The food was excellent and the occasion memorable. The only downside was that for the second time the restaurant did not have all the beers it was offering on the menu.
Food good as always, was a lunchtime on a pretty hot day so fairly empty but suited us fine!
The food here has steadily declined from its past glories. The tempura was like deep fried takeaway and the rest of the food was poor, oily, lacking care. Want Japanese food, go elsewhere. Poor food, poor value.
Nowhere near as good as it used to be. Especially the aubergine dish that used to be a firm favourite - now tasted uncooked and very oily. Disappointing as used to tell people this was our favourite place to eat in London. Nowhere near the top now.
There is too much fried food on the menu. Its not healthy.
We also had to wait 30 minutes for a table despite arriving at the booked time The staff were very apologetic are comped some drinks but the food was also very slow and we ended up being late back to relieve the babysitter.
It simply cannot take so long... to be delivered the wrong order!
No words to describe it.
Honestly, this was a terrible meal. The sushi was very fishy, the edamame was burnt to a crisp. We disliked every single thing we ordered. We have dined at this restaurant many times, however this will be our last. It has really gone down hill.
Fantastic experience with Scott cooking himself! Great brunch !
Very nice place for young people! The food was outstanding! Everything was very nice! Absolutely good choice!!!
The service was very friendly at this restaurant and the waiter was brilliant at helping us to decide what dishes to have. Great Sake menu also which was easily explained for those you appreciate but don't have the expertise to choose their own. The food was displayed beautifully and tasted excellent. We will definitely go back and can't recommend highly enough!
The sashimi platter had the thickest and most delicate pieces of fish I've had in a long time. The edamame is grilled or something and has a distinctive flavour I've never seen before. The crispy duck special was delicious but just ask for a fork and knife because it is not very easy to eat!
I have been going with my family to kurobuta since it was a small pop up.
The food continues to be good (except the new crispy duck), but it has lost on its ambiance. The waiters once always super nice and fun, now they barely say hello. Inattentive service, many empty tables.... what a pity!
Great service as usual, food was tasty, booze was pretty expensive!
We were definitely blown away with the overall vibe and atmosphere of the place. It was busy but surprisingly good for having private chats. The cocktails were also very good and while most of the food was delightful, there were some items that we have definitely done without. The best dish we had was the beef tataki and the sashimi (which should have been included in the gluten free menu). We were less impressed with the lobster dish that we felt was overly saucy and did a disservice to the lobster. Overall though, I would definitely go again but won't let anyone talk us into ordering the most expensive items on the menu. Did I mention our waiter was lovely.... He was.
Great atmosphere. Delicious wine!
Food not as good as competitors in London and quite overpriced.
Kurobuta lived up to its internet hype! The vibe was great for a gathering of friends. The Artichoke Chopsticks were amazing. There is a lot of fried dishes so make sure to order a Frozen Kirin to wash it all down. It was vegetarian friendly, our veggie friend had plenty to eat. 3 rounds should sort you out, you will need to bring good conversation along.
I'm not a frequent review writer but this was my first visit here and it was outstanding. The service from initial greeting right through the meal was really friendly, quick and attentive. We booked for Saturday lunchtime and although it was initially pretty quiet it soon filled up however service was still good and the kitchen seemed well able to cope even when we ordered more food toward the end of our meal. The food itself was fantastic - super fresh and a lot of taste and texture sensations. It's fusion, not straight Japanese, but definitely up there in quality and comparable with somewhere like Zuma, but much more relaxed. I read some other reviews mentioning loud music but personally thought they had it spot on. All in all we had a great meal and would highly recommend.
Was one of my favourite and I went lately and seems the food quality decreases.. even the way u sliders are not the same, their best dish
Great food, perhaps a bit too noisy but its true that we started dinner late when people had already had a few drinks.
Would definately recommend it though. Food was great!
This is my 3rd or 4th time eating at Kurobuta and the food has been absolutely delicious every time! This time I tried a cocktail --the Kurobuta Smash--and it was also fantastic. Everything that we ordered was great, but I think my all time fave is the Tuna Pizza. The sushi is great and so are the salads.
