Le Garrick - Covent Garden
butternut squash puree, capers & crispy bacon
Slow cooked beef marinated in red wine served with new potatoes, vegetables and lardons
Atmospheric little french restaurant friendly staff and good food. You won’t regret booking here .
Exceptional value for food. 2 courses for less that £14 near Theatreland. House wine was good. Cocktail less so.
Service attentive overall but observed that some waiters better than others as didn’t receive bread, or were talked thru food options as observed other waiters doing.
Busy atmosphere. Excellent and friendly service. Quite squashed in but that made for a friendly environment. Food choices good and food itself good. Ideal location for Covent Garden, including the Royal Opera House.
Le Garrick offers a good value pre-theatre meal, with quite large portions, I ambitiously thought I'd get a 3 course menu but the main defeated me. The staff were amazing and the service was excellent.
However, Le Garrick claims on its website that it "is one of the best french restaurants in London, famous for its french cuisine and french food in the heart of Covent Garden." In my opinion it isn't - while it's a very atmospheric restaurant the food hasn't been put together with care.
The cheese on the onion soup wasn't melted, much like the large slice of baguette it felt added as an afterthought, the moules marinière tasted like they'd been passed through warm milk and sprinkled with parsley. However, my other guests seemed to enjoy their meal.
Lovely authentic French restaurant right in the heart of London. Friendly, welcoming staff. Traditional French decor and ambience inside. Moules Frites were delicious and fresh. Excellent service throughout. Cannot fault this place at all.
Food was amazing and the Staff really friendly. We will definitely go back for another visit
Good, authentic French food. Always reliable in my experience.
Very delicious and very french seeming! The servers were very nice and the food came quickly too!
A pre theatre birthday meal. The team were brilliant. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and service and only a few minutes away from the theatre.
Excellent lunch in a quiet booth downstairs. Attentive service at all times
Good price tasty food would definitely go back to try different foods on the menu
Our server, who told us she was studying in her 3rd year at LSE, was among the best I have EVER encountered. She had a calm, relaxed, manner coupled with an obvious wit and warmth. The food was above average, the french fries were disappointing to be honest, but a pleasant place to go if your foodie expectations are not too high
We had a great night in Le Garrick, probably the best service we've ever had - nothing was too much trouble, we felt so welcome, food was excellent too! We will definitely be back and will recommend to friends and family!
had a great meal with a group of 6, the service is excellent, food is good simple French cuisine that always tastes great. The ambience in the restaurant is perfect.
Excellent service and attention . We had the pre-theatre menu which was good value for the location.
Really helpful and friendly waitress looked after us so well.
I love this place. Been going for years. Its great downstairs for a cosy evening meet and upstairs for a Saturday lunch between shopping.
It was our first time at Le Garrick. We were celebrating my partner’s birthday & I had kept the restaurant as a surprise. I requested the window table at the time of booking & the restaurant honoured my request which I was extremely pleased with. The atmosphere was cosy, inviting, relaxing & the decor very beautiful as well as elegant. Our waitress Emilie was fantastic. Very friendly & knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. So yes service was excellent.
The food was incredibly tasty & both myself as well as my partner thoroughly enjoyed our starters & mains. My partner was extremely impressed with Le Garrick & had one of the specials for his main, whole sea bream which he couldn’t praise highly enough. He had the scallops for starter which he said was excellent too.
I had the calamares for starter which was extremely tasty & one of the best dishes I have ever had in a restaurant. I had the beef stew for main which was excellent. The dish was very tasty & the meat extremely tender.
We were a little bit disappointed when we were told that there were no more creme brûlée’s available for dessert as we had been looking forward to this French classic. As our booking was at 6pm we found it strange that the restaurant should run out of a dish so early in the evening. We decided not to have any dessert but this didn’t detract from our overall enjoyment & wonderful experience at Le Garrick. Our waitress Emilie surprised us with an aperitif which was a very strong, tasty & warming which we both enjoyed.
I strongly recommend Le Garrick & we will most certainly be returning.
Fantastic restaurant brilliant for pre or post theatre. They have a set menu or general menu to choose from. We chose from the set menu French onion soup or pate, onglet, moules or goat cheese salad, lemon tart or icecream. All well presented and tasting great. Best lemon tart in London. Service is great I always enjoy a trip to le garrick
Went for pre-theatre menu which was really good value and nice food. Thought we’d left plenty of time but felt a bit rushed at the end. Very good service from lovely French waitress.
Great food and service, we will be coming back next time.
Fabulous, atmospheric, intimate post theatre supper. Wonderful service, food & cocktails. Set to be our New fav.
Very good quality for the food and the wine specially for this price in London. I warmly recommend it.
Food and service was excellent, thank you
Ordered house wine and also was very good
Pate, steak and mussels delicious
We've been to Le Garrick quite a few times over the years and have always enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately on this occasion we felt very rushed to order, no time in the conversation to order any sides and our courses arrived within minutes. As soon as one course was finished our plates removed immediately and the next course arrived. We waited no longer than five minutes for our starters, French Onion Soup and Pate, although the soup was lovely I found the pate to be very dry as if it had been sat on the side in the kitchen for a while. Main meals and deserts were very nice, just felt I was being force fed so that our table could be cleared ready for another booking. Such a shame as really love this place and the staff very friendly.
Staff lovely ..but rushed and a bit confused ..did not know what was on specials and brought our main with starters together.. but we think was just maybe a new member. Other staff more proficient.
Restaurant too many tables, felt cramped and added to the volume .
But overall a pleasant meal, and lovely you were not rushed to eat and go.
Prices very reasonable.
Highly recommend this authentic French restaurant. The owners were both extremely efficient and welcoming and the pre theatre meal was served quickly and was very tasty.
The best authentic French cuisine I’ve tasted in London, and good value for the money. The ambiance is like the 1920’s Paris!
Fab pre theatre meal. All perfect. Such good value
Pre-theatre menu is an excellent value.the place was busy but the tables are placed is small cosy alcoves so you are not overheard nor overlooked.the food was tasty.Staff very sweet however we had to keep reminding that we have tickets for a play and need to be out on time and can’t afford to wait long for the food or the bill.
I would definitely comeback or recommend the place to my friends
We celebrated a 60th birthday on a very busy sat night but were looked after extremely well great food, service . Will definitely return thank you So much.
Service was great but food was disappointing. Fish arrived slightly underdone which the lovely waitress noticed and returned it to kitchen.
We all thoroughly enjoyed Le Garrick.
The staff were all very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The menu was straightforward and the food was traditional and quite basic - that is NOT a criticism as it was wonderfully prepared and the taste superb.
We will definitely return.
Very attentive staff who were very friendly and kind. It was my friends birthday and we briefly mentioned this at the start. For dessert, they brought a cake with a candle and complimentary liquer shots.
Pre-theatre dinner, excellent value. Really good food and service. Great little restuarant
Lovely little place, like entering a rabbit warren. Very authentic French. Overall food was good quality, service excellent. Recommended
Dinner at Le Garrick was very nice. Though it's a large space it was a little cramped but that's mainly because it was busy and you're underground in a cellar type environment. It's lovely fun with a relaxed vibe and dinner was casual but very nice. Service was prompt and the waitresses were very smiley and helpful!
Absolutely faultless on every front. Food was excellent and the service first class. Thank you
Food was exceptional, staff were attentive and helpful, restuarant was beautifully clean. Have already recommended to family and friends!
