With Knife restaurant, 3 time James Beard-nominated and “Top Chef” contestant John Tesar brings a fresh, new steakhouse dining experience to The Highland Dallas. The menu features all-natural born and raised Texas meats, complementing “old school” classics like 45-day dry-aged sirloin and bone-in rib eye with “new school” evolutions that include culotte and flat iron. In addition to larger “slabs” of meat for group dining — including a variety of aged, exotic steaks — the menu is rounded out by an extensive charcuterie program, bacon and ham tastings, sausages, sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes.

In addition to a sophisticated dining room, Knife offers a flagstone garden patio with a fireplace. A private dining room with its own lounge and fireplace is available for special events.

Knife was recently named “40 Most Important Restaurants of the Decade" by Esquire Magazine. Additionally, Knife was recently named "10 Best Restaurant Meals of 2019" by Forbes Magazine.

Second time going. The first time blew me away but this time the steak was charred and extra salty and they did not have any of their usual pastries.

We want to say first that Knife is operating in the safest fashion since reopening. We felt incredibly comfortable in this outstanding restaurant during these very trying times. All the staff were terrific, particularly our server and the sommelier. The people helped make this a truly wonderful, but the quality of the food deserves a special shout out. The aged bone-in sirloin was absolutely the best steak ever. truly delicious. Also, terrific sides, especially the mushrooms. Thank you for the way you handled your opening during this crisis. We will be back soon.

For large parties, 6 or more, they ate generally limited to booth sitting which has a great view of kitchen but can be tricky for anyone needing to or accompanied by people that make frequent bathroom runs.

Great Birthday dinner in Dallas. Knife did a great job. We started with the yellowtail appetizer then tried their Bacon Tasting. From there we moved onto seasonal risotto, squid ink pasta with Diablo crab, garganelli & black truffle essence, then the oxtail ravioli and finished with an amazing pistachio layered birthday cake. If you’re ever in Dallas looking for a nice dining experience we highly recommend.

Great, as always. Get the Beef Short Rib, you won’t regret it! Dry aged steaks, carrots and the best onion rings for a steakhouse. Staff is professional and still fun. Thanks for a good meal!

Don’t waste your money or time. We left without even eating. After an hour and a half of no food and watching tables seated much after us get their dinner, eating a slow to arrive and very mundane salad, not getting drinks refilled, only one pass of the breadbasket and excuses from the server and manager, we had had enough. We were told that it was taking so long because someone in our party ordered their meal well done! Infuriating!!

I was really blown out but our experience, we were visiting Dallas from Miami and we even asked some locals about it and they didn't know so we brought them and they love it as well, we had the most amazing server, he was funny and very nice with us. Would love to have one in Miami, best steak I have ever had in my life, and I am not even a steak person :):)

The food took over 50 minutes to come out for a party of six who order one petite filet (MR), one 10oz filet (M), and four burgers. Service wasn’t that great - server was nice enough, but didn’t check in on us that often. The bacon appetizer was very underwhelming. The steaks were not that good - the cook temp (MR/M) came out correct, but both steaks were cold. The overall experience was extremely disappointing. Won’t be returning.

Steak was ordered medium rare and came out so burnt I had to send it back. It was totally black from being over charred and I couldn’t even finish the first bite. The manager came out and tried to tell me that’s how they prepare that particular steak and it’s just very charred, not burnt. I told him there’s a difference between charred and burnt and it’s not my first time eating a steak. Second steak came out fine. I was really irritated at the managers response. You shouldn’t try and justify something that was clearly messed up. For a steak that costs $115, it should not have be sent out the way it was.

Took 3 hours for food, I have hamburger and I guess had lamb chops. The hamburgers came out cooked too well not juicy and it cost $20 the lamb chops was $58 and they wasn’t good

We had an early, light dinner. We shared a wedge salad that was wonderful. Other items we tried were fresh oysters and risotto. The risotto was creamy and tasty.

The server was really good, provided good recommendations (yellowtail appetizer, 45 day dry age akaushi ribeye, half order if the garganelli black truffle pasta). They also gave my girlfriend a free dessert for her birthday.

Great experience and would recommend to others.

Food was very good. Steaks, of course, were delicious. The Mac/Cheese side was outstanding. The bacon sampler was delicious.

I was a little disappointed in the service. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t commensurate with the food/price. Had to ask for one or two things twice. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but at $100/head, you shouldn’t have to do that.

Cocktails were well made - although we stayed with basics - martini’s. Most places won’t mess that up.

All in all, a good experience. We would go back.

We sat down in the back corner of the restaurant at a round booth table and our waitress didn’t show up for about 20 minutes. The menus are paper and had food stains on them. Throughout the meal she checked on us 1 time and was extremely awkward to talk to. I ordered the 10 oz filet, a colleague ordered the ribeye and another colleague ordered the rack of lamb. I asked for the filet to be medium-rare but it was was over-done and the ribeye was chewy. Never got a chance to tell the waitress that though because she didn’t come back to check on us. The rack of lamb and avocado fries were outstanding.
