Glad to have returned again after an absence of a few years. No changes - thankfully.
Very pleasant and leisurely Sunday Lunch. I am astounded that this restaurant was not full.
We had a great experience with friends at Les Associes. Very good food and service in a cosy atmosphere. Really felt like being in a warm French bubble. The chef is a great character too! Would highly recommend.
I'd forgotten just how good this restaurant is.
Really good food. Lovely wine. Good service.
we were happy to be going again and to introduce Les Associes to out friends who loved it. A great place to go if you want good food and to enjoy conversation.
Les Associes is a hidden gem - a genuine traditional French bistro with no fripperies and no trendy fuss. The menu is short and full of delicious treats, the wine list is also short but has some very nice choices. Everything is reasonably priced. The chef-patron cooks it all for you. The big plus is that it retains the ambience of a typical family-run Montmatre brasserie of the '70s or '80s before the ghastly wide boys and the chains messed everything up. The only downside is the rather unexciting vegetarian option (but of course this is just what one might expect from many a Parisian bistro!!) The second big plus is no background music so patrons can not only enjoy a good meal but also have a conversation without having to yell over the sound system.
Go and enjoy this rare gastronomic survival tucked away off the beaten track in a residential street in Crouch End. I recently had a big party here and everyone though Les Associes a restaurant to be treasured.
Fantastic food, attentive and friendly service, great atmosphere. We will be back!
Always a great occasion the food, wine and service excellent
Superb local Bistro as always and owner Marc is very accommodating and friendly so thanks for a superb tasting experience - food amazing
Loved the small restaurant feel and the food was awesome. Will definitely go again ... and again...
Cosy French restaurant very good food and relaxed atmosphere with unhurried service
I have been to Les Associes a number of times. The food is always excellent.
Delicious food, quirky ambience, strangely quiet (although it was a Tuesday night) and a typically 'French' patron - he added to the experience and we enjoyed talking to him.
Tasty food, friendly service, lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Charming, pleasing, relaxing. Good food along with a welcoming, intimate atmosphere.
Consistently great. You enter the door, and find an outstanding corner of France.
Les Associes is the best French restaurant in London
This place is a little jewel that should be more famous. It has been running for years in Crouch End, and it feels like a portal to France - the moment you get in, you breathe the typical atmosphere of an old-fashioned out-of-town Parisian bistrot. Excellent food. The manager is brilliant.
The owners are French and it is reflected in the whole ambience and unfussy style. Food is excellent. Portions are decent sized. Some dishes are very traditional referring here to Soupe de Poissons and Guinea Fowl which were Day Special.
Very good food but somewhat pricey. Very French but unfortunately (from the Restaurants point of view) coincided with the blizzard and we were the only customers who made it in; That dampened the atmosphere somewhat making a full assessment a bit difficult. I imagine its very popular in better weather; It is very small but just about manages OK.
This place is very French! The two gentlemen who run it are very knowledgeable about their food and very attentive to their patrons. They bake their own special bread which is different everyday and are kind when it comes to adapting a menu or making something special for a small child. We all ate different meals and enjoyed them immensely. The meal was topped off by an excellent and decadent French chocolate mousse. The best I have ever tasted.
Freshly prepared food cooked well. Small and cosy and no noise to distract the conversation. Perfect for an evening with friends.
A unique place in North London. Good food. Good wine. Friendly service. It is a little eccentric, you are in a decent sized space, but still someone's front room. But well worth a visit.
Booked for lunch via OpenTable, excited to finally be eating here. Arrived on time, only to have the owner say he was closing and didn’t know about my booking because he ‘doesn’t have internet’. Please consider people who plan ahead via the internet, or take phone bookings only. Cost me transport and rearranging Sunday lunch.
Lovely restaurant, relaxed informal atmosphere and great french food done well (somptuous mousse au chocolat). It was the second time we went and we will be back.
A taste of France
This restaurant is a local treasure. Well worth a frequent visit(there is a low cost set menu), but especially good for an intimate occasion or a celebration. You can actually talk to each other as there is no loud music! The atmosphere is so authentically French that you think you have crossed the channel not just the Park Road.
Food is outstanding: sourced, prepared and served by our surly gallic host. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the (home-made) bread was very salty.
We have been to Les Associes over many years, and it was a pleasure to go again. The food and wine were very good, and the service excellent. I hope it continues to flourish.
Great food, friendly service and a very pleasant evening. Already looking forward to going back for another visit.
As always the food was great. The staff excellent and the restaurant cozy and relaxed. Had a wonderful evening.
If you enjoy good food good wine then this is the restaurant for you
I really rate this simple but very good restaurant
Good quality food and great wines in a picturesque environment. Awesome service. Walk through the door and you're basically in France. Highly recommended.
Les Associes is a special place. Excellent food and drink in a totally authentic setting, just like stepping into a corner of France. It is a bit expensive, especially if you go a la carte, but the prices are not unreasonable for cuisine of this standard.
One criticism is that dinners were served with 3 chip and a small piece of vegetable -why?
Even we asked for more there was only a token response.
The fish was served with too much butter (swimming in butter).
Steak was great and starters too.
Some of the finest French food I have had. The owner and chef makes customers feel special and has a real passion for his food, wine and cooking. If the veal onglet is still on the menu, it may be the best veal you will ever taste.
Fine ingredients perfectly cooked for people who appreciate good food.
We absolutely love this restaurant, the ambience is fabulous as is the service and food. It is just so relaxing sitting in there. It did seem a little more expensive this time though but we still had a wonderful time yet again.
Nice relaxed Sunday lunch experience. The tables were nicely set with clean linen and it had a comfortable French shabby chic ambience. Food very tasty and reasonable choice for a set menu. Everything fresh, there was plenty bread and generous butter portions provided. The only disappointing aspect was the rather luke warm coffee. This is an unpretentious, satisfying restaurant.
Authentic french experience, exceptional food.
Probably my favourite local restaurant.
NOT part of any "chain".
It is about 6 months since I last visited, and the owner remembered I was on a "salt free" diet.
You cannot "buy" that sort of service!!!!
The portions are getting smaller and the house wine now comes out of a wine box. This is not the way to attract business!!
