Food was good. Excellent service and value for money
We were pretty disappointed with the experience. I have been here a few times before and always enjoyed it. This time we had a Evening Statndard menu, which seems like amazing value, but the food was actually really basic and there was only a choice of 2 starters, as the squid was “finished” (even though we were dining at 6.15). The beetroot stater was meagre and underwhelming. My salmon muffin was like aaverage pub food. The service was slow and inattentive. Overall I was really disappointed with what has always been a great restaurant.
We booked for a mid-week lunch using the Evening Standard special offer but the menu was not given to us on arrival and we had to ask for it. There were 3 starters to choose from but the one we wanted, crispy squid, had run out which was a shame. Went for the ham hock terrine and beetroot tartare, both were OK but nothing special.
Choice of 3 main courses. We both went for the rump steak, which was absolutely divine. However, the deal(2 courses including a glass of wine for £15.00) didn't include sides so we had to pay £4.95 each for a small portion of fries to accompany the steaks. We thought this was a bit cheeky!
The setting is great- right overlooking the River Thames - and I would go back just for this. Had a good time overall and would recommend.
My husband and I made a reservation at Le Pont de la Tour Bar & Grill after an event at The Tower of London. Unfortunately it was a very hot evening and the restaurant had no air-conditioning and it was smoldering inside. We asked to wait for a table outside or sit at dine at their higher end restaurant next door outside -- whichever had a table available first. Everyone else also wanted to be outside. The staff were overworked, hot but very professional and friendly. We did get a table outside after waiting at our original booking but the food was just ok. I can imagine how how the chefs were in the kitchen! I was disappointed.
Sitting outside looking at Tower Bridge with a sunset behind is one of the joys of this restaurant. The steak was really good, let down by an odd beetroot-goat's cheese starter that looked like it was made in a Home Economics class by a 14 year old. Brilliant service, great location, wonderful ambiance.
Excellent food and service. Will gladly return the next time that we are in lovely London!
Great mid week supper sitting on the terrace with stunning views over the river. Fabulous value two course meal for only £15, with possibly the best calamari I’ve ever tasted.
Absolutely wonderful evening! Our waitress was incredibly calm despite having a large amount of tables and remained friendly and helpful throughout the service. The manager on duty was also very helpful and not afraid to roll up her sleeves and jump in to help. Both provided excellent service with a smile and it was very appreciated! Will be back soon!
A very disappointing experience. I chose it because it looked nice online and thought the location was very special. We were in the brasserie which in fact was just an extension of the bar area. Service was slow. Food shockingly overpriced and not anything more than I could cook at home. £15 for a mediocre burger served with nothing. Had to pay extra for some chips! A cheap tiny risotto in what looked like a cereal bowl which was eaten in 30 seconds it was so small. Two baskets of bread cost £8. Feel conned and sad it was my son’s 18 birthday meal.
Very poor service, sat for 5 mins then had to ask for menus and then for the wine list. The lady who sat us at our table should have handed these to us. Instead she chose to stand at her desk waiting for someone to walk through the door! I’ve dined here many times over the last few years and always enjoyed it but this time has put me off returning.
Great food great service and great views
What a great find! Will definitely be back. The atmosphere and service were fantastic and the food was delicious.
I went for a bottomless brunch in the Bar & Grill and the service and food was excellent.
The food, service and ambience are all great. The OpenTable set menu is quite limited. I was surprised that the only meat main course option was a croque monsieur. It was an amazing croque monsieur and tasted fabulous, but not what I was expecting as a main for a special meal.
Having a cocktail included made the meal great value and the apple martini was fabulous.
Took my mum and Dad out for Mother’s day and really loved the three course brunch menu. The quality of food was consistently great, and the service struck a good balance of attentiveness and giving us space. Would recommend.
Fantastic place service and food we were there celebrating our anniversary and we were recommended here and we couldn’t have been more impressed with everything
Very tasty good value with Open Table
Dont get carried away with cocktails though ! as we found out made it v very expensive !
Starters poor, main course much better, but almost empty at lunchtime.
