The restaurant is a charming neighborhood place with a great selection of Lebanese dishes. The lamb and artichoke stew had a lot of meat, all tender and well cooked. The hummus sample was ample and delicious. Our waitress was friendly, pleasant, and knew the menu well. We never felt rushed.
Our dinner was a pleasant late Valentine's Day celebration. The food (several mezzas) was excellent, as usual at Taverna. The server was a bit slow initially coming to our table, but was attentive and friendly after that. The table next to us was left uncleared for the entirety of our meal, which detracted from our overall experience.
Our family selected several items from the Mezza which we ate with relish. The bread was hot and perfect for baba ghanoush, hummus and m'saka. We liked the shawarma sliders and chicken samosas grape leaves and falafel .
Made a reservation a week in advance. They still hadn't seated us 45 minutes after the reservation time. We left.
They never came to talk to us. I had to go ask for updates, and still we weren't seated.
First time diner, great neighborhood find! Very tasty hommus and shawarma. A little surprised the Mezza M'saka was served cold, not hot. But, we will go back and again! Extensive drink menu, we will be back to try drinks next time.
The Taverna was much improved over several fairly recent experiences, this despite the fact that it was jam-packed at a late diner hour. The tables are very close together and all were fully occupied making for a constant din and complicating the wait service. We started with a "chef's mezza: a fulsome platter of varied cold dishes. The visual was excellent and the food ample. Of special positive mention was the Arab bread [not pita], a puffy, chewy item that went well with the mezza. The main dishes were fairly standard kabobs with lots of rice comprising chicken, lamb and ground beef: pretty much standard Levantine fare.
We met with my step-daughter’s friends for lunch. The service was excellent; starters were a bit meager but tasty; mains very large. The restaurant was very peaceful since we had lunch on a Friday. I recommend it highly.
Food was delicious. Waitress was very helpful with the menu.
As long as you don’t get the very slow waiter food and everything else is fine
Fabulous meal. Fresh and perfectly flavored.
I always enjoy the food here. I think the hummus, baba, and tabouleh are the best around. It’s often a toss up as to whether I have a meal or just share the appetizers. The family is so friendly and very accommodating. They also frequently have the kibbeh which is also outstanding. Nice selection of draft beer and a decent wine list.
This restaurant has always been our favorite. We had the reservation for after my mother's funeral. The staff was very gracious and went beyond to accommodate my sister-in-laws child with Down Syndrome.
I only wish there was a Lebanese Taverna or Market in Fredericksburg. Thank you.
great food, comfortable setting, fine service! (and great Lebanese wine by the glass)
What more could you ask for?
One of our favorite restaurants. Top quality food and service! Menu has something for everyone.
Always enjoy this restaurant when in the area. Bonus was 1/2 price bottles of wine on Mondays!
Only spot for improvement is the service- we ordered a carafe of sangria with 3 glasses and instead got 3 individual glasses of sangria which was not cost advantageous.
Food is good
Service can be good or bad
I have been going to Westover Lebanese Taverna for over 20 years and this was my most unsatisfactory visit. The restaurant had one table occupied at 6:00, I requested a corner table by the window but was given a table at the opposite corner of the room away from the windows. I ordered a lamb entree, the lamb was completely over cooked - dry and tasteless. I tasted the lamb in my husband’s dish which was tender and flavorful, at that point the server asked how the food was and I told him. He shortly returned with some just cooked lamb which was good. Later the server asked whether we wanted desert, we both declined but he said I’d bring you some baklava, we declined again. But he insisted and we assumed it was complimentary due to the unsatisfactory entree. When we received our bill, we were charged for the desert. I was disappointed by the limited responsiveness to the customer. I had planned to have lunch there next week but will not based on my most recent experience.
If you like middle eastern food, this is a great spot to dine. The kibbeh, falafel, hummus and lamb shank were all prepared perfectly. The service was attentive and unobtrusive. The wine list was replete with approachable and delicious bakaa valley wines.
Great Service Great Food
The Lebanese Taverna always has excellent food at a good price and good service. We were a small group of friends who had not seen each other in a while so we were taking more time with ordering. The servers were very accommodating- attentive, but not rushing us.
Always to pleasure to dine at the Lebanese Taverna. The waitstaff is excellent!
I met a group of friends for lunch at Lebanese Taverna. The food was delicious and plentiful. The waitress was attentive and responsive. She took our order quickly and checked periodically to make sure we were satisfied. She also happily gave us separate checks. Furthermore, the restaurant was quiet enough that we could speak without raising our voices and still be heard. The restaurant is located in a convenient spot in Arlington. Our group will be back.
We haven’t been to Lebanese Taverna for years so we were very excited to go back. We ordered mezza plates and loved most of it.
My favorite dish is Shrimp Arak - and they did not disappoint! It was delicious, although a bit more lemon forward than the last time we were there.
We got the Hummus Trio - the spicy hummus and chicken swarma hummus were delicious, but the third had ground lamb that was too pungent for my taste.
The falafel and tahini sauce was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The watermelon with mint and feta was delicious!! Such a simple dish, but very tasty and perfect on a hot summer day.
And finally, the claim to fame of LT is their fresh baked bread and olive oil & herb dip - YUM!! So delicious. I don’t know what’s in that dip but it is the best bread & olive oil dip I’ve ever tasted - hands down!
It was very noisy. Had not been there in a number of years and was pleased with the new version except for the noise.
I think this is the original Lebanese Taverna. We first came here in 1979 when there was just one counter and a few plastic tables and chairs. It was kind of a fast food place, but the food was good and still is... not great but good. Service has always been very personal and professional. It's a restaurant that is always a pleasure to visit.
Great food super friendly staff would highly recommend!!
Absolutely, the best hummus I have ever had. The Taboulea is fresh and very flavorful as is the Baba. If you are up for Kihhba Nayeh, they do a great job. Nice wine selection. Drafts beers are a bit limited. Try to save room for dessert!!
I made reservations for mother’s day. We were not sat when we arrived. We waited 10, 20, 30 minutes without being sat. We abandoned our appointment and went next door to Lost Dog and had a wonderful meal.
Great tasting food in a friendly neighborhood setting.
Just a great stop in life with good food and great service!! The pulled lamb...yum!!
Service was not great. The waiter was slow and had some orders incorrect. Food tasted great, though!
Sanisa was our server and she was amazing. Great food as always. We had a large group and were treated with great care and attention! Love this neighborhood spot!
