Evening standard menu great value Wonderful setting on outside table overlooking Tower Bridge
We set in one table and 10 minutes after the guy said we will close the kitchen.
Business lunch. Great view of Tower Bridge. Felt special. Oysters superb. Squid average. Steak was medium rather than medium rare. Dessert fabulous. Lovely coffee. Good but could have been better
It was a good menu with choices for dietary restrictions as well. But the service was not prompt even though the restaurant was half empty. Would not like to go their again.
We used to go years ago and the bar side of the restaurant was super pleasant. It used to be the slight casual arm of the establishment but still with white table cloth and excellent service. However, now it has become way too casual and has lost the ambiance.
First visit for me. It’s definitely worth a visit through the summer as the riverside location is great, but otherwise it’s got nothing that marks it as somewhere special to me. Food, service, value... all average.
Food was not good. Service extremely slow. We were waiting for a bill for 30min and the place was not even that busy
Big table so service was a bit slow. Food was very good and great environment
I took my wife and 8 month old son here for a Mother’s Day lunch as it was one of the few restaurants in the area that didn’t implement an overpriced set menu for Mother’s Day.
The main courses were great,
Great location and this place never fails to be a little bit special. We went for a Saturday lunch and although the restaurant wasn't busy it didn't lack atmosphere. We enjoyed a speedy lunch prior to going to The Bridge Theatre. The food is fresh and the service is attentive but not obtrusive. Some areas of the restaurant look a little tired in the daylight (ladies loos and the doors to the toilets)
We had the brunch menu on Sunday. Quality of meat and fish was far below expected. Completely overprized.
Poor quality of food and service in the brasserie section. 7 of us dined on Tuesday evening on the set menu offer they do during the week. The steak was very fatty and all the chips they served on the table had been cooked too much they were completely hard. I complained to 3x different people about the chips and they didn't bring fresh ones. When the manager came over (after we had all finished) he asked how everything was and I told him disappointing having already told 2 of his staff. At that point he said he will get some more but we had all finished so was pointless. At the very least I would have thought they would have offered something - teas/ coffees/ desserts on the house but they said nothing and the girl was not apologetic or pleasant. They handed the bill to another person on the table with the full cost and no acknowledgement of the poor service. Having complained, they then took some money off. Quite disappointing given its a local restaurant for me and I brought my work team. I will not be in a hurry to go back.
Delicious food and good service. We dined on a Friday evening which was not busy, so perfect for us as dinner was a catch up with friends.
Hadn’t been for a while, thought we’d try it again. Wish we hadn’t. Food poor, service worse. ...... only saving grace is the location. So try somewhere else nearby. Pret?
Excellent food and service as always!
Solid lunch spot for a business lunch
Really enjoyed it. Fantastic food.
Casual and very nice place in front of Tamisa. Food food and reasonable prices.
I took my 2 teenage children for an early dinner as their mother was away. We had the pre theatre set menu, as our ideal mean is squid and then steak the menu. They were delighted by the meal and experience and I was delighted to take the credit and very reasonably priced.
Delicious food. Catching up with close friends
Attended for our anniversary. Lovely bar, excellent service, ambience etc. However, not made aware that we would be sitting in the bar as opposed to restaurant when booking. Starters okay , though nothing out of the ordinary. Beef main course excellent, sides again nothing special. Expensive, but worth it for the atmosphere to a point ...
With my new food intolerance it’s difficult to find things I’m able to eat. The chef was more than accommodating. I was able to still have the brunch set menus adapted for my diet. The service was impeccable. Love the bar area. Great ambiance. Will be back again soon!
£15 for 2 courses whilst looking at Tower Bridge! Good food, excellent service. Not my first visit and not my last!
Staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. It was a bit more money than I expected.
It was really nice visiting this place. It was me and two friends with quiet celebration of one of them’s birthday. I totally forgot I promised to talk to them about who’s the birthday person. We even forgot it’s a birthday dinner. 😄 So when they came with the plate and the candle we were all puzzled for a while and pleasantly surprised. The desert was amazing. Not so impressed wit the rest but I’m a bit picky with food. We didn’t know what we want to drink so the watress suggested cocktails for me and one of the others. Mine was Amazing! Got it on my notes!
