Staff were friendly and service was good but food was very average and over priced. My boyfriend who is French did not rate the food at all, i thought it was okay. I enjoyed the chocolate pudding. Only house wine available which was disappointing
I have been meaning to try this restaraunt for years and never got round to it, finally managed it and was extremely pleased. The husband and wife owners were very pleasant and made good suggestions when asked. The food was excellent my rabbit and prunes was one of the tenderest I have had in a restaraunt and my wife loved her goats cheese starter. But the stars were the deserts without doubt, absolutely delicious so much that I had two something I have never done before.
One of the best restaurant in Putney,
Lovely atmosphere and delicious food.
Especially desserts !
This restaurant is one in a million. Its that little gem that you stumble across the food and wine is top class and what lovely people.
It worth treating yourself
Quite dated in terms of food.
L'auberge is a small French restaurant situated in a small cottage, ran by a friendly couple, specialised in French cuisine. The menu comes with small yet innovative selections of starters, mains and desserts. As the venue small, its advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.
Food in general was a haven for foodies who crave for fresh flavours to satisfy their taste buds. the venison was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavours. The fish was aromatic with its creamy vanilla sauce, but i felt the rabbit was slightly dry and the sauce too salty for my liking. Lastly the dessert was just delicious, a must have for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Will look forward to our next visit when the summer menu is available.
A lovely evening, amazing friendly service and a fantastic wine list. We'll be going back.
We were warmly welcomed. The menu and specials of the day were explained promptly. Service was personal and efficient with well tailored advice for choice of wines. It was a little disappointing that the restaurant was not busier as the atmosphere was a little flat.
Very welcoming! It doesn't look great from outside but the food is great and the couple who run it are very keen to please. We had a great evening there and would definitely go back!
Went out for a special meal, on a rare occasion we has someone to care for our daughter, and it was totally worth it. Lovely host, amazing food and great athmospere. Will definitely repeat when we have a chance.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. It felt like they really cared and delighted in telling you about the food and drinks. Great portion size too. I would definitely recommend.
Extraordinarily imaginative dishes from a patissier chef who knows ALL his food. Unpretentiously intimate surroundings in an area where you just wouldn't expect to find such a gem. Doesn't seem to get the custom it deserves. 'Madame' is friendly, knowledgable and attentive.
L'Auberge is a wonderful, family-run French restaurant which was a fantastic dining experience for my wife and I for our anniversary. Very, very friendly service with attention to detail and very personal - something sadly lacking in most London restaurants. With the owner and chef being a patissiere and chocolatier the desserts were stunning, but equally the main courses were exceptional. Really nice small, seasonal menu with very good value for money set menu (2 or 3 courses) or slightly more expensive a la carte. A gem of a restaurant and we will definitely be going back and telling as many people as we can! Safe to say, we recommend!
Been here several times, and never disappointed with the food and service. Highly recommended!!
We went to L'Auberge to celebrate an engagement and had a really lovely evening. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and the food and wine were superb. It's not the cheapest of places but for a special occasion (or their regional nights which are a set menu and happen once a month) I would definitely recommend it.
I so wanted to give this little restaurant a chance as it looked sweet & with a name like L'Auberge I imagined it would have lovely home cooked French cuisine. How wrong could I be! I should have guessed it was going to be poor the moment I arrived on a Friday evening to meet my friend to find we were the only 2 guests. By 9pm there were 2 other couples. So the atmosphere was pretty dull.As for the food, what a huge disappointment. The onion soup was like dish water with a few pieces of onion floating around in it. There were no extras with it like cheese or toasted bread as you would expect. My sea bass was served with rice. Boring & tasteless. The apple tart was the best part of the meal. All the portions were small so we left hungry. Shame
We have gone a few times to have diner at l'auberge. The food is always very good, the owner is very friendly and gives good advice re wine to accompany meals. A little pricey but very nice night out
Despite being very quiet we always enjoy the excellent quality and choices on the menu. Choice of either 2-3 course set menu or the a la carte. A new wine was recommended and was delicious and reasonably priced. As we didn't have room for desert it was popped in a container for us to bring home and have the following day!
