Bienvenidos, y'all! Inspired by long days on the Gulf, late nights on the ranch and the colorful creations of our abuela, our family's Kitchen & Cantina showcases the rich foods and traditions we grew up with on both sides of the border. Nothing matches the flavor of food grilled over mesquite. Try wood-fired Texas quail swaddled in homemade tortillas, jalapeno rellanos stuffed with house-made chorizo and sizzling, family-style parrilladas - huge mixed platters of wild game and fresh vegetables, topped with pico de gallo and queso fresco - a unique spin on Houston barbeque. Our days begin roasting chilies and tomatoes, rolling fresh tortillas in our bakery and wringing every last drop of Ruby Red grapefruit for cocktails. We hand-grind our own sausage and hand-trim every ounce of meat in our butchery, then anoint it with the savory seasonings and marinades we've honed over generations. Just fantastic. Hostess was friendly. Our waitress was SUPERB. We ordered the sausage (favorite dish), all the veggies (sweet potato was a miss), fried chicken (great), pork ribs (it was as if the ribs were coated in candy. But in a good way). Wine list is eclectic. Sommelier terrific.

The food was tasty. Service was great, at first. It did take a while to get the appetizers to the table. Main courses came out soon after. They forgot a few little items. Trying to find help once the main courses arrived was frustrating. We needed to ask several times for a forgotten cup of milk, extra plates, etc. We were celebrating a birthday. We all sat waiting for at least 20-30 minutes after eating for our birthday boy to receive his dessert and candle. We are a patient group. This time we had a 1 and 4 year old with us. The extra time it took to end the evening was excessive.
