Excellent as usual. Bravo!
Consistent high standard of food and wine, welcome and service
I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and it provides consistently good food and value for money. It is an ideal venue for both business meetings and social events. As always the service was well-timed and friendly.
I have been visiting Le Cafe du Marche for over 30 years. Throughout the quality of the food and service have remained excellent. (I think the decor is unchanged too, but that is part of the charm of the place.) I would recommend unreservedly!
Everything was just perfect as usual. This has become our favourite restaurant and we will certainly be back again and again and again.......
It’s been over three years since my last visit it has maintained its high standards. A small but varied menu, well cooked and presented. Look forward to returning.
Soupe de Poisson, duck leg Bourguignon, cheese plate all impeccable. Nardi Brunello 2012 a decent value. I never had to fill my own wine glass; not that I mind, but it’s a sign of a (full) restaurant firing on all cylinders when you don’t. Subdued but buzzy. One of London’s best classic French restaurants.
Terrific as ever. Proper French cooking done well.
The halibut dish with hollandaise was superb.
Good selection on the menu and we both enjoyed our food. Look forward to returning in the near future.
Took one of my most important clients for lunch on a weekday, it turned out to be his favorite restaurant. I can see why - as you may expect from the name, it has a very french feel. The interior is spread across a couple of different areas and seating is well spaced.
We both started with the mushroom soup, then a pork and a rabbit all of which were simply presented and tasted good. I believe all main courses come with frites and salad and we washed it all down with a glass of champagne and a decent bottle of claret (£48). We finished with cheese and port.
The bill, including tip, was £198. A little more than I expected when I chose this restaurant and I feel I've had a more special experience elsewhere for this money. That said, if you like french food you will not be disappointed.
Great well run restaurant with good service, the flavours of France and bistro interiors - classic with ease. Wine list contains some headliners too.
An apposite spring menu with good vegetarian options, game was well represented. Frites should be left to the diner to salt.
Beautiful french setting, high quality very professional service, tasty dishes and decent prices
I have been to Cafe Le Marche many times with clients, colleagues and friends. The food is always wonderful and the staff superb! Formidable!
Took our friend as a belated birthday celebration. We were all very impressed with the restaurant- food service wine decor ambience. Cannot believe we didn’t know about this little gem before this visit
This return visit with a regular group was a mixed bag. The food was excellent - Cote de Boeuf, king prawn cocktail notably very very good, ambience improved as more diners arrived, but he service was poor. Our waiter plonked our plates down a la Basil Fawlty and the wine waitress (absolutely not a sommelier!) was a complete amateur despite our selections being at the higher end of CduM’s list.
Our group have been using CduM for 20+ years and on dozens of occasions between us ... heads were shaking and there were murmurings of this being a “last visit” for some. Personally, my core du boeuf saved the day, but I can’t promise others will return.
A sad evening; it was like attending the funeral of an old friend
Great food, wine, service and atmosphere. Never disappointed following multiple visits.
Great place for French fayre in central London. Although my guest was French and neither of the waiters who served us spoke a word! Also they had no mayonnaise for the fries - just ketchup - a travesty.
Excellent food and fast and attentive service
As excellent as it always has been. A perfect go to place.
Had a lovely eve to celebrate my birthday.
Food was good.
Lovely ambience, though would ha e been a lot nicer in the main room as we were tucked round a quiet corner with brighter lighting.
Piano playing was lovely in the background!
Lovely authentic French restaurant. The Cote de Boeuf is to die for!
Lovely atmosphere and impeccable service!
The food was very tasty, looking forward to going back and having dinner!
Food was great, authentic French, good choice of wine. Great ambience, good for special occasions. Place is nicely tucked at a mews, away from traffic. Would definitely return. Place was full, so the staff was very busy but patient.
One of those most perfect restaurants. The food, the staff, the wine were all outstanding, and having it tucked away in a small alley at Charterhouse only added to the atmosphere.
Really nice atmosphere and great food
My girlfriend really liked delicious food and nice atmosphere. We will definitely come back again.
Really wonderful evening - celebrated a birthday and were thoroughly looked after and treated to complementary birthday cake. The lamb dish to share was divine.
Impeccable and efficient service allowing us to eat easily without being late for our concert. Everyone enjoyed their food - a bunch of foodies with a French chef amongst our group - we have high standards !
I have visited La Café du Marche on average about once per year over the last 10 years or so and have never been disappointed. I ate with a friend last Thursday lunch time and the menu was varied and the service very quick. Its always a good choice to eat whenever I am in the city.
Having recently rediscovered Café du Marche after a 20 year break it is living up to its previous reputation. It a real old fashioned French restaurant, with great food, good service and a great ambiance. I really recommend it.
Amazing gem in centre of the city - you can imagine being in a small French village. The play de your is the way to go....
Delightful. Very good throughout and outstanding experience overall which may have had something to do with the company.
Delicious pre-concert dinner from specials menu. Quiet until 6.45, then began to fill rapidly. Attentive service. £76 for 2 with glass of wine each.
We have been here several times. French style restaurant. Tended to get quite busy at lunchtimes, with it seemed to me to have quite a few business lunches. It is small down a side alley just off Charterhouse Square. Not cheap but good food
There is an undoubted charm about this restaurant but that is not the only quality that it relies upon as the standard of food, wines, and service are all high and there is a feeling that this is normaly how it is
Food was lovely and the staff was very friendly. I couldn't complain about my experience.
Today’s fish, skate was amazing. Service was also excellent. We will definitely come back again!
Best restaurant in London. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent wine. Nothing else to say.
First time visiting and will definitely go back. Lovely food and great service
