Le Garrick - Covent Garden
As always, it was a pleasure to visit this friendly restaurant. It is one of my favourite restaurants in the West End.
Great place and very reasonable. Went here for my birthday dinner. We could talk well, and was cosy. Perfect spot for all occasions.
Le Garrick is one of my families favourite restaurants. Everything about it is perfect for a really lovely evening. The food and wine are of a very good quality and high standard. The ambience and service is impeccable.
We arrived at 8pm, 15 minutes early and were invited to have a drink at the bar, which was fine. At our table, our order wasn’t taken until 8.45, and this was only because I had to get up from the table and find a waitress. Water was later brought to the table but we had to ask for glasses. The food was OK but I refused to pay the “voluntary” service charge because the service was so slow. It’s a shame because I like the restaurant and have eaten there often. I won’t be rushing back after this experience.
Very characterful place with a real buzz. Great staff and the food was fabulous - adored the cassoulet.
The Garrick manages to put tables where you wouldn't think it were possible which produces a lively atmosphere... but the tables are small! The food is excellent and providing it can fit on the table with the wineglasses, water and bottle of wine all is well. Staff are very attentive and we had a lovely evening.
Very good. Delicious food. Good service. Borderline between bustling and a bit cramped. Toilets need cleaning!!
We found the noise level a bit much, but this was made up for by the food and the friendliness of staff.
Friendly and prompt service. Food good but not exceptional
Excellent food, good service and a very welcoming atmosphere. Le Garrick is always reliable.
The Maitre'd was over aggressive in insisting he wanted the table back at 7pm instead of making us feel welcome. We left at 6-10 pm. We arrived at 4-50 with very loud wrap type music playing for the staff's benefit ( ? ) Not the best experience.
Warm welcome, delicious food, excellent wine, excellent service, great value
We had a table for 2, which was meant to be romantic. Instead we were seated downstairs right next to a group of 4 having a very lively meal. It was really noisy, the waiter then wanted to put a wine bucket on the ridiculously small table which already had a tin bucket of cutlery!?!
The food tasted ok, but it was disappointing overall.
Perhaps it would be ok for a lunch or a meal with friends but not for a nice evening out.
I have always enjoyed spending an evening in Le Garrick. The family atmosphere makes it welcoming and an intimate experience.
The staff are excellent and always on hand but never intrusive.
Thank you to all staff who made my visits pleasurable and I look forward to coming again.
Really cosy restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. We had the excellent value, pre-theatre menu on a Saturday, the restaurant was very busy but service was still great. The food was delicious too.
Great little restaurant. Although bit concerned that the service was a bit slow for a pre-theatre place. We were a table of 8 and he staff were helpful and friendly.
Excellent pre-theatre menu and food quality was beautiful, the service seemed slightly impersonal but we were in and out quickly and had the most delicious moules!
Food was cold (pre theatre menu), would not recommend
One of us had very under cooked mussels
When we raise the issue we were told they looked normal however the chef will look at the evidence
We were charged for them and we are still waiting for the chef’s feedback
The other dishes ok but we won’t go back again
When I booked the table I made a comment that one of us was gluten and dairy free. When we arrived the waiter picked that up straight away and explained most of the menu was GF because they use cornflour. Also asked if my daughter was Coeliac or just intolerant and advised accordingly and if she happened choose anything with dairy he would let her know. She did choose a desert which had dairy and the kitchen sent a waitress to tell her. Excellent communication ! Service was excellent through out. Food lovely, only minit criticism..skinny chips were a little crispy so had to eat with fingers but theres nothing wrong with a little finger food ! Ambience was lovely, very cosy, great for a romantic meal out. Price as you would expect but and excellent priced set pre / post theatre menu. Looking forward to returning 😊
The food was very poor quality, and I was so looking forward to a lovely meal after the theatre, and then back to a lovely stay in my hotel, after being back at my hotel, an hour or so later I spent the evening being sick, so not only was my evening ruined, I also wasted money! I hadn’t eaten anything else only the food from the restaurant.
My wife and I ate here before a show at the Coloseum. I was very impressed by the staff from the moment we arrived and they were attentive until the moment we left. The food was excellent and I would happily return (possibly even with the kids next time). I would recommend booking, though . We were sat by the front door and we repeatedly heard the Maitre d' turning people away without reservations.
Having booked a couple of weeks in advance we arrived 10 minutes early but were seated immediately. Staff were first rate. Food was good though if I had a minor criticism the French Fries were just warm rather than hot but it didn't spoil the night. Yes I would return.
As always, a great authentic french menu and friendly service. We booked our table before a theatre show so the restaurant wasn't too busy but there was a bit of a wait for our mains. I was looking forward to seeing the new renovation but didn't really know what had changed. If I'm honest it felt that the ambience was 'missing' something and it didn't feel as cosy as it was before.
Nice, cosy atmosphere. The staff are very friendly. The place feels quite authentic, and it's great if you are looking for a place for a romantic date, but I can't say the same for the food. The food tasted rather too much commercialized. It reminded me of another chain, Cafe Rouge. It was also relatively expensive, I would wish for more authentic/high quality food if I were to pay that much again.
Very enjoyable neal with excellent service. Lovely ambience. Scallops starter was very good as was the Plat de jour, a chicken and rice dish. A very reasonable priced Pinot Noir washed the meal down!
Great food and service and cosy atmosphere, definitely will come again, many thanks!
When I miss France it’s definitely my place to go! My favorite french restaurant in London, service and the staff is always good, the food is great and fod a very good value
I chose to eat here because of the proximity to the theatre (I was seeing School of Rock) and for the pre-theatre deal. For 3 full courses it was only £17 per person (not including drinks) which is a great deal. The food was fantastic and it reminded my boyfriend of when he studied in Paris. Would go there again!
I booked this restaurant based on reviews. I want to make it clear that this review is not based on the staff or the service as both of these things were excellent.
I was disappointed with the French onion soup. The crouton wasn’t toasted as expected and the gruerer cheese was simply sprinkled on top - I was looking forward to that toasted cheese taste. The alcohol taste was also very apparent in the soup - more subtle would have been more enjoyable.
The steaks were delicious ☺️
The worst part of the experience was the toilets. I’m unclear whether someone had been very ill in there prior to my use but i was unable to stand being in there (as were my friends). The toilet was right beside the bar and I am surprised this wasn’t addressed as it remained the same when one of my friends went later.
I love this place. Friendly, good food and excellent value. Great for lunch and pre theatre, slap bang in the middle of the west end.
Fabulous authentic french food and wine with great service and atmosphere!
Lovely ambiance and amazing food! Lovely french choices with good authenticity
Vibrant basement restaurant with friendly, competent staff. Good traditional French food and wine at very reasonable prices for Central London. I always enjoy eating there.
Excellent service with very friendly staff.
Good quality food at a reasonable price.
We will return again soon.
4th visit, and I've been very pleased with the service and food again.
Lovely and cosy atmosphere. The staff is brilliant and attentive.
On this occasion not so good but service and wine excellent.
Birthday meal, great service and food.
Lovely meal for me and my friends with great service
Good French food which I thought was a bit on the expensive side if you have a full meal
