We went to lunch to celebrates my husband’s birthday, all the food was delicious. From the beginning with the delicious bread until the end!!
We will come back every time that we come to DC
Birthday dinner was made memorable by a step into Paris for the evening. Service, food, ambiance can’t be beat!
Muy rica la comida. El lugar muy agradable.
Food and drinks were fantastic as was dessert! The outdoor seating setup was very quaint and fun.
The food was outstanding but the manager was very awkward regarding wines. Actually pretended to know more than he did and made up some story about a wine being bad when we know they just didn’t have it. Overall if a restaurant is going to serve such excellent food and have a strong wine list at least hire someone who knows about wine.
We looked forward to returning to Le Diplomate for the first time since pre-pandemic. The food and service were every bit as good as we remembered -- and kudos to the wait staff and the kitchen for that. My caution would be about outdoor dining: due to rising Covid variant infections, we opted for outdoor dining. Unfortunately, we were not seated along relatively quiet Q Street, alongside the exterior wall of the restaurant; instead, we were situated in a cubby built in the former parking lane of 14th Street, where cars, buses, trucks, and motorcycles zoomed by throughout the evening. This is not to fault Le Diplomate for our unfortunate accommodation, but I would STRONGLY recommend that if you are going to sit outside, then try to score a table along Q Street, not 14th Street.
Hope to visit again when we're truly post-pandemic.
they do not have experienced servers and the food was terrible. Basically had french fries and bread for dinner. The men's restroom was disgusting. The steak came rare instead of medium and was too tough to chew. Two sent it back and the steak came back well done. We have eaten there many times and this was a terrible experience. We were celebrating three birthdays. So disappointing
I have always enjoyed Le Dip, but lately I am finding it has fallen flat for me, and I go there less and less often. The food is consistent, especially the burger, so my comment is on the service. The wait staff just seems less welcoming. Perhaps our waiter was having a bad day. Perhaps. He was a bit patronizing and abrupt, and then was mostly absent. They were out of an item we ordered, and the manager was extremely apologetic, and we really appreciated his going above and beyond for a such a small issue, so it was a real shame that the waiter is not on the same page and instead is a rather tepid personality.
Food was impeccable! We did sit outside on a very very hot day so that was a downfall. Also the wait staff accidently spilt a frose on the table and some got onto me (which was by not means on purpose, it was absolutely an accident) but it was unfortunate. The food is always to die for though and we will be going back (just sitting inside)
Such a great time celebrating a birthday. The food was full of flavor and so fast. The pastries, entrees, and desserts were so good and authentic. Timothy, our waiter, created such a wonderful experience. Would definitely go back for any occasion!!
Another great evening at Le Dip! Reliably delish French classics, wonderful service. A bit too loud, am glad we were just a party of two, but that’s sort of what you get at a bistro in Paris too
The best bread anywhere! Excellent service!
Always a great experience all around. Delicious food, friendly staff, and excellent service.
Our waiter was great. The brunch food seems to have declined in quality recently though
Lovely bistrot meal. Reminded us of Paris dining.
Food was very good, but it was very loud, very crowded. Could barely hear the waiters. Not as fancy of a restaurant as we were told. I think experience would’ve been a lot better if we sat outside!!
The place is wonderful as usual! Food, service, music, atmosphere are amazing!
Loved this restaurant, will definitely be back! Good French experience
This place transports you back to Paris. From the jazz playing to the fresh cut bread it will make you want to return again. Food was great and the drinks were flowing. Make a reservation well in advance since this will fill up.
Fantastic as always. A DC staple that survived the pandemic and came out with the same stellar level of service and food.
Food was excellent, especially the oysters. Beef bourgignone was really good. Server and overall service was excellent as well. Had a great time.
The entrees came out right after we finished the oysters which felt too soon. We wished we had a few minutes pause before diving into another course. We also had cold air blowing on us where we were seated which felt uncomfortable (was a mild evening). Restaurant was rather crowded.
The restaurant is excellent, nothing out of place, and the food is delicious. The staff takes pride in their service delivery; Nabil, try and ask for him.
Great lunch sitting in the outdoor booths. All food was excellent!
Amazing food amazing service 5 stars! Le diplomat never disappoints
Chibak = best server ever
Great food! Wouldn't recommend Profiterole if you don't like banana and chocolate together. Crème brûlée is extraordinary. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for antipasti Ricotta Ravioli, Mushroom Tart, Onion Soup Gratinée, for entrees Salmon, Steak Au Poivre, and Steak Frites. The steak is SOOOO GOOD! For a person who doesn't like red meat, salmon is a perfect choice! Lots of wine selection and they have a quite a bit outdoor seating that is social distanced. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FOOD HERE!
Awesome food/service. Great spot.
Lovely venue. Great bread. Chicken paillard was tough and chewy. No steak salad option despite a $38 steak frite option on the menu. Weak lunch choices. Mostly a destination for the ambience.
It was great!
Food was incredible. Service was spectacular. Order the profiteroles for dessert...
Such a great unique and amazing spot! We were visiting from Chicago and celebrating a special birthday and everything was amazing. They adjusted our reservation for us when we ran into a transportation issue so we didn’t have to miss the special celebration. We will definitely be back the next time we’re here!
The bread and butter were amazing and the staff was friendly. But sitting outside it smelled like garbage, which was hard to take. I'm sure it would have been lovely sitting indoors, though it was really cold in there when I went in for the restroom. The burger was good but too salty - and I like a lot of salt. My husband's fish was under-seasoned, but the bean salad that came with it was really delicious, bright and flavorful. He enjoyed his escargot. The service was fine. Overall, I wasn't very impressed considering the amazing choices we have in DC. I probably wouldn't go back but would be happy to accompany my husband if he wants to.
Second time I had eaten at Le Dip and was just as good as the previous time. I think the check came to $230 + tip for dinner for two including a bottle of wine and other drinks. Service and food were both superb and the ambience is hard to beat,
The escargot and Bread is to die for. Can’t wait to go back!
The ambience here is really unmatched. We felt totally transported to France and the food is delicious as well.
Great spot for a wonderful leisurely lunch
Le Diplomate has proven to be a neighborhood mainstay these past months. Consistently good food and service. Kirsten was our server on Monday. She has great instincts and really delivered good service.