Food was nice but nothing special. Service was adequate but not welcoming, had to wait your turn. Not a lot of atmosphere
My family and I enjoyed a lovely meal here. We were warmly welcomed and well looked after throughout the meal. Although not a dessert person myself, I have to say the ones we had were outstanding - this was definitely the chef's area of expertise! Make sure you leave enough room!
Great evening but couldn't understand why we were the only people dining and this was a Thursday evening
I booked at L'Auberge for our wedding anniversary - we had a wonderful time and the food and service excellent. I wish we had found this restaurant sooner as the hosts are so friendly and could easily accommodate my wife's gluten free needs.
Lovely meal for two at short notice. Very attentive
A last minute booking but I'm glad we made it. Ticked all the boxes for us. We had the reduced £18 menu and although limited, there was a good choice. This is a very successful husband & wife business. The proprietress was charming and although quite busy, she found time to talk to us and reminisce about our time in France. Overall...you must try it.
Superb meal at l'auberge Putney. Incredible service and amazing food.
L'Auberge Putney another wonderful meal last night. The food is always excellent and very reasonably priced. It's a gem of a restaurant. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl. You won't be disappointed!
The four of us had dinner at L'auberge in Putney, and chose their monthly 'Taste of...' (in this case it was Normandy) set menu, which includes five courses at a very sensible price. As this wasn't our first time at L'auberge, we arrived with high expectations and I am pleased to say that we weren't let down. The menu is never too adventurous, but dishes are cooked to perfection, with desserts always a special treat. The service is attentive and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxed and homely.
This is an excellent restaurant. We went on a Friday night. The food was excellent. Very attentive service. We were surprised it wasn't a lot busier. Will definitey go back.
really good food and friendly service. the deserts are especially good. highly recommended.
L'Auberge Putney fabulous again and our friends who came too much enjoyed their first visit and will be returning
Another fabulous meal at L'Auberge Putney. Very happy to see it busier this time with a party table in full swing. This time we met the other owner who was helping out front of house. She was very charming and recommended a wine which was delicious and better suited to our chosen courses. We also collected some of their home-made fois gras as a starter for a dinner party at home 2 days later. It was amazing! Will definitely be returning and taking some friends hopefully next time
Returned to L'Auberge Putney last night. Once again delicious food, attentive service from owner and very reasonably priced. Such a pity the restaurant is so empty as it's a real gem for a relaxing evening and understated French food. Can't wait to go back.
L'auberge is a French husband and wife run restaurant, where the food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. They will offer advice and food/wine matching suggestions. Fantastic to support a local business that has a personal touch with the Chief husband often delivering the meals to the table and seeing us off at the door. Will be back again. (If you are a local to Wandsworth, they also do takeaway - one way to impress if eating at home :-)
Competent French food but no more than that. Atmosphere interesting. Perhaps a tad overpriced.
L'auberge in Wandsworth was perfect for a rainy august evening - cosy and welcoming, with great food and service. Very unassuming on the outside - we'd driven past before and never noticed it, but now we have we'll be back! A little quiet, due to rain and bank holiday, but would have great ambience if a little busier.
L'Auberge in Wandsworth was amazing. Food was delicious and service friendly. Was local, cosy and thoroughly enjoyable.
Absolutely amazing experience! The food was delicious and accompanied with amazing service you really can't ask for more! Will definitely go back!
L'auberge, Putney excellent food look forward to returning
L'auberge in Wandsworth is a delightful small French resturant. Full of character and friendly service. The food was truly excellent and clearly a great deal of enthusiasm, energy and expertise has gone into the menu. The wine was also very good and reasonably priced. I would definately recommend.
3 of us went for dinner at L'Auberge, Putney which is a cute little French restaurant not too far from East Putney tube. Inside reminded me of a place you might see when skiing, lots of charm. Food was authentic and tasty, would definately return.
