So excited we could enjoy brunch here for our anniversary! We were seated right away outside and had fabulous, well-paced service over 3 courses. We especially loved the cocktails, tuna carpaccio, steak tartare and profiteroles. The lobster omelette was very rich with a creamy sauce over it - that’s the only thing I wouldn’t get again. Hope duck is back on the menu soon!
Food was amazing as always, even the bread basket is to die for. On this visit our waitress was very kind and informative. She truly made our experience wonderful!
First dinner out since covid and it was a magical experience! We ordered oysters, French onion soup, lobster and the sea bass and everything was mouth watering good!!! We sat outside 6ft apart from everyone and our waitress was the sweetest! Can’t wait to go back!
The best burger in DC and the best ambience!
Food is superb! Can’t wait to go back.
Service is terrific.
As always the wait staff is outstanding. Coronavirus has made the noise level much more tolerable!
Food was fantastic as always. Pretty much the best burger in DC. The ambiance is much different now in the age of social distancing as it really use to jump. the service was little confused as well, most likely due to all the changes caused with restaurants in a pandemic.
A+. Timothy was great.
No AC inside while under COVID and during intense heat wave. Uncomfortable seating and less than desirable ambience. Food was good, but not any better than any other DC restaurant. I would try someplace else.
Ordered the trout and it was delicious.
Le Diplomate does it again! I continue to be impressed with their house made bread, drinks, and classic menu. We had no particular occasion - except a friends get together after months of restaurants and bars being closed.
Used to come to Le Dip fairly regularly, but this was the first time since the pandemic that we'd come. We had a table on the patio, and it was perfect. Le Dip, as always, does a great job of making you feel like you are truly in Paris. The food was amazing, the ambiance was great (If anything, it was easier than it used to be to talk here), and they did a great job of socially distancing the tables. The tuna carpaccio and the warm shrimp salad were great to start with, the trout amandine and steak frites were perfect, and of course, you have to have the profiteroles to round out the meal. The only thing was the hostess was pretty rude, but we just chalked it up to adding to the French feel. Our server, Nabil, was fun and made recommendations we did not regret taking.
Overall, Le Dip is a classic and reliable part of the DC food scene, and covid hasn't changed that!
Le Dip still hasn't lost its friendliness and sparkle and Francophile hipness, even in the era of masks and social distancing. The tuna carpaccio appetizer is a must, as are gougères if you're not already filled up on bread. Also love the steak frites and roast chicken--you'll want to order a second side of the impossibly buttery mashed potatoes for dessert! Not a fan of the mushroom tart app: it's a lot of dry puff pastry topped off with mushrooms.
I love Le Diplomate. The food is always good (I always get the warm shrimp salad), the bread is great, and the service is professional and quick. I felt very safe in their spaced out, outdoor dining, and appreciated the measures taken to ensure safety. Their wine/drink list is a little limited, likely due to the pandemic, but otherwise, it's one of my favorite restaurants!
The warm shrimp salad is awesome. The frose was delicious. Saw rat running on side walk near where we were sitting but its also just a way of inner city living and outside dining. Dessert list could be better. Only had three about three options..
After a long day of moving in, we could not have been happier with the meal, the attention to details on social distancing, protocols for cleaning and the like. What a perfect place to end the day with an excellent meal with excellent staff.
The food was good, but the manager was extremely rude. A thunderstorm had come through and we had made a reservation for outdoor seating, and he told us (with an attitude) that we had to leave the restaurant and walk around until they texted us that a table was open (we were on time). Walk around in a thunderstorm?
We had a great time! Server was attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. I especially recommend the cheese platter and the oysters were a big hit with our party.
Amazing food and drinks
Excellent food as always and the service was great as ! It was great to return to one of our favorite places. The food here is just fantastic every time.
Birthday brunch! Delish!
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed. He had Eggs Norwegian and I had traditional Benedict. Lattes and Cappuccino were delicious too! Our waiter was flawless!
Just perfect! Great for a quiet Sunday morning. Thanks!
Everyone enjoyed their meal as well as the outstanding service!
Best restaurant in DC
The patio experience at Le Diplomate was outstanding. Our waiter, Geda, was friendly, helpful and fun. The tables were all appropriately spaced and everyone seemed to be taking social distancing seriously.
Our server was fantastic and food was outstanding, as always!!!!!
Thank you for making sure we are safe!
Delicious food, beautiful interiors and outdoor dining area. Service is perfect. Will definitely return.
Le Diplomate did a fabulous job of spacing out the tables and creating a comfortable dining environment. We ate outside and the food was amazing. We will be back!
I had the burger, and it was delicious as usual. My husband ordered the Eggs Norwegian and loved it. The bread basket was warm and wonderful. All around great experience.
Always reliable food and service. Done a good job of dealing with Covid concerns.
Disappointed they were out of Jacquesson 742 after praising Le Dip for having such an interesting and enjoyable champagne on their menu last week...
Although the food was good, we were given a bad table and spent the whole meal in very hot direct sunlight. Since this was a special event, the table placement was extremely disappointing.
This was a dinner for my 40th birthday and my best friend’s 43rd birthday. When I made the reservation, I noted it on Open Table. I also told the reservationist when he called to confirm. No one said a thing - nothing!!! - during our entire experience. I certainly did not expect anything big, but a “happy birthday!” would have been nice. Very disappointed in the service.
Had lunch around 2pm. We sat inside. Food and service was great, however, there were so many fly’s all over the place that we couldn’t wait to leave. It really destroyed the whole experience. They left the door wide open on a warm sunny day. I understand one or two but there were at least 10 fly’s constantly flying around us. It was absolutely terrible. It was unacceptable.
Fun! Waiter was extra nice and everything on the menu sounded like a dream!
From the moment we got there, our experience was special and we felt so taken care of. After hearing that their Lobster Risotto was a crowd favorite on the menu, we tried twice to make a Tuesday reservation to get it (it’s Tuesday night special). Right when we got there, I met the manager in passing and told him our hopes to finally try the special. He went out of his way to make sure we got it. And, it was delicious.
That is on top of the generosity of service from our waiter, the Parisian, romantic setting and the delicious wines.
Thank you for a FABULOUS experience
Note that we dined at Le Diplomate during social distancing--well less than 50% capacity inside. Normally it is not a quiet place. We ate inside; they also have tables outside, but at 90 degrees inside was better.
My choices: warm shrimp salad and trout with almonds. Salad was phenomenal, due to perfectly cooked shrimp and ripe avocado along with the greens. Trout was perfect. Spouse had foie gras pate, incredibly smooth, and the Tuesday night lobster risotto special. Both really good--lobster cooked perfectly. Splurged on an expensive bottle of white Burgundy. Perfect with these dishes.
When restaurants open fully, Le Diplomate will return to being packed. Good for them, even though that means it will again be tough to get a reservation. (We dined on a Tuesday night with reservations a week in advance.)
Food was amazing, server outstanding, restaurant decor charming
Bro sickest meal i’ve had in DC. Server was crazy good, food was even nuttier. I called my moms to tell her how ridiculously ill they were with it. FIVE STARS EACH AND EVERY DAY.
