Terrible service resulted in us leaving before even ordering. Bartender ignored us, gave our seat away, served others that arrived long after us. Completely ridiculous. One less option for fine dining in Toronto
So sad its closing. The Brunch was a favorite!!
Food was served cold. Requested no salt, came with salt
Noise level was TERRIBLE otherwise food and service good.
Maybe the best French restaurant we've been to in Toronto! Great food and ambiance, very good service. We just discovered it and heard it is closing - that would be a terrible shame! Wish there was a way to keep it open!
Sorry to hear it is closing.
I would recommend La Societe but the first time I went was considerably better than my most recent visit. I ordered the beef bourginion on both occasions. The first time was incredibly delicious. The second time around, not so much. The portions size was very different from the first visit. The first time was an ample serving of beef, however the second time was only one small piece of beef and all mashed potatoes. Due to the small portion of beef the flavour was less than gratifying tasting more like mashed potatoes.
What a wonderful place for an easy lunch. The food is delicious yet be mindful you're eating in a swanky part of Toronto so my salad with chicken was $30. Well worth the price when you're looking for a lovely place to connect with a few of your favourite friends. I would go back!
If you're looking for a cozy place to eat amazing French food, look no further. Service was great also. Definitely recommend it.
Food was a bit uneven. Some things great and some mediocre but with prices that high everything should be perfect.
We were a little pressed for time, but the servers were incredibly accommodating. They kept an eye on the clock, were right on hand to expedite our orders, and kept things running smoothly. The food was wonderful, the ambiance elegant and beautiful, and the already top-notch service was exemplary. Well done and thank you!
As the only Vegan in a party of three this place was a mistake. I can normally work my way round a menu to find something that can sustain me but it was impossible here. I do not expect a wide choice but when all I am left with is a citrus salad and a side of fries, with all the animal protein removed, and some tofu (which the Chef happened to have left over from an event the night before) it means I left hungry and dissatisfied.
Surely, with 10% of the Canadian population identifying as Vegan/Vegetarian, even a French restaurant could have one or two options that could be readily converted to a vegan option if not a rotating vegan option.
As a vegan, the most common question I get asked is "where do you get your protein?" Well not at La Societe, that's for sure.
I have scored the service as very good only because our server was very pleasant, did his best and at least managed to get Tofu.
Started off terribly and did not improve! Hostess with HUGE attitude asked aggressively “can i help you” without a welcome or offering to take coats. Showed us to a table designed for party of 8 and then not happy to move us to a table suitable for our party of 4. One of our guests who arrived later experienced the exact same snarky greeting! I complained to her associate who told me the hostess felt badly; but a real apology would have gone a long way!! This was followed up with sweet and attentive service from a brand new waitress who was hopelessly undertrained and hadn’t got a clue about the menu. Crappy experience was reinforced by the kitchen with truly mediocre food and lousy plating, servers shoving down dishes on the table without asking who they were for. Overall lousy experience, poor value and B team service
Excellent food especially Foie Gras. Service and ambience is wonderful. Great value for the price.
Hostess didn’t pay attention to our reservation requirement (made over a week prior reservation), and when we asked about it she refused to accommodate our needs. We expressed the situation to the waiter and he promptly accommodated us. Food is always delicious at La Society tho!
Great for Sunday brunch. Nice ambiance to the restaurant and very good service.
We went with 8 people for my friends baby shower and had a great experience. Loved the phone, such a beautiful restaurant and great food
Went here for my birthday dinner.. and I wasn't disappointed at all. Delicious dinner was had by all by whole family. My 20 year old said it was his second best dinner ever! Delicious and unique cocktails and excellent service. Will be back!
The food was great, oysters where the best, foie gras and boudin was the best. The wine requested from wine list was a 2010 burgandy, brought in 2015 and told us will leave it as a favor at same price !!!!!!!!!
