   We showed up early/on time for reservation. Service was horrible. The hostess man was rude. We left Kona Grill - Kansas City because of that. We had to wait over 40 mins beyond our reservation time to finally get a seat which it was not a good table. Service was poor, so we told them we're leaving.

   I was appalled at how dirty the restaurant was. The plexiglass partitions between the booths looks as it had been months since they were cleaned. The booths and carpet were disgusting. The atmosphere, food and ambiance have decreased substantially since my last visit. I will not be returning!

   Our first time to Kona and it was just "ok". The food was lacking flavor and the music was so loud. I will say the sushi that came with the meal was amazing. Once they cranked up the music there was an overhead speaker that use have been about to go out.....it was very awful sounding. It scared our daughter so I asked to eat outside. The manager said we could eat out there but would not be receiving any service since they were short staffed. I didn't mind no service, just wanted somewhere she could finish her dinner without covering her ears. Once we went outside, the music was blaring even louder so we just left. The mac and cheese was over boiled and the cheese was lumpy. Unless it's for sushi, I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.

   First time back to Kona Grill since before the pandemic. The restaurant is showing its wear a bit, but was clean and organized. Our server Will was very good and attentive. Food was tasty but a little pricey considering what we ordered (but I know prices are up everywhere). We were there on a Saturday around 5 and were able to get a table easily using Open Table. The music, however, was entirely too loud and got louder while we were there. Not sure you need a night club feel when you are there for dinner and drinks.

   The server seemed to be checked out. Took forever for drink orders & for drinks to arrive. By 8 PM the music was so loud you could not even talk to the person sitting next to you.

   This was the second Kona Grill I’ve been to. Other was in Scottsdale. Not impressed. They are poor decorated, dog eared and dingy. Sushi rolls are poorly rolled and the fish is room temperature which is concerning. For me 2 strikes you’re out. Too many other good options.

    I ordered the date night special, my ribeye was cold when I got it. Our server was cool but he wasn’t checking in on us as much as I’d like, so by the time I was able to tell him about my steak 20 minutes had passed by. He did get me something else, but no one ever came by to talk to me about the issue.

    Hadn't been to Kona maybe since the pandemic and a lot has changed. First and foremost, their sushi menu and selection has been dramatically reduced. Years ago, I would compare their sushi offering against most sushi restaurants. Now it seems more like a secondary offering. But what we did order tasted fine. Not incredible, but certainly not bad. Management needs to consider putting more money into the location. It is looking a bit tired.

    Very expensive for the quality of experience. This place was so smoky we could hardly breathe. Everyone in there was choking on the air. We looked around and saw so many people coughing. My little sisters eyes were watering because of the smoke. They need better ventilation! I feel bad for the people that work there, I could hardly bare being there for an hour, I couldn’t imagine how they do it. I was still coughing when I got home. Will not be back.

    Food was fantastic. Drunks were too. Best happy hour in KC. Twiggy was so friendly, we would go back just to see her.

    Awesome. I believe Sarah was our server (Saturday June 11 at 8PM). She was super pleasant. I’m sure the host job can be stressful when people are waiting. In shows in her face so maybe share that feedback. The forgot our calamari, brought it out late and comp’d it for us for the inconvenience. Love Kona Grill!

    Ordered the shrimp stir fry - can out look warm . Two other guests ordered the steak- both were beige and under cooked - didnt even look like it hot a grill ( were ordered medium rare- came out light beige and half raw . One order , the potatoes and gravy were lukewarm . No one is going to complain on a birthday celebration . On top of that , the womens bathroom was dirty- heard from one of them men in the group that the men’s bathroom floor was greasy and wet ( or something ?) . The place has went downhill.

    Our waiter, Will, was absolute perfection! Very personable, polite, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, just perfect! It was a busy weekend evening and multiple managers were bussing tables, running food, checking in on guests, and supporting the wait staff. It was everything a diner wants to see. They should all be commended and we will definitely be back!

    First time dining here. Food was good. Service was excellent. However, the place seemed worn and shoddy. Booth backs were stained. Booth seats were worn. Men’s room damaged. Could use an interior makeover. Will probably try another restaurant when we are in KC next time.

