"It’s a really nice restaurant with a great ambiance! My family and I enjoyed our dinner here. There was great music playing, the service was outstanding and drinks were great too! The food portion was rather small but I think you pay for the overall vibe here rather than the food. Definitely a place in LA to try out."See more

"This is a good, one time experience in a historical venue. A few items of note: 1) If you don't want champagne, they offer sparkling apple juice as an alternative. 2) Each person receives one pot of tea for the entire tea time and no tea cozy is provided so your tea will be cool after 1 hour or so. The tea ball is left in the pot so expect a strong pot of tea as you near the end of the service. 3) While the tea service is from 2PM to 5PM, you are not expected to take that long (and your tea will be cold long before then!). We took approx 1 hour 45 minutes with leisurely conversation and it was plenty of time. 4) The venue is quite loud since its in the middle of Rendezvous Court-the pianist helped make the setting seem more intimate. 5) Some of the seating is low couches and larger chairs - if you have a hard time sitting down, you may want to specify a table with chairs and no couches."See more

"I was disappointed at first as when we arrived, they gave us the wrong menu (breakfast menu) at 11:30 am. Secondly, the bread served was very hard and appeared to have been warmed up too much in a microwave. But the food was good."See more

"I have lived in Downtown LA for few years now and was looking for a nice date spot for my wife and I that was a little bit closer to our home in the Historic Cor by Spring and 5th. I had been to Kai previously , but it has certainly gotten better since my last visit about 8 months ago. They're manager Liz was very gracious and made us feel extremely welcome , she also let us know that they had recently hired a new Head Chef, and from my experience it is definitely working out as the food was fantastic all around. We arrived during their Happy Hour before 7PM, so we started with their Veggie Gyoza which was perfectly crisped and dressed and a couple of hand rolls. They also had a really cool line up of Japanese Beers in bottle , and I'm always a big fan of Hitachino which they had like 5 different kinds of. For Dinner, we opted to explore their assortment of tasting and share items as we were advised by our server. the Chilean Sea Bass skewers and their cooked black cod sushi stood out in particular, the sashimi and nigiri we ordered were great all around. My Wife is tried their cooked salmon hotpot which she refused to share, so I assume that was a sign she enjoyed herself. Throw in a few sips of Nikka , and I must say, it made for a lovely experience through and through. Glad to see Kai getting better, we could definitely use more restaurants like them in the area. I would recommend this place for a date night or a hangout after work because of the chill atmosphere and solid food & drink options."See more

"When I checked in at the restaurant, they seemed to be totally oblivious to the fact that I had a reservation for six people. One would think that someone would look at the reservation list and have a table set up for a group of six. Most of the tables are set for 2 or 4. Fortunately it was not busy and they were able to accommodate us easily. The food is adequate, but nothing special, especially for the price. The service was very good and attentive. We'll return but probably not worry about making a reservation, and not for the food."See more
