The word “moona” or “mouneh” in slang comes from the Arabic word mana or ma'oona, meaning "storing." In other words, it’s the English equivalent of "the pantry". In the past, especially in remote villages in the Arab World, the moona was prepared during the bountiful harvest for consumption during winter's harsh days, providing fundamental nourishment for the daily meal, having transformed perishable produce into food with a long shelf life: foods such as olives, pickles, preserved lemons, cheese, spices, herbs, jams, etc.

Just minutes from MIT, Harvard, and Boston University, we’re the go-to spot for students, young professionals, and locals looking for bold flavors and a night that doesn’t quit. Our space is pure energy: graffiti-splashed walls, 90s hip-hop blasting, and kung fu movies glowing on the screens while crews crowd tables stacked with plates. Tear into the award-winning Shōjonator Burger (beef, bacon, and kimcheese on a bao bun), get messy with Wu-Tang Tiger Style Ribs, or push it further with our Duck Fat Fries drowned in spicy mapo tofu. The bar keeps pace with the room — Japanese spirits and wild craft cocktails that match the energy around them. Pammy’s is a New American restaurant inspired by the feel of an Italian neighborhood trattoria. Perched between Cambridge’s Central and Harvard Squares, Pammy’s is a cozy yet sophisticated neighborhood destination. For husband and wife team Chris and Pam Willis (who live right up the street), Pammy’s is an extension of their living room. They’ve brought together their love of great food, easy hospitality and chic vibes to create a lively space that is welcoming to all looking for a memorable meal. With dishes that lean heavily on Italian flavors but are not restricted by any rules of the cuisine, the food is unpretentious and delicious. A fireplace wrapped in white ceramic, an oversized salvaged communal table designed for side-by-side dining and rich leather banquets are just some of the design elements that make up Pammy’s charm. We apply a 6% Kitchen Admin Fee to all checks that exclusively benefits our Back of House staff, who by MA law may not be included in the tip pool.

We met with friends for drinks, tapas and catch up. The Little Donkey delivered: our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Vinho Verde was as described and great. Oysters were fresh and delicious, the vegetables were plentiful and well prepared, noodles had a great ratio of toppings vs pasta. We all agreed we enjoyed the experience and will be back. Thank you!

Moona is highly regarded for a reason! Happy to see the new location retains the same level of quality and service. And shout out to Hassan and David at the bar who offered friendly conversation and excellent recommendations. Would definitely recommend for graduation, dinner with friends, date night, work meals, or solo dining (which is what I did).
