Brunch deal was a great value! Cozy spot on an otherwise hectic St. Marks Place. Had a great time here.
I really enjoyed the Al Pastor Taco, but my favorite was the Hongos Quesadilla...so good, I ordered a second serving!
The food was good as always. Drinks were strong and tasty. Service was attentive and pleasant. Only downside was the a/c wasn’t doing a great job cooling the space so it was a bit warm. The giant cake slice with candle for the birthday girl was a wonderful touch.
Excellent food choices: flavorful & well presented, we especially loved duck Oaxaca mole. Terrific service too- from phone reservation confirmation to table service staff, all on their game. Thanks!
Major dissatisfaction was with beverages: margaritas were weak & flavorless! Glad bar was stocked with other tastes ( Pyrat rum was a treat!). An this was before Happy Hour rush- so what happened here?
Good food but very dimly lit place and quite noisy! Struggled to read the menu or see the food you were eating properly! Had a good buzz about the place though and was a Friday night after all!
Food and service was great. hyrtyghrtyhgrtyghrtyhgrtyhryhuyrt
Great good and drinks! Service was great and the restaurant was extremely accommodating when we were running late to our reservation.
Food was really good, service not so much. Completely forgot my meal so I got it 20 minutes after everyone else. These things happen, but it was not terribly busy when it did. I would go back and hope for the best.
Food and atmosphere was great. The service was outstanding.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Went at the end of June and it was quite warm in the restaurant after an 85˚ day. I was worried the heat would ruin the meal, but cooled off over the course of the dinner, and ended up being delightful!
Food was very good! It was extremely hot in the back of the restaurant.
The bartenders must have been schooled as a result of those first few reviews saying the drinks were strong, as they were dutifully measuring out every drop of alcohol into a jigger. The food was about what you'd expect, and my bland enchilada was swimming in a spicy sauce that obscured whatever else might have been going on in the dish. The place was lively, with a birthday party. The place is OK, but nothing for which I'd go out of my way.
Ambiance and margaritas were excellent. I was very underwhelmed by the tacos.
Amazing, delicious, the best huevos rancheros. I have been bringing friends and family to La Palapa for years and this lunch/brunch staple is outstanding. Love their three salsas that are always served alongside your meal. Service was excellent-efficient, very friendly yet not intrusive. Drinks arrived instantly and our Bloody Marias looked and tasted great. Sitting on the open air patio was a bonus.
Love it here! Always a great time great service and food is so good!
Charming, busy and great vibe! A bit tight but not too loud! Service and pace was just right. Cocktails delicious as well as food! Portions plentiful.
We loved our food and our waitress. There was a big party that arrived during our meal and it got very loud. Other than that it was awesome!
Probably the worst food we had in our 6 months in NYC. Most dishes were tasteless and blunt. Will not be going there again
Went for my birthday with a big group- great spot!
Everything was ok in regard to the service and food, but my request of sitting outside was not accommodated despite a majority of the tables being empty. Instead we were seated by the bathroom.
Delicious food! Margs are great too, however happy hour is only served at the bar which I think is dumb especially being that the bar is small.
Was nice. Waitress was nice and food was nice. was busy but we did not need to wait to be seated with our reservation.
We went on cinco de Mayo - so the place was crazy - even at the early hour of 3:00pm on a Sunday - the staff is pleasant - the food mediocre - it’s mind numbing loud. Have to shout. Just feel there are much better options available in New York.
Too loud and too hot but good food and drinks
Service was great. Great waiter. I dont like the brunch specials anymore. Brunch seems to be geared toward mitigating hangovers rather than dining. But a cocktail off their menu was awesome and I am intent on ordering off the main menu next time. Just fyi, brunch looked like 90% female customers. Just an observation.
Food was great and the host was simply excellent at greeting guests. Overall, awesome experience; I look forward to coming back!
Great food, great atmosphere, and great people! Highest possible recommendation!
WE WILL BE COMING BACK!
I hadn't gone to La Palapa in years. I decided to try it again for dinner with friends. I was so happy the food quality stayed well. It was the first high-end Mexican restaurant I knew years ago. They have the regulars like nachos, burritos etc. but they also have an authentic mole and serve duck breast with delicious seasons.
The rooms a beautifully decorated with a classy Mexican style. Service is great. It was just very noisy but only because there were a few parties and it was a Friday night.
Food was very good, drink were ok. Service was just ok, they need to be more friendly.
Incredible molé. Even their queso fresco is made in house.
The people who worked at La Palapa were very good. Friendly, helpful, personable. The food was very average. They don't seem to season the food that has sauce on it. They just put the sauce over the chicken. The sauce was tasty but the chicken tasteless. very strange. We ordered a pitcher of Margaritas on the rocks. Very average Margaritas. The noise level was horrendous. I had eaten at La Palapa years ago when it first opened and we both said, now we know why we never went back.
Went for a family lunch between my family and my boyfriend’s family. Everyone loved the food selection. The queso fundido is perfect. It was very loud, which was unexpected. But that did not detract much from such an enjoyable meal.
Great atmosphere and fantastic service. The food was very authentic.
La Palapa is such a good find! From the outstanding food to the service, my experience has been great time and time again. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city!
La Palapa was a fun Mexican restaurant to come to with a group of friends to catch up and have fun. The drinks were delicious and there was a very wide selection of food for all different types of eaters. Everyone there seemed like they were looking to let loose and enjoy themselves, but it was still a controlled setting. Would definitely go back, but would try a different entree (I got the special calamari salad which ended up being just a caesar salad with somewhat rubbery calamari).
I've been dining at La Palapa for over 15 years. It's a little noisier than I'd like, but that's to be expected, so that's okay. What keeps me coming back is the amazing food, and great service!
Great food but a bit pricey ($23 for 3 fish tacos seems a bit high). Service was awesome but the place is a little crowded.
The bottomless brunch limits the menu to just a few entree's. Food was ok, service was average - took about 30 minutes for us to get our second round of drinks but the waitress did extend our 90 minute timeframe to compensate. Overall, I would go back.
Wonderful meal. Some of the best guacamole I have ever had. O would highly recommend
