Although we arrived late due to challenges finding Kokeb, otherwise we loved it - the ambience is simple, the food is authentic and delicious, and the owner is absolutely lovely.

Nice decor in a cosy restaurant, the hostess was really lovely and explained about the dishes well. Excellent njera and really tasty dishes. The vegetable dishes were really good so an option for vegetarians.

Realky surprised to find this place just off Cally Road! Getenesh was friendly and welcoming from the start, making sure we were fed in time for our show at theatre. We let her pick a selection of dishes for us and everything was outstanding (and such good value). How she does everything alone is a mystery! Will definitely be back.

This is on our "must eat" list whenever we are in London. Fantastic meal again here. We picked the spiciest dishes and wow! Did it deliver. The owner does a brilliant job greeting people, serving and cooking.

Delicious Ethiopian food, eaten with the hands (optional!). Our host was very welcoming and we were chatting like family within minutes of arriving. Discover new flavours and you won't be disappointed. Don't be in a hurry - it's a small and friendly, one woman operation. Take your time and enjoy the food and the experience. Had a brilliant birthday meal here recently with 5 friends! The owner was so welcoming and helped us choose a selection of dishes, all of which were delicious and plentiful! The lady who runs this place is great, she really makes you feel at home and it does feel more like someone's house than a restaurant. The menu is explained where needed and we had some dishes that we could share. The food is lovely, you can tell that they love making it and do what they do well. It was a good introduction to Ethiopian food.

Gorgeous home-style Ethiopian food! We love this place. The owner is so friendly and the food is so good. I'd never had Ethiopian food before, and asked for her recommendations about what to have, and they were spot on. Since then I've also tried some other things, all of which have been excellent. As a vegetarian it is refreshing to have so much choice and variety, and I love the injera. Brought my toddler along too and it was very child-friendly and she enjoyed it too.

The food is not consistent - some days the food is amazing other days it seems to disappoint. Make sure you call ahead to make a reservation. Unfortunately due to just being one person manning the restaurant she can't seat a large number of people.

Had a wonderful time here. It felt as though we were having dinner at a friend's house. The woman running the show is absolutely hilarious and extremely helpful with suggesting what to order. I'm not a connoisseur of Ethiopian cuisine so it was much appreciated. The food was also top notch. Would definitely return!

We had dinner at Kokeb last Friday. We liked the food so much we did a take out to have on Saturday. We've eaten a lot of Ethiopian when living elsewhere but this was some of the best we've eaten. The food is fresh, rich in flavour, perfectly cooked. The portions were of good size and there's plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. We at two vegetarian dishes or red lentils and the chickpea dish. We also had the chopped beef in spicy sauce plus a delicious salad. The owner takes great pride in getting to know her customers, helping them to choose, and sharing her story about why she cooks. It's amazing value for money too. Very inexpensive. Highly recommend this one.

Kokeb is by far the best Ethiopian food I have had in London. The food is fresh and delicious. There are numerous vegan options. The owner is very friendly and remembers you when you return, even if it has been a while.

A one women as show with a host of flavours... We told her we had to leave within an hour 15, she was great and served us the most incredible food... worth it and we managed to eat and pay within the hour... wish we weren't as rush soo lovely

Being 'foodies' in every other way, perhaps Ethiopian food just isn't for us but the food here was overly spiced and the 'bread' just left us feeling bloated. While the lady who runs the restaurant is lovely, it felt she was a little over-keen to have her customers compliment her/her cooking which made it a bit uncomfortable. Just simply not for us - not a great experience and I wouldn't recommend it to others by any means.

A traditional Ethiopian "village" style restaurant, run by the indomnitable host and owner. The injera is fresh and tasty and the spicing excellent. When the injera for the day has all gone, the restaurant takes no more customers, which just adds to the charm. Great veggie options and reasonably priced, the owner turns away more customers than she can serve, so always book!!!

I love Ethiopian food and hence visited most of the Ethiopian restaurants in London and when it comes to the balance of spices and quality this one is the best by far! It is a small place away from any other restaurant or main street with simple decor and a lovely owner who takes great care of you and even advises you on your choices ( we did order too much, she warned us :-)) I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try great food and relax!

I had high hopes after reading all the very positive reviews and it certainly lived up to expectations. A friendly host who takes the time to explain the different dishes on offer, the food is interesting, varied and all home made on the day. It's a great way to eat in a group with the emphasis on sharing and trying a variety of dishes. I celebrated my birthday on a few different nights with different friends in different places and this was definitely the best!

Brilliant food and experience all delivered by an amazing, warm and friendly matriarch who is like a combination between your grandmother telling you whats good for you and a gentle great Aunt who spoils you whenever you visit. Delicious, wide range of Ethiopian curries, stews and vegetables. The lighting and atmosphere is bright and friendly and it feels like a place you have to make an effort to get to but once there you are warmly welcomed.

Ethiopian food is a fun and different way to dine (no utensils!) and Kokeb is an excellent example of the tasty stew type mains that go with injera, the sour pancake like side that you use to scoop up the main dishes. The restaurant is a small cheap and cheerful local restaurant with a good vibe. I would recommend booking for groups as every time I have been past it has been consistently busy.

From the moment you walk into this restaurant to the moment you leave you feel like you have walked into the home of a friend who has invited you to dinner. The ambiance is that of a tiki hut. The night we were there, the restaurant filled up and it was in the middle of the week, so I would recommend reservations at any time. The food arrived and it looked fantastic and it was delicious. I've eaten Ethiopian food in man different restaurants and this was as good as the best that I've eaten. The price was very reasonable. 3 of us ate for £45 including a drink.

Small restaurant with 1 person working there. Food takes time to arrive so allow at least 2 hours to eat as it takes time to get served and food to arrive. Food was interesting but for price small quantities. Good ambience.

We booked a table for 10 and form the moment we arrived, the proprietress was welcoming and helpful. We had the best meal of our week in London with Kokeb and will make a point of returning. Lovely and gracious owner!

Went here last week with a group of 15 for our christmas party. We had the set menu which had lots of veggie options, halal meat and a mix of mild and spicy dishes. We couldn't finish it all so got doggy bags and enjoyed it the next day as well. Great food, great atmosphere, great for a party and above all, great owner and service! Thank you.

The owner of the restaurant genuinely enjoys feeding her customers and whips up delicious meals herself. She will happily advise you on dishes you should order based on what you tell her you feel like eating. The food is wonderful, particularly the tomato chicken stew. The only (small) problem is that because only one person (the owner) takes orders, cooks, brings the food out, and deals with payment, service is slow. However she is so friendly and funny that you can't really get annoyed about this. I'd definitely go back.
