A very nice meal in lovely surroundings with pleasant attentive staff. Food that I couldn't cook at home.
Great food and service in a pleasant atmosphere. Excellent wine available in a a 500 ml carafe.
Highest standards are consistently maintained. One of Edinburgh’s dining destinations.
Reliably good lunch. Nice choice and good value for money.
At La Garrigue you can always be assured of delicious food, elegantly presented in a warm and welcoming environment. The lunch menu is particularly good value and the wine list noted for its extensive selection from the Languedoc.
Excellent meal as always at La Garrigue. Service attentive without being intrusive. We both had the special (mushrooms foraged by the owner that morning sautéed in garlic butter) which were absolutely delicious, and then the cassoulet, which was excellent and very filling (which we needed!). My only comments would be that it needed some green veg (which was ordered subsequently, came quickly, and was the perfect companion to the richness of the cassoulet ). The wine list is extensive and some of it quite expensive but we had a wonderful bottle of Pinot Noir which was quite reasonably priced. Plus a really tasty burnt orange based aperitif (speciality of the house).
Classic French cuisine, personal yet professional service. An authentic bit of France in Edinburgh.
Food although tasty left something to desire quantity wise. Decent selection of wine.
Excellent food and service. Near to the busy High Street but not filled with tourists.
Delicious authentic Languedoc cuisine, also using some local ingredients where possible, e.g. Mushrooms from Fife. Extensive selection of wines and aperitifs. Award certificates on display, well deserved! Friendly service from knowledgeable staff and proprietor.
Consistently good experience. Good food, great staff, relaxed atmosphere
We were asked to sit at a table right by the front door which was 2 feet away from the maitr d - a horrible spot. The seatings on open table were wide open and the restaurant was empty. We asked for better seats and were refused with no explanation except that the empty restaurant was “booked”. So we walked out and had a wonderful meal at the Grand Cafe around the corner. They were very accommodating despite the fact that they were busy and crowded. This is the first time we ever walked out of a restaurant
Excellent cuisine and superb wine list. Superb service too.
again,le rapport-qualite was exceptional.
Such a treat to eat authentic French food, served by eager, pleasant young waiters.
Very pleased to find it on our one night stay in EDI. only disappointment was my wife was excited to have the cassoulet but they were sold out at 7:30. Seems a little early. She had the duck which she says was some of the best she has ever had.
My rabbit was perfect.
Also, their wine selection is inventive, unusual and the Pinot Noir we had from the Languedoc (yep) was spicy, light and paired well with our entrees.
Give this place a try.
We travelled into Edinburgh to meet old friends up from London. The restaurant was recommended to us by family. We loved every minute. The atmosphere was bubbly, everyone enjoying meeting up with friends over their lunch. The service was superb, very friendly and relaxed. The food was delicious and so fresh. We were helped with our choice of wine and it certainly hit the spot, perfect.
We were looked after beautifully.
We are hoping to visit again very soon, wish we lived in Edinburgh!
Warm welcome. Small lunch menu but varied choices. Good value for money. Extensive wine list. Friendly service.
Would recommend & will go back.
Felt like we were in France, in the heart of Edinburgh. Delicious simple food, very high quality, very well prepared. Charming discreet French staff, polite, helpful and efficient. Highly recommended.
An excellent choice for a re-union of friends. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed La Garrigue. We were offered a choice of tables as we arrived early, and the service was warm and efficient. All the food was delicious, and there was a good variety of excellent dishes. The wine list was well-chosen, with a southern French emphasis, unsurprisingly given the restaurant. We have been to La Garrigue twice before (we live in the south of England) and it is good to see that the excellent standards are being maintained.
Never disappoints. We took the recommendation if Osso Bucco venison and it was delicious. Service is always good but not intrusive.
Favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Amazing food, knowledgeable and helpful staff, fantastic ambience
Went there with my two children for a late lunch. A little bit disappointing really. Lacked atmosphere and vibrancy. The food was OK but not exceptional. I had Coq au Vin.....it could have been fried chicken! Staff very pleasant but no real enthusiasm.
Delicious food, great wine and good service. A real treat of a meal
We there with my husband for my birthday dinner while visiting Scotland. They recommended a bottle of wine based on my tastes which was very good. They brought us each a first course of chilled asparagus soup and a crostini with a divine whipped goat cheese. We then each had an appetizer. I had the wild mushroom terrine with a pesto sauce and my husband had something similar to a cheese soufflé. We then share duck confit and bean cassoulet. Finishing the meal with a lemon curd with berries and chantilly cream.
Really enjoyed our visit with friends. Nice friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere. Will be back.
Excellent meal as always. I have never had a disappointing meal there.
Our table of seven was comfortably annexed to the main restaurant within a room off. Apart from the kitchen traffic its ambience was first class.
The service initially appeared slow as it was several mintes before we were offered a drink, however subsequent service attention excelled.
The food was faultless in all cases, and sufficiently plentiful.
Value was fair.
Availability of taxis at the conclusion seemed a problem but the staff remained very accomodating whilst we remained at the conclusion of the evening awaiting taxi`s arrival.
Excellent ambience with attendant but not overbearing staff. Good food served well.
On my arrival - I was early - the greeting was lovely and I was given a coffee and water immediately. The attention of the staff was excellent and we enjoyed a lovely lunch with good food and wine. It was so good we are returning in 10 days!!!
Incredible quality food. My in-laws were a bit sceptical when they sat down and looked at the menu as they are steak & chips folk, but we ordered for them and they said it was the best food they'd ever tasted. Highly recommended, would definitely dine again. Only downside it that the wooden chairs are a bit uncomfortable after a while.
Love the Tim Stead furniture. Feels warm. Good service, helpful staff, lovely food.
Very welcoming staff despite it being the penultimate night of their Edinburgh Festival extended hours. Food and wine just as good as we expected from several previous visits.
As usual excellent food at great price and very friendly staff. Really enjoyed the tomato and red pepper soup. Could we have a choice of size when buying wine by the glass please?
Lovely staff excellent food. Went with friend who is a regular can't wait to back when in Edinburgh next.
Great menu at a great price, all well prepared. Authentic Frech cuisine.
A small corner of the Languedoc appears to have been airlifted to Edinburgh. Cassoulet to die for, wonderful things done with seasonal mushrooms and memorably good Languedoc wine, served with care and charm.
Great food, good humored and attentive service. Menu relatively small but high quality with choices to please anyone looking for traditional French cuisine. Small but manageably priced wine list.
Always enjoy a meal at this restaurant. The standard of food and service remains high.
Fantastic food, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we entered, and enjoyed our delicious aperitifs, while choosing, with difficulty, from the extensive menu. The lavender and white decor and beautiful wooden furniture, together with colourful paintings (for sale) create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. We have visited La Garrigue many times and never been disappointed. Our party ranged in age from 26-85 years old, included 2 vegetarians and we all had a wonderful time .