Fantastic modern take on Japanese food, with creative twists in traditional Japanese dishes. Service was v friendly and helpful, although we were there early and it did get very busy later, so you may struggle with the 1.5 bookings if you book after around half 7.
We ordered loads between the two of us and it was all delicious, with interesting, varied flavours and great presentation. Highlights were the pork scratchings, short ribs, wagyu beef sliders and pork buns, but everything was great.
We had a couple of cocktails each and they were all v tasty too.
Would recommend to anyone, although it's not cheap but we thought it was worth is for a special occasion.
Very good sophisticated sushis on kings road
good lively kings road spot with creative japanese fast foodish dishes. a bit loud and crowded but thats a good thing. recommended for young groups friends/dates. wagyu sliders are da shiiiieeet
Special place to dine with friends or date. The majority of what we ate was nice, only the sushi was a bit stiff, but in general we were satisfied. Staff was really helpful and good in their plate recommendations. Would visit again.
Food is really great, original and beautifully presented.
Amazing food, very high quality, interesting flavour combinations! Friendly service and well priced.
As usual, we had a lovely time at Kurobuta - their serving staff are the best in London! I have marked a point down on food, as was slightly disappointed with a couple of the new additions to the menu; nothing disastrous, just very bland, not what we are used to from this chef. However, will be back again!
Terrific funky immersive Japanese experience. Fun, informal but with great food and atmosphere.
Rude waitress claiming the fish was fresh when we complained about a dry dish
On arrival we were told we only had the table until 8:30pm. We ordered and some of our food was very delayed coming. We followed up with our server who indicated that he would ensure the food arrived immediately. At just prior to 8:20pm the hostess approached out table and told us it was time to leave. We explained that we were still waiting for some food which had not yet arrived after over an hour and 15 minutes waiting and which we had followed up and was coming. She told us that we had to leave regardless of this. She then lied and accused us of "yelling at her" when we said the error was their fault and that she was still 10 minutes ahead of the 8:30pm time. We then spoke to the manager to indicate that she was wrong to approach us without even checking with the server as to the status of our meal. The manager did agree with us but at that point our meal had been ruined. We decided to leave anyway even though two dishes we had ordered never arrived. I have never encountered such rude behaviour at a restaurant and I will certainly never be returning there again. The hostess could not have been more unprofessional.
Delicious, interesting, authentic-with-a-twist food, tastey cocktails and the most pleasant and knowledgeable waiting staff.
Great food and good service, really good house wine which I think sets the standard of a restaurant!
Creative and energetic Japanese junk food place. Getting more and more unhealthy with time but the old classics still delicious.
Met for a catch-up with a friend. We had some fab margaritas and really delicious food. Service was really warm and efficient. I was initially disappointed as the waiter said they because of time constraints on the chef they couldn't offer me the lovely Jerusalem artichoke dippers (for the second time in a row I have been there) which is one of my favourite dishes. The waiter negotiated with the chef to have a portion made specially for us. Very happy!
Fabulous!! Food was incredible. Just one note is the music was a little too loud. Other than that, I will go back!
Kurobuta Chelsea is a great venue with a good vibe and delicious food. I've been here multiple times in the past with people from work and recently visited for a friend's going away party. The staff is personable and engaging which enhances the experience. The only setback is the drink service. The bar staff missed a few drinks and we had to remind them of our orders but it was also during a busy Saturday evening. Highly recommend the Sashimi pizza and Pork Belly buns!
Generally a brilliant place, but service last Sunday was a bit disappointing (compared to normal wonderful service)
Food is very spicy and over seasoned, making it impossible to discern other flavors. Almost makes you wonder if they want to disguise the quality of the ingredients. Nice atmosphere, reasonable service but not a place where you return to. It's a shame as they could do so much more with the concept.
Edgy place with crazy people. Funny names for drinks.
Unfortunately we came here in a Sunday night and they were out of almost everything including sashimi so we had to reorder several times. The food was reasonable but nothing outstanding and the service was slow and mediocre at best. Wouldn't bother if you have somewhere better available.
