Great anniversary dinner
Asked to see the sommelier but the request was not passed on. The bread arrived 10 minutes after the starters, finger bowls then arrived after everyone had already gone to wash their hands. One of the salad starters had 4 ingredients but came out with only 3 on the plate with the 4th rushed out practically at the end of the course.
And the waiter kept spilling the wine when pouring it!
Very disappointed with the food. We ordered the pre 18:30 fixed price menu but the chicken option that we both chose was not good at all. Wasted visit to a restaurant - a MacDonalds would have been nicer.
We told the waitress to inform the chef of our disappointment but heard nothing back. The chocolate desert was OK but the wine massively overpriced. Such a shame used to be a wonderful restaurant!
Very good place
A long time diner at this restaurant, I have to say I was disappointed with my experience. The bar service was very slow, and the only thing that made our time at the bar enjoyable was when another barman came on helped us. The food was excellent as always, but the restaurant neglected to bring our side dishes until well after we had finished the main course, which of course defeats the purpose.
I will go back, as I hope this is a one time problem.
Very noisy, food are fine.
Our 5 year anniversary and our first trip to London! The setting is absolutely gorgeous!
I always love Le Pont de la Tour, the food is lovely ( if pricey), the ambiance is great -either inside or out and the view is iconic. Whenever we have visitors from outside the City we take them to this restaurant and it is a guaranteed hit. If the weather is good you couldn’t ask for a better venue to sit outside (and I have tried a whole host of them over the last 25 years!) Highly recommended
Great service, staff excellent, food good value, wine less so but overall a lovely experience.
Very nice dinner with friends
Great service and good food!
Food v good (chicken melted in mouth), sommelier lovely, waiting staff a little erratic in approach (orders not taken for a long time, and then suddenly in a slightly abrasive manner)
Had a wonderful evening ! Sat on terrace, really lovely views, good service and good food, they gave me a birthday plate which was very nice! Will go again for a special occasion.
I have not been here in a couple of years. Service has always been a bit slow but this wasnt really an issue for us as we were friends catching up and we had nowhere else to go. Food waa lovely and staff friendly. The views of the river and tower bridge is the main reason to dine here i think.
Overall very enjoyable. Some minor hiccups with a junior member of staff disagreeing over a dish she brought. Sorry to labour the point but staff shouldn't tell a customer that a dish of new potatoes are roast potatoes when they patently aren't. I don't mind a mistake, what I mind about is a waitress telling me I am wrong. Thankfully it was taken care of by the excellent maitre'd but did an a a totally unnecessary wrinkle to a lovely evening
From beginning to end we had a superb evening. Celebrating someone's birthday can be treacherous if you pick a restaurant off form. This was not the case. The welcome bright and friendly, calm as we celebrated a bit longer in the bar followed by excellent food and service. A special thanks to Alex on the wine, helpful and attentive. My thanks to an excellent establishment.
Lovely place for a meal. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. We had a lovely time.
Lovely relaxed lunch, excellent service and good quality food.
Excellent service from Fabiana
Great menu choice from set menu... will definitely return
We had dinner there on Saturday night. The food was excellent, but the restaurant was half empty and lacked ambience. While waiting for our table we were directed tot he bar. When we asked if they had non-alcoholic cocktails the bartender seemed put and tried at least 3 times to pressurise us to look at the alcoholic cocktails. Eventually he just left us to be served by another bar tender. At least the service at the table was good.
This restaurant has maintained its excellent service since I first went 25 years ago. Food never fails to impress and it served in sufficient portions, service is impeccable and the setting just tops it off. Shame it was raining but even so, a lovely place to go for a special occasion.
This place was totally overpriced with a slew of uptight, arrogant waiters and waitresses. The wine sommelier was so uninformed and his lack of wine was laughable. The prices are totally outrageous! and to top it off they add a tip to the bill...
Food was disappointing and in such small quantity !!
The restaurant is situated on the waterfront close to Tower Bridge. We had the set menu (which we had to ask for) at 6:00pm on a Saturday when the place was half empty and lacked atmosphere. The food wasn’t anything special and the wine prices aren’t cheap. The restaurant was chilly to say the least. The service was okay though and everyone was very attentive so no complaints on that front.
To summarise, been there and won’t be going back. There are no shortages of good restaurants in London and Pont de la Tour is not on the list.
It’s a bit old school really. We were there to eat pre-theatre and had the set menu so weren’t in the mood to linger. It was friendly, but perhaps a bit over the top and refined for our needs. Great table by the window to watch the Bridge go up. But take a torch into the loo so you can see whether you’re using the soap or the hand lotion.
Excellent food, lovely service! Highly recommend!!
Had the set menu which was good value. The food and presentation were excellent. It’s a shame that the wine list is so expensive compared to the value of the food, nothing under £30 a bottle.
The restaurant was very very quiet for a Saturday night, maybe because of the marathon the following day, competition from The Ivy Cafe the other side of Tower Bridge or, as a long established restaurant, has fallen out of fashion, especially with the ‘young and trendy’?
Excellent food with good service. Special extra dessert (brownie) work 'Happy anniversary' message was a nice touch.
We really enjoyed our set meal. Good quality food, service and the ambiance was very relaxing. We ordered two bottles of Chablis very good quality. We wasn’t rushed, the staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Great meal, always consistently good.
Lovely seafood in a cosy place
Def coming back
As usual never disappointed but also understanding and very generous once a regular customer.
Used to use Le Pont de la tour regularly about 10 years ago. First time back since then and it is still the same great restaurant. Whole dining experience was good. Only one slight minor detail was the waitress kept trying to pour drinks and clear bits from table whilst we were eating. Apart from that, good meal, good restaurant. Will be back sooner this time!
Went there for Mother’s Day. Great service and food. View is superb. Although we are regular D&D’s, and were amongst firsts in and we had booked in advance and the restaurant did not get full until we left, we did not have a window table but whatever, we still had a good time...
Delightful for my son’s birthday celebration. Outstanding service and truly delicious food.
As always food and service were excellent, one of our favourite restaurants!
Excellent in all departments, but ... outrageously expensive and the fixed price set menu for early pre theatre meals was only made available when I asked for it.
Don't turn your nose up at the house wines: the red is superb
Ambience was excellent for our anniversary. Nice location. Fruits de mer platter with lobster, wine, starter and desert for two was aprox 230. Service was good.
Been coming here every year for quite some time. Only seated guest in half of the restaurant so my view was of the kitchen doors swinging open and kitchen staff. Dover sole was good. Not sure why they would not seat us on the other side since we were in pathway.