Met up with an old friend from out of town and, following a leisurely stroll along the South Bank, had a late two course ‘Bon Brunch’ at Pont de la Tour. We readily accepted the offer of a table on the terrace, overlooking Tower Bridge and decided to have the inclusive Prosecco offer. We both went for the skate wing which was tasty and ‘meaty’ with some additional sides of broccoli and green beans. A very enjoyable and chilled afternoon.
Always a favourite place of mine. The location makes it a bit special, good for a date or romantic meal. Great service in a nice room with attentive staff. I would recommend the restaurant for anyone who wants a nice intimate meal in surroundings that are a bit special. I have always had good experiences at Le Pont de la Tour and have been going there for 20 years.
We had the set menu which was amazing value . Food was lovely .
The bar was fairly quiet but it was a Tuesday evening . However that meant that staff had time to attend to every detail - service was truly excellent .
Great evening . Thank you .
Very good and will go again !
Food was good. Excellent service and value for money
We were pretty disappointed with the experience. I have been here a few times before and always enjoyed it. This time we had a Evening Statndard menu, which seems like amazing value, but the food was actually really basic and there was only a choice of 2 starters, as the squid was “finished” (even though we were dining at 6.15). The beetroot stater was meagre and underwhelming. My salmon muffin was like aaverage pub food. The service was slow and inattentive. Overall I was really disappointed with what has always been a great restaurant.
We booked for a mid-week lunch using the Evening Standard special offer but the menu was not given to us on arrival and we had to ask for it. There were 3 starters to choose from but the one we wanted, crispy squid, had run out which was a shame. Went for the ham hock terrine and beetroot tartare, both were OK but nothing special.
Choice of 3 main courses. We both went for the rump steak, which was absolutely divine. However, the deal(2 courses including a glass of wine for £15.00) didn't include sides so we had to pay £4.95 each for a small portion of fries to accompany the steaks. We thought this was a bit cheeky!
The setting is great- right overlooking the River Thames - and I would go back just for this. Had a good time overall and would recommend.
My husband and I made a reservation at Le Pont de la Tour Bar & Grill after an event at The Tower of London. Unfortunately it was a very hot evening and the restaurant had no air-conditioning and it was smoldering inside. We asked to wait for a table outside or sit at dine at their higher end restaurant next door outside -- whichever had a table available first. Everyone else also wanted to be outside. The staff were overworked, hot but very professional and friendly. We did get a table outside after waiting at our original booking but the food was just ok. I can imagine how how the chefs were in the kitchen! I was disappointed.
Sitting outside looking at Tower Bridge with a sunset behind is one of the joys of this restaurant. The steak was really good, let down by an odd beetroot-goat's cheese starter that looked like it was made in a Home Economics class by a 14 year old. Brilliant service, great location, wonderful ambiance.
Excellent food and service. Will gladly return the next time that we are in lovely London!
Great mid week supper sitting on the terrace with stunning views over the river. Fabulous value two course meal for only £15, with possibly the best calamari I’ve ever tasted.
Absolutely wonderful evening! Our waitress was incredibly calm despite having a large amount of tables and remained friendly and helpful throughout the service. The manager on duty was also very helpful and not afraid to roll up her sleeves and jump in to help. Both provided excellent service with a smile and it was very appreciated! Will be back soon!
A very disappointing experience. I chose it because it looked nice online and thought the location was very special. We were in the brasserie which in fact was just an extension of the bar area. Service was slow. Food shockingly overpriced and not anything more than I could cook at home. £15 for a mediocre burger served with nothing. Had to pay extra for some chips! A cheap tiny risotto in what looked like a cereal bowl which was eaten in 30 seconds it was so small. Two baskets of bread cost £8. Feel conned and sad it was my son’s 18 birthday meal.
Very poor service, sat for 5 mins then had to ask for menus and then for the wine list. The lady who sat us at our table should have handed these to us. Instead she chose to stand at her desk waiting for someone to walk through the door! I’ve dined here many times over the last few years and always enjoyed it but this time has put me off returning.
