Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine. The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

Our party of 4 ordered from the Coolinary menu. The Creole Crab & Avocado Tomato was good, but would have been better with actual Creole tomatoes. Since it's not creole tomato season, the tomatoes would have been better sliced rather than cut in half. They were a little hard and difficult to cut up. The shrimp & grits was awesome! Including 2 bottles of wine for 4 people was also an generous inclusion. The peanut butter pie was delicious and more than the 4 of us could finish.

Shareef provided an exceptional dining experience that significantly enhanced our celebration for my husband's birthday. His extensive knowledge, friendliness, attentiveness, and engaging conversation made him an outstanding waiter. Throughout the weekend, we found ourselves comparing all other services to the remarkable customer service we received at Lula, which set a high standard for our trip.

We went to the NOCHI pop up lunch Duex Fuegos and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We started with 2 cocktails -the Hibiscus tea with a shot of bourbon and the Paloma with a shot of Tequila. Both were very well crafted. For appetizers we went with the shrimp ceviche which was so cool and refreshing and the boudin tamales. Those tamales were so good I would go to a restaurant that served them. For entrees we got the broiled fish and the empanadas. The fish came with corn maque choux which had a great saucy taste. The empanadas had a red bean puree which was delicious with the blue corn chips we had leftover from the ceviche. We also got an order of fries which we dipped in the aioli which came with the empanadas. That aioli was so good. The best for last was the Dulce leche warm bread pudding. I haven’t had such a good bread in a long time. I could have licked the bowl clean of the sauce, This was our second NOCHI lunch and can’t wait for the next one. Rachel was our server and was very attentive. The courses were served so beautifully and in a timely manner.
