L'Auberge Chez Francois
Rack of Lamb
with herbs de provence, vegetables, thyme sauce (for one or two)
sauted with toasted almonds
We had a delightful lunch celebrating my mom’s birthday, and both the food and service were impeccable. We sat outside, and they even gave us a special cabana. What a treat.
L'Auberge Chez Francois is just plain wonderful if you wish to impress your spouse. The food is beyond perfect as well as superb service even with covid-19 restrictions. David was the best waiter who thought of everything and surprised my wife with a delicious desert for her birthday after a Beef Bourguignon dish that tasted as if it we were in the best restaurant in France.
Outstanding food and service! Highly recommend for special occasions!
The place was perfectly organized safely for covid and the service and team were equipped properly to handle our safety. Food and service were excellent.
Perfect pandemic dining. Opted for patio with beautiful tent and fans. Nice large table for 4, with no one within 10 feet. Everyone in masks. Lovely service — never pretentious, just friendly professionalism. Food excellent. The Homard still crazy good. Soufflés did not disappoint. Not inexpensive, but huge value in my book when you want a fine dining experience while feeling super safe.
From moment of entry to exit a rare dining experience...great food, service, friendliness, and attention.
Had lunch outside, under a very large, attractive tent to maintain social distance.
Food and service were excellent, without being pretentious.
Outstanding menu coupled with outstanding, welcoming and friendly service cannot be beat. The courses were superb, especially enjoyed each course and garden fresh vegetables, straight from their garden.
The sommelier service was not great. We would get our courses and be left waiting for our wine. The food runner was more helpful than our server. Our entrees were good, but not great. The soufflé was very good. I don’t think we would go back for the overall cost and service.
Excellent. Would definitely return.
L'Auberge was at its best and tables appropriately distanced
The tomato salad from the garden was a super seasonal touch
the garlic bread continues to be the best I have ever encountered
And nothing was diminished by the attention to Covid 19 guidelines
It was spectacular! We reserved a gazebo and the food and service were superb! We felt like we were in the French countryside.
An exquisite dining experience. Definitely a bucket list item for those living or working in Northern Virginia and the DC area at large. The service was perfect and the food, especially the meats and desserts, were some of the best I have ever had (and I have been to several Michelin-starred and Beard award-winning restaurants). Highly recommended!
I’d like to express my gratitude to our server Edwin, he was just a wonderful person, who helped us to enjoy our first lunch in this restaurant.
Anniversary dinner was one of our usual visits to Chez Francois. Everything was great except the wine which was a Virginia sauvignon blanc and not of the quality expected from Chez Francois. The lesson for me is don’t trust the sommelier.
It has been over 15 years since we dined here. We used to go at least one a year in the 70s, 80's and 90s. The restaurant does not now measure up to those memories. We felt rushed at times - need more time between courses to savor and discuss the food. When is the parking lot going to paved? It has been gravel since 1975.
Beautiful gardens and grounds! Best place in the DC area, hands down, for outdoor socially distanced dining. In August, when the restaurant's home grown tomatoes are on offer, the gaspacho and tomato salad are to die for. And, I love, love, love the soft shell crabs stuffed with lump crabmeat.
We felt so comfortable .
They took our safety into complete consideration.
It was one of the loveliest luncheons we have had in over 35 years of going to the Auberge.
No one should hesistant in today's atmosphere to venture out to the Auberge.
As always, the food, ambiance and safety measures due to covid made our experience outstanding. The only thing we missed were the chocolate truffles. We will be back as our tradition continues !
L'Auberge Chez Francois, does not disappoint, fantastic food, impeccable service and wonderful outdoor seating! If you have a special person to celebrate or you wish to have a memorable meal visit L'Auberge Chez Francois.
It had been 8 years since we were here. It did not disappoint. Fabulous evening.
Amazing night as always! Food, ambiance and customer service is top notch! The best of the best!
Everything about our meal was outstanding! Can't wait to go back.
Dining at L'Auberge Chez Francois is like being treated royally. They take such good care of you. We always look forward to their famous cottage cheese dip to start with. They serve an amuse bouche as well. Ours was a little cup of fresh mushroom soup. If you have a choice of fresh tomato salad, order it. The tomatoes were fabulous. The prix fixe lunch menu price depends on the main dish you order. We chose the veal with Virginia ham and Madeira sauce. It was delicious. I always like the Lobster Bisque as a starter and the Chocolate Tart for dessert made with Valrhona French chocolate.
Ate on the spacious outdoor patio; excellent spacing; attentive appropriate service (masks, etc). wonderful place to enjoy a meal maintaining social distancing during the current pandemic
We love Chez Francois and try to go every month. It is so nice to be able to go there. It is always an event. We dined outside under the tent and it was a delight. We will be back next month.
The food is always outstanding, and we are never disappointed. It is always a wonderful treat to eat here!
Eating under the tent was delightful. In this age of Covid the tables were well spaced. The food was delicious as usual.
Celebrated my mother’s birthday as she loved dining here earlier. From the ease of making reservations through “open table” to the quality service and absolutely mouth watering dining experience this is a must for anyone who wants true French cuisine.
Their wine selection is impressive and we decided on a nice pinot to compliment our meals.
The fresh bread is amazing as are the garlic toast, we had a lobster bisque and French Onion soup which were delicious. The Caesar salad was perfect. Our entrées consisted of Beef Bourguignon that was oh so tender and served with seasoned organic vegetables. The Rainbow trout fillet served with organic vegetables with toasted almonds and lemon brown butter Jawas cooked perfectly and tasted magnificent. The Grand Marnier and raspberry soufflé for dessert was perfect light airy and delicious The waitstaff also brought a small chocolate truffle desert with a candle as we were celebrating a birthday. Almost three hours later, we were finished and so happy we chose to dine here.
Unfortunately it was raining so we could not walk their garden and park like setting outside, but we will be back very soon.
Well done to everyone there!
Excellent food and service in a great outdoor setting under a tent. We even had a severe thunderstorm, and they were able to close in the sides and keep everyone dry. Actually was fun being outdoors in the rain!
Service is impeccable. Food is delicious. Best restaurant in the entire DC area.
Great. Safe. There is a tent for outside dining.',
As always we had a lovely dinner celebrating our 49th Wedding Anniversary. Everything is top notch!
Awesome service today - our server was David. He was so thorough and attentive to our needs. Food was delicious! Outside seating area was amazing even on a very hot day. Fans are blowing under the big marquee. Did not feel hot at all.
Everything was wonderful. We really appreciate every effort that the folks at L’Auberge made in order to create a safe dining experience! We sat outside under the tent. It was lovely. And very comfortable with the fans. My first experience at a restaurant in five months due to COVID. It was a treat!!
Food and service were amazing
Birthday celebrations are best at L’Auberge
Excellent food, service. Staff allows your experience to be an event...much more than a meal.
Perfect as always. Even in a pandemic, Chez Francois manages to shine bright. The menu was limited, but should be expected during these times. Perhaps so much abundance has been taken for granted in the past. Cheers! Looking forward to another fabulous visit soon.
Remains a top 10 DC place -- the food, the service, and the atmosphere are superb -- proved to be a wonderful place to break from the quarantine in a serious and gracious manner.
Always a delicious meal and excellentservice. Glad to be back at our favorite restaurant.
