Kurobuta Chelsea Ratings and Reviews
The service was very friendly at this restaurant and the waiter was brilliant at helping us to decide what dishes to have. Great Sake menu also which was easily explained for those you appreciate but don't have the expertise to choose their own. The food was displayed beautifully and tasted excellent. We will definitely go back and can't recommend highly enough!
The sashimi platter had the thickest and most delicate pieces of fish I've had in a long time. The edamame is grilled or something and has a distinctive flavour I've never seen before. The crispy duck special was delicious but just ask for a fork and knife because it is not very easy to eat!
Kurobuta lived up to its internet hype! The vibe was great for a gathering of friends. The Artichoke Chopsticks were amazing. There is a lot of fried dishes so make sure to order a Frozen Kirin to wash it all down. It was vegetarian friendly, our veggie friend had plenty to eat. 3 rounds should sort you out, you will need to bring good conversation along.
I'm not a frequent review writer but this was my first visit here and it was outstanding. The service from initial greeting right through the meal was really friendly, quick and attentive. We booked for Saturday lunchtime and although it was initially pretty quiet it soon filled up however service was still good and the kitchen seemed well able to cope even when we ordered more food toward the end of our meal. The food itself was fantastic - super fresh and a lot of taste and texture sensations. It's fusion, not straight Japanese, but definitely up there in quality and comparable with somewhere like Zuma, but much more relaxed. I read some other reviews mentioning loud music but personally thought they had it spot on. All in all we had a great meal and would highly recommend.
Fantastic modern take on Japanese food, with creative twists in traditional Japanese dishes. Service was v friendly and helpful, although we were there early and it did get very busy later, so you may struggle with the 1.5 bookings if you book after around half 7.
We ordered loads between the two of us and it was all delicious, with interesting, varied flavours and great presentation. Highlights were the pork scratchings, short ribs, wagyu beef sliders and pork buns, but everything was great.
We had a couple of cocktails each and they were all v tasty too.
Would recommend to anyone, although it's not cheap but we thought it was worth is for a special occasion.
As usual, we had a lovely time at Kurobuta - their serving staff are the best in London! I have marked a point down on food, as was slightly disappointed with a couple of the new additions to the menu; nothing disastrous, just very bland, not what we are used to from this chef. However, will be back again!
Met for a catch-up with a friend. We had some fab margaritas and really delicious food. Service was really warm and efficient. I was initially disappointed as the waiter said they because of time constraints on the chef they couldn't offer me the lovely Jerusalem artichoke dippers (for the second time in a row I have been there) which is one of my favourite dishes. The waiter negotiated with the chef to have a portion made specially for us. Very happy!
Kurobuta Chelsea is a great venue with a good vibe and delicious food. I've been here multiple times in the past with people from work and recently visited for a friend's going away party. The staff is personable and engaging which enhances the experience. The only setback is the drink service. The bar staff missed a few drinks and we had to remind them of our orders but it was also during a busy Saturday evening. Highly recommend the Sashimi pizza and Pork Belly buns!
Got a fantastic deal from Timeout for Taster menu. 17 dishes! Food was amazing, perfectly cooked. High class cooking at affordable prices. Mussles in Kimchi broth was fantastic. Each dish had a different flavour and texture. Passion fruit was quite tart it almost knocked my teeth out (in a good way). Great atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Great service.
Absolutely fabulous afternoon . We dine out all the time and live in Covent Garden so it was a real joy to move south and visit Chelsea for a change. Kurobuta was fun, serious fun. Service was impeccable, we couldn't fault it. The food was superb. I'd go back again in a heart beat with just hubby or with a group of any size.
We were about 45 minutes late due to heavy traffic but phoned ahead and were told not to worry. That was nice. Greeted nicely and immediately shown to our table. No pressure to leave within the set allocated 1 1/2 hours.
I love the food: pork-belly buns, soft-shell tempura, sashimi, and the sake was also really good with a great selection.
The atmosphere is on the dark side with some serious fairly loud rock music. In general it is a loud place as people tend to talk quite loudly so as to be heard above the music but not unbearably so. Not a place to go for a business meeting or quiet conversation. More of a fun place to go with a friend.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She didn't write down our order, instead kept repeating it back to us, presumably to help her remember - but it all arrived. But did give us a feeling that we needed to worry about it. She did have a habit of interrupting us frequently, and I'm not one of those people that likes over-friendly waiters/waitresses, or being interrupted, so I did find that annoying and interruptive. Funnily enough when we wanted the bill, it took about 15 minutes to get her attention. Apart from that, I find the place refreshingly laid-back and a fun place to be. The food is great and I like the rather limited menu as all the items are tempting.
My first visit to Kurobuta and definitely not the last, we had a great time all round and the food was pretty amazing with the pork buns being my favourite although everything that we had tasted absolutely superb. If you like cocktails they do a good selection but the triple rum 'hurricane' is one to try and shall remain a favourite for next time!
We were warmly welcomed to Kurobuta and seated almost straight away even though we had arrived early. The food was delicious- we had the 17 course brunch option with bottomless prosecco. Generous portions, delicious flavours and very authentic. Highlights were the glazes edamame, crispy sushi, chilli mussels and the steak. Generous pours for the prosecco too. Will be back!
The Tuesday deal was particularly appealing. The food and drink were both outstanding. The free bottle of wine between 6-7 sealed the deal with the place so would recommend shouting more about that offer. Or keep it a secret so it's quiter when I come back next time!
