I really hope Le Diplomate receives this review. My best friend and I had such a good time. I loved the private areas they built and our server Geda was amazing. He gave great recommendations, he was funny and he took great care of us. My meal was incredible and Geda even brought us a little treat. I really enjoyed everything.
This was for my beloved’s birthday. I had the scallops and he the had beef bourguignon. It was an elegant and perfect place for celebrating. Excellent service.
Amazing as always!
Amazing Covid outdoor experience! All was spectacular! The heaters, the service, the food, and the way they created lots of comfortable and safe outdoor space!! Relaxing and much appreciated getaway for these times!!
love the heated booths and service.......................
We were put on the outside corner (outside the hostess stand) which is more exposed to the “outdoors”, where we knew would be a little more chilly but assumed the heater would protect us. We quickly realized the heater dod not work. After sitting there shivering and asking both the hostesses as well as our waiter to help assist with the heat (several times), the problem was never resolved and we had to cut the brunch early and go home to warm up. Beyond that food was delicious per usual.
Loved the outdoor dining options that have been installed
The outdoor seating was transformative given current restrictions for restaurant dining. Very comfortable, well-lit, and conditioned. We felt very safe, and comfortable. And the food was fabulous!!!
The outdoor cubicles were perfect. The central blown in heat was perfect to heat the space and no noise of the usual patio heaters.
Adele was fantastic!
Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent outdoor dining experience considering it's January in DC. Clearly the organization has the capital to invest in a comfortable outdoor dining space & I applaud their decision to spend that capital. Well worth it for those dining.
We ate outside on a very mild January day. Sunshine and table-side warmers made it very comfortable. One of the best steak frites we have had in a long time and cooked exactly as we wanted. shared a side dish of haricots verts also tasty with butter and garlic. Fabulous server who brought us our requested copious quantities of house-made cranberry walnut bread
Covid 19 prevented us from a vacation in France this year and this was the next best thing
Great food. Excellent care for social distancing.
Le Dip is doing a wonderful job accommodating guests during a very difficult time. A different, but still excellent, experience.
I appreciate the need for restaurants to exhibit vigilance during this current climate of heightened coronavirus awareness, but approach is everything. Seeing a "NO MASK, NO SERVICE" sign when first approaching the hostess stand doesn't lend to feeling warmly welcomed by the restaurant. Being told repeatedly (three times) upon being seated that we are allotted only 1.5 hours to dine also corrupts the mood. At Parc, Le Diplomate's sister restaurant, paper menus and cloth napkins were provided when dining (outdoors as well). At Le Dip, it's paper napkins rolled around silverware and a lucite block with a URL code for scanning/accessing the menu. I have been a loyal patron of Le Diplomate since they opened and appreciate very much the economic toll the lockdowns have taken on restaurants; however, small adjustments could make the overall dining experience much more enjoyable and thus encourage repeat patronage from existing diners.
Dependable excellence.
Like the place - good food and service. They do not, however, seem to think it worthwhile to track frequent customers. Reception, seating, etc. seem to be on auto- pilot. Never any recognition, let alone attempt to address presences. Makes interaction rather generic and impersonal, especially compared to other DC restaurants.
Love the new heated pods outside! Will definitely be returning!
Perfect day in DC to sit outside and have a bowl of onion soup. The soup was delicious, service excellent - hope to do the same thing again soon.
We had a great dining experience despite “outdoor seating” in winter. The dining cubes were quite comfortable and surprisingly warm. Food was excellent and our waiter, David was a joy.
Uncomfortable metal chairs.
Food was delicious.
Service was average this time.
was disappointed to not be sat in one of the built in covered private tables that have been advertised but luckily we sat in a section with a wonderful server who compensated for the lack luster table that kept moving every time something was placed on the table. Other than that and the heat lamp that kept going out (our server was great and got someone to fix it after the second outage), service was amazing and the food, delicious. Can’t wait to come back and hopefully be able to sit inside next time!
Outdoor dining in the “street shacks” is the best dining can offer during COVID, especially in winter. You are safe and warm!
Amazing service and I loved the cute little huts, as that made outdoor dining such a fun and cool experience!
Amazing!!!!
My first time eating out at a reastaurant since the pandemic and it was great! The mussels were absolutely delicous and perfectly paired with fries. My friend raved about her steak frites entre as well as her french 75.
The outdoor pods were... a little chilly LOL (but totally to be expected in January). The pod itself was comfortable and intimate. The wait and bus staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a really good experience.
Fantastic experience. We were in the ‘tent’ outside, beautiful ambiance. Food was outstanding. Service was terrific, per usual.
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe our experience. Highly recommend
Food was delicious and service impeccable—enough said!
Our server Tim was amazing! Best experience. Love this place!
I love the staff, the outdoor seating, the food and the french flair. We always enjoy ourselves.
As always delicious, attentive service, remembered birthday without prompting. Warm outside Oasis during pandemic!
As our first Covid experience dining in at a restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised by how safe the entire experience was. Food was amazing as usual!
The food is great as usual. Service was perfect, very attentive.
The new outside dining is cute!
Love it. Will come back.
The entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. LeDip has gone to extraordinary measures to ensure that their outdoor dining experience is warm, safe and comfortable. We sat in one of the outdoor huts, which was clean and very warm. Our server was courteous and cautious and very attentive. The food was so so good. My husband and I had the Loup de mer which we loved. The kids had the warm shrimp salad which they devoured. We can’t wait to come back to DC so we can dine there again. I hope they keep the outdoor dining huts and pump air conditioning in the summer. It was fun! Well done!!
We ate in one of the outdoor cubicles- they were perfect! Heated individually, very safe - the best I have seen in the city. Everything else was perfect also - service and food. A wonderful experience during difficult times
My favorite place
Always the food was superb and the Le Diplomate has done an amazing job with the COVID protocols and the individual dining sections outside.
Le Dip is doing a great job at keeping guests comfortable during COVID. Overall a great experience!
The outdoor dining experience they created due to Covid was exceptional. You get your own private dining that actually has a heater built in for the cold weather. Noise was minimal due to the closed in space that you get.
Absolutely love this place! The service and food are always great, but a cool new addition is the outdoor seating they've built. Heat blasts through each section of seating and honestly, you kind of forget you're outside in the winter! My favorite restaurant in DC
