A mouse ran accross the floor. Waiter did not seem to care. Very off putting at the end of a meal.
Waiter was great, food lovely. Will definitely be making a return *
Great service and OK food. The restaurant was very quiet on a wednesday at 6.30pm so lack atmosphere.
Très bon restaurant où on se sent bien.
A fantastic setting on the river quietly tucked away and with very good tasty food, albeit on the more expensive for what it is. The wine list is limited and pricey. All in all, good and certainly if you like chicken done fabulously well this restaurant is worth trying!
Nice ambience and location, good wine and decent food. I feel it is quite Asian style rather than French in terms of main course :) but I like them
Great experience - Good homemade meal, Highly recommended for any types of dinner
excellent food and service! really nice location with amazing view on the city.
Food was okay but not to rave about. However, there was a bottle of Moulis en Medoc, and that really made the evening. This place has some nice wine, not cheap but not extortionately expensive either, I think they were correctly priced. It was a nice surprise.
Very nice restaurant with great views, friendly staff and good menu.
Food was lovely and they had nice wait staff, the restaurant was very quiet especially for a Friday night, due to this there wasn't really much atmosphere
Excellent location, nice westwards river view, idyllic sunset. Polite and fast service. Descent wine list. On the other hand limited menu options (this is not necessarily a bad thing), specialty being chicken with the "secret" sauce. Not much to say against it but lacks the extra something which will fill the restaurant. Overall recommended for a good dining experience.
It was OK. Not many people there. I believe it may have closed down now.
This was our first visit to Le Secret. It was a sunny day so we asked to sit outside and the waiter was most helpful to ensure we were given the next available table for lunch. The restaurant itself was very quiet with no one dining. We had the set Sunday lunch menu and all the food was very well cooked, presented and tasty. This restaurant is on the tow path and right next to the River so an ideal spot and view and not far from Canary Wharf. We would certainly go back as local to us and would be nice during the winter months.
One of my favourite restaurants in Canary Wharf and usually no problem getting a table. Best rotisserie chicken I've ever had and the special sauce is delicious. Friendly service and very attentive. Highly recommend, though can be a bit quiet - but I like that.
With only three staff and over 20 customers it was very unfair to run a restaurant like this . A complete rethink on organisation. It took ages to get served and boy did we wait . I had to go and find a staff members to get the order in. This should not be a MEXICAN Wrap walkin. The venue was dreadfully understaffed.
Bread was served in a used upside down military hat ! hilarious but not hygienic. The french would had been not been amused. ! A basket would be more appropriate.
The Chicken was delightful as was the starter but more options for starters and preparation of chicken and sauces .
The restaurant needs a better wine list, perhaps some music and interior drapes to make the venue more cosy or romantic and lighting. As for a restaurant , it needs air conditioning as the rotisserie made us sweat.
The bar was wonderful and well stocked with some good wine but where were the bar staff ? Boy I hated to wait or make a scene!.
The outside seating was so romantic overlooking the River Themes. Make use of the views as you be kept waiting for some time for the food.
The half chicken with special sauce is so delicious that we had it two Friday's in a row! Also excellent sides, large portions and very friendly yet professional service. The starter plates are also delicious. We always eat too much here but can't wait to return. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately, my friend's first choice for starter was not available but we were not informed ahead of looking at the menu. Last time, it was chicken that was not available. They were understaffed both on the floor and in the kitchen, so it took a while to give our order and to get the food. We can't blame the waiting staff who were doing all they could. The hickups in service and description of the menu are likely to blame on the lack of staff that night because on our previous visit, the service was excellent. In fairness, they gave us a discount although we did not ask for one nor did we complain. That's very professional. Overall very good food. The Financier (dessert) was amazing. Additionally, it is a French restaurant with staff who actually speak French. That's a big plus, especially for French speaking clients like us.
We had an appointment for 12 noon and the restaurant wait came along at 12;15 , no apology. the services was very slow only one waiter
Everything good but I was waiting for a more French restaurant.
The restaurant works on a simple principle of offering predominantly chicken dishes with a French twist. Of particular value is the set meal with half or a quarter of chicken, French fries preceded with a choice of two starters. We found the chicken well prepared with an excellently subtle use of spices and sauces. The wine list is generally in order although some of the vintages on offer were a little pricey. The service was efficient and polite.
What a lovely restaurant, everything about this place was very very good. The food, the wine, the location, the ambience and the staff we all so very good. We will be going back, I cant recommend this establishment more highly, gentlemen thank you very much.
Service was non-existent and the food was almost inedible. The chips were decent but hardly worth the price!
I would strongly recommend you staying away. Nandos is of a slightly higher quality but much cheaper and Chicken Shop puts this place to shame.
