliant, staff really friendly and a lovely indoor fish tank with whopper fish in it. Would recommend if you’re looking for Thai food.
Extremely disappointed, the service was a major let down, it was extremely slow and had to wait over 90 minutes for main course. Was really looking to coming here, but was let down! Food quality wasn't amazing!
Very good food and beautiful view of the maritime museum ...
Great food, good price
Fantastic! Will be back !
Very tasty 'farang-friendly' Thai food with plenty of vegetarian options. The restaurant was quite brightly lit with 'Thai' decor veering on the kitch; the staff were really helpful and the service was prompt. Extra points for having Singha on draft!
Food was average and service wasn’t brilliant
Place was nice but it was a bit too expensive
Food was nice but not wow and service ok
Delicious starters. Would go back for that alone. Loved the pad Thai as well.
1st visit and we really enjoyed the food and the Thai atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
Great authentic Thai food. Nice to have a neighborhood restaurant as a good option as opposed to always going to the wharf
First visit to this restaurant and have to say service was poor. Polite staff but waited ages to order drink and then when it came there was only one drink instead of two! Waited ages for second drink to arrive. No sense of urgency or aiming to correct what they’d done wrong with order. Food was really good though, not cheap considering where it is but really good menu. Shame about service
recommend a visit, food very nice, staff friendly, good views of river Thames, I highly recommend a visit
only think they forgot it was my wife's 61st birthday
Amazing food and cute authentic décor. Will definitely return!
Great restaurant, food, views and service. Since finding it we've been here a lot and will keep returning. Great for friends, families or dates.
Good food specially the prawn and beef options.
The restaurant and the view really are the highlights of this venue.
Sadly the service really lets this restaurant down. Whilst the food was good, the serving staff just don’t know what they’re doing and whilst they were sweet and nice people, got the orders wrong and the bar staff didn’t have a clue. So disappointing and we won’t be going back 😞
On the whole slightly disappointing. We have been visiting this restaurant for some years and it has been our favourite thai restaurant in the UK. However Tuesday's visit was mediocre in food and service. The views are still wonderful though.
I can't even believe this place has 4.1 star's. When the restaurant was in brick lane it was truly outstanding in every way. Our visit to there new location was disappointing. When we arrived the lady that took I booking was not accommodating we asked for an outdoor table or a table near the window She stated that none where available when there clearly was.
We where escorted to our table and the same lady took our drinks order, we ask for a cocktail , bottle of water with two glasses of ice, she told us our drinks will be about 15min wait minimum because they have to big party to deal with and only two bar staff. SHE LIED!
My partner went to the bar to get the cocktail himself there responds was we have ran out of ice sir otherwise I would of made you one straight away.
The lady who took our drinks oder return with our bottle of water and NO ice! We then ask her where's the ice...??? The manager then came over and said his colleague has said we are very angry because we want ice.. we explain that she never at any point explain to us they had run out of us , we as the customers has to find that out our self, all she did was procrastinate and lie. All she had to say from the ofset is that they have run out if ice.
The food was tasteless, the duck I had was so fatty i couldn't even eat it. My partners Steak was over cooked and tasted like rubber.
This place is a let down. I LOVED it when it was in Brick lane.
Loved everything we tried!! Fav was the Masamam dish creamy coconut flavour!!
The beef dish we had was fatty, other dishes were ok.
Fantastic food, good and friendly service. A super evening out.
It was surprising that reservation made through OpenTable was not booked in restaurant's reservation list. Despite this we were duly accommodated.
Prawn toast could be improved - but everything else was delicious!
Especially the Penang curry and sticky rice
Excellent and authentic Thai food at Kinkao, beautifully presented. Great service and affordable wine. Plus you get to watch the parade of humanity on Brick Lane. A gem of a place.
Always good service and delicious food, aliitle gem in the heart of brick lane
Awesome atmosphere for a colleagues leaving do, excellent food and great service :)
Service was too slow this time. Main dish arrived 40 minutes after we finished with starters. Explanations and apologies of the staff did little to recover the ruined evening.
Yet, the food was good.
This used to be a great place but has changed hands and is now poor. You could see a change as the old friendly welcome had gone the menus had old rice in them and the food was poor.
Even had some inion in my beer!
Good local Thai place on Brick Lane with all the usual menu staples. We went for a meal with friends and find the atmosphere to be lively without being too loud and the food to be of good quality. The Mussaman curry was a standout dish and a friend of mine found the vegetable spring rolls to be very nice. Good venue for a get together with friends and I would go back.
Great food and great service
Pretty goodbye thai restaurant, starters were very good, main courses good, dessert with coconut amazing