    Service was not good. Waited forever to get sushi and we were almost finished with our meal. Also, drinks sat empty and we didn’t get checked on much. Not worth the money in my opinion. I had a lot better for much less.

    Server, Twiggy was terrific. We sat outside on a perfect evening. Enjoyed the salad and sushi immensely. Also avocado appetizer was a big hit. Only negative is they upped the volume on the outside speakers, but when we requested they turn them down, they instantly accommodated us.

    Food was wonderful. Our waiter was great. The downside was that the drinks didn't have a lot of alcohol in them; the skinny margaritas tasted like they had triple sec (artificial tasting) instead of agave like advertised. Pricey menu but good food.

    Very nice restaurant. The staff and our server were awesome. Appetizers and Sushi rolls were excellent. My steak was horrible. It was almost like it was oven baked. Very bizarre. I’ve heard rave reviews about their steaks, this has to have been a one off problem. I didn’t say anything because the rest of the food was so good and I was full anyhow. Watch the drink prices. They add up quick.

    This was our first time at Kona as we celebrated a birthday. Our server, Carolina was just super!! She was attentive and very personable. I think we will as for her area the next time. The food was very good. We ordered the shareables to begin our meal (the KG sliders, ribeye meatballs, and the potstickers). For the main meal, we ordered the chicken stir fry and the filet. The filet had to be sent back and cooked a little more. The taste was different and we would probably not order that one again. Our overall experience was very good. We would go there again. Again kudoos to Carolina who was GREAT!

    Overall it was fine. But it was incredibly noisy. We had to yell across the table to each other to be heard. The food was good, no complaints, nothing outstanding, especially for the price. The bathrooms left a lot to be desired. They were not cleaned and stocked on a holiday.

    Arrived and let them know we had reservations. The hostess told us it would be about 5-7 mins for the table. We sat there for 20 mins. Other people were seated before us. My husband was a little upset by then and when my husband let one of the gentlemen at the hostess station know he was rude about it and said our table would be ready in 2 mins. They sat us down and another gentlemen came to our table he wasn't dressed like a waiter so maybe he could have been a manager, he had a different English accent. My husband also complained to him and he was just "well what can I do about it attitude" he made it seem like "it is what it is". My husband told him we had made reservations and we had to wait, other people were walking in and were getting seated. The man said we made the reservations through the app and that it wasn't his fault and he had no control over that. On Open table it states they only have a 5 min grace period if you're late. And that making a reservation gives them time to prepare a table to celebrate any occasion. But that wasn't the case. Our waitress was way kinder to us, we got our drinks and appetizers pretty fast but our main dishes took about 45 mins. Our meat was overcooked and we didn't get exactly what we ordered. But we didn't want to keep complaining. We just wanted to eat and get out of there. We made reservations because we knew it was mother's day and we could understand they were busy but they should have more customer service skills and a manner to diffuse situations when people are upset, but they lack that. They acted like "oh well" we did not feel comfortable or welcomed. Almost like they didn't want to deal with it. Our bill was about $300 for our family, you would think if you're gonna pay that much then we would get better service, at the least they could have been nicer. Why would they be on a reservation app and then act like they have no control of it? We will not go back.

    Mothers Day and finals for Miss Kansas - the restaurant looked trashed by our 3:45pm reservations and never did get a drink so canceled the drink order then realized we paid for it anyway. I know everyone tried and it was not our waiters fault.

    Waiter complained about wages, tips, and working there. He was low energy and seemed annoyed. The ambiance was not that great. The lighting was too dim. They crammed 4 of us into a tiny booth right next to the busy work station. The food portions were small and over priced.

    Very Noisy. Live DJ playing very loud music. Food was sub par. We ordered an appetizer. A main entrée to split and a few sushi rolls. Everything came out at the same time and was luke warm. Sushi was good. Chicken Satay was not good chicken was tough, but taste was not bad. We ordered the Chilean sea bass entrée, it came out cold. The restaurant was on the warm side and the booths were not comfortable at all. Service was decent. But for a $120+ bill for 2 we will not go there again.
