"Use this cafe for weekend brunch a lot and its perfect for lovely coffee, eggs, quiches, salads and cakes. Everything is fresh and atmosphere is buzzy. Had dinner for a change, all eating different dishes and no one was disappointed. The atmosphere was quieter but the staff were lovely. The bill was reasonable. Will definitely return."See more

"Delicious food in a pleasant setting. The flavours in each dish are great and tapas style allows you to try even more of them. The lemon and cashew rice is one of the nicest sides I've had anywhere."See more

"Overall we had a yummy brunch. However, both of us had the meaty baked eggs and were disappointed that none of our eggs were runny. Plus, there wasn't much flavour, they were actually a bit bland! We've both had better baked eggs, including our own at home. The ambiance of the cafe was lovely and chilled, the staff were also very accomodating. I would be more inclined to recommend for a cake and coffee than for brunch ."See more

"I always take out of town visitors to Balbir's, because it gives consistently great, friendly service by staff who know what they are selling. The meal is excellent—tailored to individual taste, if needed—the food is tasty (especially their Bhel Puri!) and the location is easy to get to. Highly recommended. I did find the ambience this time was a bit loud, with music and other noises occasionally drowning out our table conversation. However, this has not been my experience in the past, and certainly would not put me off going again. But it's a factor the owners might want to pay attention to."See more

"I was here for a book launch that was taking place upstairs, so it was a very convenient place to eat. The food was good. It was the Saturday before Hallowe'en, so it was not the place to try a quiet conversation that evening. The staff were attentive, even though they were very busy, and they looked after us very well. The Curler's Rest is famous as the pub where the renowned Scottish authors Alasdair Gray, James Kelman and Tom Leonard used to drink when they were teaching creative writing at the University of Glasgow in the 1980s. I could not work out which corner they sat in. The book launch was fun. All told, it was an excellent evening."See more
