Impressive experience from start to finish. The setting is as close to water level as you can find for fine dining on the Chicago River. We were seated in one of the rounded booths that create quite an immersive setting. Our server was excellent. He had such a kind and patient demeanor and helped us select an ideal assortment of plates. The food was absolutely exquisite. The halibut was a standout. We had the yogurt for dessert but didn’t “get it” as a dessert that stood up to the level of the rest of the meal but that’s okay. It was a beautiful lunch and memorable experience. Definitely worth the hype of trying to get the reservation.

From the moment you arrive, Pizzeria Portofino hits all the right notes, and somehow it still feels like a hidden gem even though everyone in Chicago clearly knows about it. The location alone is a major win and then there’s the pizza which is consistently incredible with bold flavor and a crust has that perfect balance of chew and crisp, with toppings that taste fresh and thoughtfully put together. One of the biggest compliments I can give is getting a reservation in prime time (for lunch or dinner) is genuinely difficult and honestly, that just speaks to how popular and worthwhile the place is so plan ahead., or, if you’re denied a table you can always pull your boat up and pick up carry out The wait staff deserves major credit too. They’re friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Bottom line: Great location, exceptional pizza, unbeatable view, outstanding service, and the kind of demand that proves it’s worth every bit of hype. If you’re thinking about going don't forget to book early!

Another wonderful meal at Crying Tiger! Food, service, and ambience were all absolutely top-notch and made for a truly unique experience for my family that was visiting from out of town. Can’t wait to come back.
