Traditional french cooking beautifully presented. Thoughtful menus using excellent ingredients. Small restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. Attentive, knowledgeable waiting staff. Ideal for special occasions.
My cousin was visiting from Glasgow and I wanted to go somewhere for lunch that she hadn’t been to before. I have been going to La Garrigue frequently for a number of years and know that I can always depend on the quality of food, wine and service there.
My cousin cannot eat dairy products, so asked the waitress to clarify which dishes she could safely choose. She and the other waiting staff were very helpful and the kitchen served her fish with green vegetables instead of a sauce that wasn’t suitable for her. Even more impressive was the fact that, having brought us bread and butter, the waitress came back a minute or two later with a small dish of olive oil and discreetly placed that on my cousin’s side of the table.
The whole meal was lovely, and very good value. It’s just a delightful place to eat.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent, however was quite pricey.
A lovely evening in La Garrigue. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and staff helped with recommendations of the food.
Our third time eating here and now a firm favourite every time we visit Edinburgh. Not cheap, but worth every penny for a special treat. Exquisite food.
We haven't been to La Garrigue for several years so were really looking forward to our meal. We were not disappointed: from the knowledgeable staff, to the excellent service, food and wine this was hugely enjoyable. We won't leave it as long before returning!
Amazing service. Excellent food. Very reasonable price
Well worth it
Don’t need to write much. It’s simply supeb. Great food, friendly efficient and attentive staff
I went here with my sister on 4 December. We had a really lovely evening. The menu offers a lovely variety and the food is delicious. My sister lived in the South of France for 30 years and was very impressed with La Garrigue. I would definitely recommend this gorgeous restaurant to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Great service and fabulous food. Will definitely be back.
Excellent lunch. Good value with efficient and friendly service.
Great French restaurant with excellent food and very accomdating staff.
Service was fantastic
We had a wonderful pre-theatre meal with an excellent choice of food from the festive table d’hôte menu.
The Pousse Rapier cocktail was very refreshing and pear and jelly mulled wine terrine dessert was outstanding.
Excellent food and service. First visit but we will definitely return
Excellent restaurant which has maintained a very high standard over many years. I would recommend this place to anyone and it is particularly good value at lunch time.
Lovely professional staff, not too much fuss but just enough. Beautiful food, exactly how a quality restaurant should be, portion sizes perfect, delicious mise en bouche, excellent quality mains. You pay for what you get for once. The owner with his French ness makes it all the more authentic.
A truest authentic French restaurant with delicious food and impeccable service. Catered very well for some tricky dietary requirements. Will be back! Thank you.
La Garrigue never fails to impress. The food is authentic with some original features, it is beautifully prepared and presented. Sadly we were unable to sample the wine on this occasion, which did not detract the experience. The ambience is unchanged, relaxed and calm. The staff as ever, were friendly, approachable and quietly efficient. Thank you all.
Staff were very friendly and we had a lovely time there
Amazing food in a great atmosphere with superb service always recommend
Good set lunch with a choice of Celeriac soup or terrine followed by chicken or the fish of the day which was extremely tasty Gurnard. You dont often find Gurnard in restaurants and this ws really well cooked and sauced. No room or time for pudding sadly but a great place to catch up before departing from the station less than 5 minutes away
La Garrigue was outstan ding. We went for my wife's birthday as the highlight of a long weekend in Edinburgh at the end of a long tough year. The food was oustanding, service impeccable and the wine list awesome. We will definitely be back !
Excellent Sunday lunch 3 course menu. Managed 3 courses with nice portion size. Enough but not stuffed. Good wine recommendations to accompany food.
My favourite place in edinburgh. Love the hearty, delicious, authentic food.
An excellent venue for lunch in central Edinburgh. Lovely warm welcome from the staff - who were very attentive all through. Very professional too: nice manner- friendly and efficient. The fixed price menu offered interesting and varied choices. The food was served attractively and was delicious. The pichet of wine was also very good: price and taste.
Excellent value for money and definitely a restaurant we will return to.
This was not my first visit and certainly will not be my last. La Garrigue is one of those gems outside of France where you can experience the Gallic flavours & combinations "comme ta mère cuisinait". With an exceptional hand-picked wine-list to compliment every dish...what's not to like?
The ambience is very relaxed, but still incorporating high standards, yet minus the linen. Portion sizes are ideally sized to allow a three-course meal to be experienced without the latter struggle.
Taking the cuisine style and price together, this is the type of place that is more for the 'special' occasion than an everyday bistro dash. But the prices are very fair for the standard presented.
Well worth a visit for those looking for something well thought about and delivered by the most charming & helpful staff.
As ever a warm welcome from very attentive staff. The food was fabulous as ever, with portion sizes perfect to enjoy all three courses! Delightful, thank you.
This is clearly a very well established family restaurant. Warm friendly service and food and wine dedicated to the Languedoc region.
A very accomplished and pleasing experience.
We had diner Saturday Gibraltar after rugby S we always. Excellent great service. Food is fantastic visit if in Edinburgh
Most attentive , informative staff. Food was delicious. Good portion sizes and quick service. Strongly recommend a visit if you haven’t been before.
Fabulous restaurant I’ve visited seveeal times. Authentically French with a varied menu. Our only critique was a poor dessert; a chocolate tarte which seemed solid from the freezer with rock hard pastry. This was kindly deducted from our bill and did not detract from our enjoyment. I will return yet again.
La Garrigue always fulfills its promise of good food and relaxed but attentive service with an accent on the Languedoc. Nearly as good as actually being there!
A surprise discovery. Really good food and service. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday evening dinner at La Garrigue on 4th November. Lovely food and wine and perfect service from friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food, service and ambiance, it is fast becoming a favourite go to place with friends!
Another very pleasant evening: delicious food, excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. Still one of Edinburgh’s nicest restaurants.
2nd visit in 3 weeks and just as good as previous time. Wonderful to have such an authentic regional restaurant so near to all the 'tourist traps' of the Royal Mile. Excellent value for money lunch menua and lovely wine list.
I would normally visit this restaurant when over for rugby and it would be full of atmosphere. Was in Edinburgh Sunday for a soccer game - granted a Sunday evening but the restaurant was extremely quiet. Nevertheless, staff as usual very friendly and food excellent.
Revisiting this marvellous restaurant after a few years absence did not disappoint. The food and service was of the highest standard and I cannot recommend it too highly.
A great meal in relaxed and friendly surroundings. If you want an authentic french evening - this place is it!