Visits by the waiting staff to our table too frequent and therefore intrusive. £3.50 for four semi-dry slices of bread was ridiculous. However, nice ambience and the staff were well meaning.
It was not the first time we went to this restaurant, but after this dinner I don’t think I will go back again. Service was really poor, just thinking to leave...We went for the menu and they didn’t have all the dishes available, so we didn’t have too much to choose. We need to remind them several times to get the drinks...It was a special occasion with friends, so I felt really embarrassed.
A lovely venue with the added bonus of tremendous views of the Thames and Tower Bridge .
It may have been that I had developed an impression of Le Pont de la Tour from walking past it and looking online, but I'm afraid it was quite different to how I expected it to be. The staff were wonderful, amiable, and prompt - I commend them. The food was enjoyable but not of the quality I was expecting. Suffice to say I will be returning but it won't be a main choice for the area.
Good food, although the starters could have been more exciting. Pre-dinner cocktails were excellent. This place has, as the name indicates, a superb view of Tower Bridge and it is definitely their USP. Service was brilliant up to the moment when my friend had 4 glasses of wine accidentally tipped all over her but the complimentary champagne and the fullsome apologies did help to assuage her feelings! The outdoor terrace is cosy.
There is a really lovely ambience to the bar and grill, relaxed and very comfortable. We had the Evening Standard menu which was excellent value for money . The mussels were delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly and helped to make our meal an even more enjoyable experience.
I will definitely return another time.
We went to Le Pont de la Tour for brunch on Sunday. It was a special get together for friends and we paid the additional £17 for the bottomless mimosa/prosecco.
Service was outstanding . The maitre d' was knowldgeable and very helpful in recommending dishes and combinations and our waitress was friendly and efficient (especially in topping up our glasses which were never left more than A few sips 'empty'!)
The food was tasty and plentiful, we all enjoyed our dishes. Overall, it was a really excellent brunch experience and we will definitely return.
always a pleasure to eat here, but I do not
agree with the service charge automatically added. I was charged another £20 for my food to
be brought to me!
My local is consistently good and staff are awesome
Really nice location and venue with a great view of Tower Bridge. Staff were all very friendly. It was very quiet but probably because we went on a Wednesday therefore not much ambience. Other than that great, and will definitely be returning on a weekend!
We really enjoyed everything, the place is beautiful, the food its incredible!
The food was very disappointing. We went for the prix fixe menu, and the chicken liver parfait to start was OK, but the portion miniscule. The main course of moules frites was dreadful - the sauce so salty it was inedible, the frites soggy, and half the moules just empty shells. The brownie dessert was OK, but no more than in inch square.
The wine was expensive and disappointing.
Service was slow- it took an hour for our main course to arrive.
All in all, very disappointing - in particular because the proper restaurant was, on previous visits, quite good.
Took the 2 courses for £15, very good value. Very tasty pate, beautifully moist chicken breast. Staff are delightful
A super and light lunch in the Bar and Grill (West end) of the restaurant. The set lunch menu is well worth a try.
Excellent restaurant, I really enjoyed it. Good food and drink and they had live music also.
Wonderful atmosphere, the pre theatre menu was a real treat with excellent service. The acoustic guitarist and singer was an added delight for a Saturday night.
Lunch on Saturday was pretty slow considering the restaurant was not very busy. Our burgers were rare considering we asked for medium. Fairly disappointed for my first visit.
Very enjoyable evening, service very attentive
Amazing ambience and great food. So romantic.
Great value pre-theatre menu in the bar. French food is one of our faves and the wine was delicious. It's definitely the sort of place where you want to treat yourself to champagne, oysters and cocktails! If we'd had more time we definitely would have had a third course but had a show to get to. Can imagine the terrace overlooking the water would be lovely in warmer weather. Overall, would recommend.
Very pleasant lunch. Very good food well presented. Service was good. Impressive location.
Nice place to sit and good waiters but the food is meh and very expensive, you'd be no worse off in the pub round the corner with a lot less damage to your bank account