Lovely setting, excellent food and attentive service. One of my favourites in Toronto with a decidedly French tilt.
We were warmly welcomed and seated. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. We were told that we would receive bread, which only arrived after I reminded the server. He blamed a colleague for non delivery, vs apologizing.
He was more of an “order taker” vs an “order maker.” As an example, we each ordered a glass of wine and a main course. There was absolutely no effort to entice us to order an appetizer or offer a 2nd glass of wine. I asked for a 2nd glass of wine. We were not offered tea or coffee to accompany our dessert, yet offered an alcoholic beverage following dessert, which we declined.
Once the cheque was presented, we waited for close to 10 minutes to pay and only once I caught the attention of the greeter/manager.
I have dined at La Societe on many occasions and while the quality of the meal was extremely tasty and fresh, the service was a disappointment.
Hostess was extremely rude and told us we had to leave the table asap
The food needs a lot of attention. Our table received a steak that was very fatty as well as cold mashed potatoes. A side order of mushrooms was undercooked. The truffle burrata was not soft inside and the truffle flavour was weak.
Awesome food and great, attentive service.
I really like this restaurant overall, and have dined here before. Unfortunately, both of our mains were slow to arrive and luke-warm at best (but tasty otherwise.) One was pasta and one was the daily special, so really no excuse. That being said, we told our server and we were comped two desserts (which we had not planned on ordering.)
Excellent wine list, attentive service. Our pâté appetizer was excellent! Despite this blip, we will return. Music a tad loud for our tastes but perhaps we are just old 😂
Love the French bistro ambiance. Dishes are typical of that type of restaurant with the quality of the food excellent.
Service was great as well. We told our server we had to be finished by a certain time as we were going to a show nearby and he was very attentive to getting us out on schedule, even though the place was quite busy.
Excellent wine list, if not hugely extensive.
Prices are quite reasonable.
As always good food at good value - will be back
Great for work dinners or couples
Would give them another shot. The duck confit, and shortrib were not executed at a high level .
I've been to La Societe several times for dinner. This was the first time I've come for brunch. I love the decor. The place buzzes with energy and the service is excellent. The restaurant was my choice for a small group. The food I've enjoyed at dinners was very good. Brunch was less impressive. It wasn't bad. Just okay. I expected better.
Beautiful restaurant but Brunch is very busy. Think it's difficult for them to manage big groups. Food is tasty but long waits for drinks and service and food a little cold.
Great front house staff that makes up for shortcomings from the kitchen. But nevertheless an enjoyable experience.
The meal was cold! The beef bourgeon was beef sous vide and everything was not cohesive...and no apologies and no remedies. We will never be back!
This is the second time in two weeks. First visit was on a Friday, last visit a Saturday. It was pretty full and busy. Despite this, the staff made us feel relaxed and welcome. Also, having only 1.5 hours, because of a concert, we still did not feel rushed or uncomfortable. The food is French done really well. The staff knew the dishes in detail. Excellent in every way.
Great atmosphere and delicious food😍🥰😍
Went very late - 1045 and kitchen closes at 11. Kind enough to wait. Service was great. Nice ambiance - on the quiet side. Great food. A bit pricey. Would go back.
Great food, fresh oysters and really nice service.
Beautiful setting for a special night out with loved ones. Service was great from the moment we walked in
to the restaurant until we left. Food options are plenty and our meal was delicious. We were surprised by the
special on bottles of wine at 1/2 price!
The service and dinner were both outstanding. Plus we were able to order wine at half price. That was a pleasant surprise. We’ll certainly recommend “La Société” to our friends.
Booked for a birthday celebration, got there on time and was told to wait a few minutes till the table was ready. Stood waiting for nearly half hour will no follow up about what was going on with the table. Bigger issue was that the majority of the party did bottomless mimosa’s, everyone had several with little effect. It was noticeable there was very little champagne in each, if any... have been here before and had such a wonderful time but this experience was not great.
