Tasty food but nothing outstanding
Really good, delicate food. Authentic Chinese food in the heart of the city. It is a little dear but given the quality it is worth the little extra.
Really nice place -- lovely decor, great food, lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
fairly underwhelming experience food was ok but service very average. all in all expected more so will definately not be looking to retunr. pricewise reasonable.
We were sat in one of your karaoke rooms and completely forgotten about. Had to come out and look for a staff member to order anything and pay the bill. The room lacked all atmosphere and the sofas were too low to eat from.
Your staff also lacked knowledge on what was vegan friendly or any allergen information. They also admitted to buying some stuff in externally, which at the price of what you're charging is terrible!
it was great, food is very nice
Located in the city, this a quick place to have a catch up .
The evening was slightly quiet, and the service could have been more attentive as it was quiet.
The food was good and big portions
Excellent food and a lovely restaurant. The lady serving us was lovely, but the young man who dealt with us was quite dismissive. That aside, it is a brilliant restaurant...excellent food and great value for money.
Our table was booked for 1pm we turned up at 12:55 to be told they had just given our table to another customer it then took 20 mins for our drinks to be served. The food service was equally as bad it took almost 2hours to complete the food service!!!
We love this place! Often as a take away but last night we wnet there. Lovely. Wheelchair friendly!
After browsing online, I chose Kirin for my birthday meal. As a tradition I always have lobster for my birthday. The lobster I had in Kirin was simply the worst I’ve ever had! On the first bite I could tell the lobster was frozen for a long time. The meat was chewy and tasteless. It was coated in really thick batter, which was not normal for a Chinese ginger and garlic style. I left more than half of the dish, don’t even want to take it away. What’s even worst, they charge £70 for a frozen lobster+noodles! My husband had Beijing duck. It wasn’t good either, the meat was bearly warm and the pancake was cold towards the bottom of the steamer. The whole meal costs over £150 with no alcohol consumed. It was a bad dining experience and definitely the worst birthday lunch! I would not recommend this restaurant.
The service really brought down the restaurant. It was slow and not very helpful. The restaurant wasn't even that busy.
Really nice ambience, just the right side of Kitsch. Great choice of food and an unhurried service that allows you to chat and relax. The food was great and overall, with drinks, quite good value for money. They also have Karaoke if that's your thing, and thankfully doors to the Karaoke booths, which is a blessing.
Great food let down by non existent service. We had to ask for a menu, to order drinks, to order food and to pay. Our plates were left in front of us until we left. Will not return and wouldn’t recommend.
Definitely great quality Chinese food that’s not your usual Chinese Takeaway, so prepared to pay for it. It was a bank holiday so the restaurant was quiet and peaceful (it’s usually quiet in the City during bank holiday). Service was friendly and the lady stopped us from ordering too much and breaking the bank :D They have a few karoke rooms and the restaurant itself can be a great casual place for a special occasion. Very happy with my meal. We occasionally order takeaway from them but with limited choice.
Well, where to start.. we arrived for a long leisurely lunch having taken the afternoon off, booked into this restaurant for Friday lunch 1:45pm, ordered a couple of Chinese beers and was informed by the waitress at around 1:55pm that we needed to order by 2:30pm, no real problem with that BUT we had a problem with having to leave the restaurant by 3:00pm, most restaurants would still permit diners to take their time providing they don’t order any more food, but not this place. Do not expect a long leisurely lunchtime here.. I didn’t get to taste the food but gave it a rating of average.. we finished our pleasant beers and headed to a properly run restaurant..
Food was excellent as always - I do wish they would revert to having the option of a large basket of Shanghai dumplings, as they are sooooo good.
Restaurant very quiet on a Tuesday night, only 3 tables in use when we were there so it was very quiet. But very good service and nice food with reasonable wine list and prices. Would go back.
It was good to meet with my colleagues,
Great food as always and enjoy going there every time. Wish they could bring back their lunch menu they used to have as it was a good selection and very good value for money!
The food was ok but expensive, so not good value per money. We asked for a venison dish but instead it seemed beef. Moreover when we asked for the desserts menu they told us that they run out of all desserts.
Overall a pleasant experience, Kirin is located underground but the room is quite bright and welcoming. We had the sea cucumber which was quite interesting and tasty. Overall classic restaurant, only negative was that our food took thirty minutes to arrive and it wasn't even a busy day.
Food was fine, nothing to write home about, over priced for what the food was. Service was really poor, had to keep asking the waiter, didn’t have enough menus printed for guests at the restaurant. Would not return
Lovely food in an unknown place to me
A great restaurant and lovely food. We were hoping for the Chinese NY lion dance, but apparently it had happened the evening before - a shame we had missed it, but still enjoyable.
Good decorated Chinese restaurant in the City. The service was very good. However the food was very average for the price.
The restaurant was recommended by a friend, but felt it was a little overpriced for what we had.. though the appetitizers were great.. u wasnt blown over by the mains.. neither was my friend..
Hopefully the menu can be more exciting.. nice setting.. and close to canon street station.
Authentic Chinese Food. Great taste... fast service
I booked Kirin for a work team meal. There were 14 of us in total which Kirin catered for well
Very tasty food, served very quickly. Good quite place for a lunch meeting.
The set seafood/fish menu may seem expensive per head, but it’s outstanding and sets this restaurant apart. Despite being full of groups celebrating Christmas, they didn’t miss a step on quality. Highly recommended
We were not aware that the kitchen closed at 3 so felt we were rushed.
The food was excellent and one of the servers was friendly, however the ambiance was sterile and the manager was aloof and disinterested.
I really got the feeling that we were putting them out by being there.
I wont go back
Great food, terrible service. I put up with it as food good, but expensive, so wouldnt good so often.
Staff were very pleasant! Place is prestigious and everything to the way the payment was taken to the way the food was presented was very high quality.
Highly recommended for a group get together, date, or special occasion.
Swift service in a bustling environment, lovely ambience and great-tasting food. Very happy with my choice, and will certainly return.
wastwasnt expecting something so good! really really was the best chinese I've had so far! Only thing was there wasn't any Sake on the night which let us down a bit
Food was very nice and perfectly proportioned (there were 4 us who took the set menu). We went on Saturday evening and the restaurant was very quiet, which I imagine is a very different experience from mid-week when the city part of London is buzzing. Would go back if we were in that part of town again and wanted dinner.
As usual Kirin did not disappoint - only downside was the continual fire alarm going off. This was because smokers did not close the door after themselves
Fantastic restaurant and lovely food - a thoroughly enjoyable evening