Their online menu (and your's Open Table) was not up to date.
We wnet specifically for Coq au Vin, but were told 'oh we don't do it anymore'
The food is nice, but couldn't mask the bitter taste of disappointment.
We had the full 3 courses and loved it all the pate was delicious the batter on the squid light the rotisserie chicken so succulent although I'm glad I had the special sauce on the side as I don't like tarragon. My boyfriend had cheese to finish which had a great selection with chutney and grapes I had the chocolate pudding which was worth the wait! We will definitely return hopefully when its sunny so we can have a drink on the terrace.
Ive got certain intolerances and the restaurant was not able to adjust to those at all. Would not recommend to anyone who has food allergies or sensitivities!
All of us ordered their chicken specialty so waiter proposed he cut it up on a board for sharing. Great idea! It was delicious as was the secret sauce. Dude orders are simple but also excellent. Great wine list as well. View is fantastic as well.
Lovely food and great service. The wine list is also very well selected and reasonably priced. It's the only place in Canary Wharf that offers decent French food.
Ok but nothing special. Chicken didn't taste of what I thought rotisserie chicken should do, a bit bland. Secret sauce didn't excite me. Bit pricey for what it was.
Nice service however.
Excellent, enthusiastic service only glossed over the short comings of this restaurant. The full menu I viewed when i booked the table wasn't available and instead was a tiny Valentine's day selection was available. 2 small scallops for starters and chewy, tough beef for main were big disappointment.
Valentine's set menu very disappointing there was no chicken. Scollops were lovely, but the beef was chewy the chocolate dessert was lovely
Went here on Valentine's Day where we were greeted by a bautifully designed restaurant and friendly staff who sat us down at a table with a great view of the river.
After taking a look at the set menu which was limited to two options per course we settled on scallops for starters and beef in a mushroom sauce for mains. (I've forgotten the other starter option, other mains option was seabass. You could pay extra for a vegetarian option if I remember correctly).
The food was highly dissapointing, scallops were stone cold and really lacked any texture or depth of flavour (they came in a very bland bisque). The beef was absolutely shocking, I was told it would be medium rare, I imagine their version of well-done to be brick-like, I have had better beef in Wetherspoons. The sauce was pretty standard.
Dessert (chocolate tart) was lovely, the one redeeming feature of the food served. Don't waste your time and money on this restuarant, you're paying for the view, and there are better views to be had in London.
Beautiful setting, amazing service, we could not have found a better place to savour the special delicious roast chicken that this restaurant has to offer.
We were pleasantly surprised to be given extra slices of saucisson to finish our apéritif, and the French waiters could not have been more courteous and attentive.
Unfortunately, we went just after Christmas and the restaurant was quite empty, which slightly dampened the atmosphere, but we were really made welcome.
The quiet location is certainly an asset, but it might miss passing traffic and this is a great shame.
Price a bit steep for chicken, however special it was, and we were disappointed and surprised to find that the fries were not included in the price, but we definitely recommend this gem in our favourite part of London.
For a restaurant that is based on Chicken, this was average at best. I was expecting more. Service was horrible.
Wow, this is how service should be. I had forgotten the good old days when you were warmy welcomed and were attended to with enthusiasm, so a great compliment for that.
The food is just plain good. There are too many restaurants on The Wharf who just need to pump out foot in a high pass and sometimes the quality or the quantity is just not correct for the price we are paying. Le Secret is just a 5 mins walk towards the water and if you can find your way to Zizzi, you can find your way to this restaurant only 1 min further to the right. You can still have a conversation here, have a great view, enjoy the wine and some well cooked food. The deserts are soooo good as well. I can only say, please have a look. It is a good way to get a little walking excercise and being just outside The Wharf brings you into a different world. I would definately recommend this restaurant.
Service was quite good and attentive. Shame that they ran out of 2 of the 3 main courses (only roast chicken was available) and that the food was very salty. Would not recommend
The food was nice and the waiter was attentive.
It was quiet for a Saturday but I guess Canary Wharf works to different timelines than most restaurants.
Was it twice as nice as Nandos for the price? I'm not sure.
Whatever it is they put in the secret 'Le Secret' sauce, will keep me coming back for me, every time! The chicken is always perfectly cooked, and if you're a fan of the skin too, this place is to die for!
I followed other reviewers and went for the chicken.
The menu is small but it has good stuff on there and if you can't pick anything then don't bother going out for food!
They have the same philosophy as me re children's meals and it was nice to see. I think some parents have lost the plot.
The wine list is more than ample- I selected the rose.
I did not do the set meal, but this is surely the best value do i will try this if I return.
Very good chicken and service as usual, desserts was also outstanding.
