Very slow service, waited for one hour to get our food. Salad as a main course was a small portion certainly not enough as a main course.
So disappointed by this dining experience. Not a restaurant I will be back to and certainly won’t recommend to anyone. I ordered the pasta dish, rigatoni with pumpkin, spinach and Gorgonzola, after my first choice wasn’t available. Honestly could have done 100 times better myself. It sounded like a lovely pasta dish but was terrible. Oven baked rigatoni was hard and crusty on top and overcooked underneath, hardly any of the other ingredients. I can’t disparage this dish enough. Burgers were dry with no attempt to make them restaurant quality. The only savior was the steak my friend ordered which thankfully was good as it was her birthday. Service was ok, but server inexperienced, overall quite casual. Consolation was not being charged for the pasta.
Always great welcome, delicious food and staff are pleased to see us!
Party of 6 for dinner. Disappointed with the experience. Food was late 1 hour, clients that came and sat down after us received their food before we did. My vegetarian burger was cold & my dad’s pork chop was dry. Service was not great either. We had to ask the waiter where the food was. The waiter/manager didn’t bother to offer some olives or bread and olive oil to get us going while we were waiting for the food. They offered a discount on the total bill however the overall experience was not great and we will certainly not return.
Good food, excellent service and warm ambience. Good location.
Always delivers the same high standard. Delicious food. Friendly and courteous service. The best local restaurant in Wimbledon Village.?
A lovely restaurant tucked away from the bustle of the high street. We chose the extraordinarily good value set lunch menu and all felt that the food was excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. A very relaxed atmosphere. We were able to park outside which was a bonus. Highly recommended.
Simple relaxed good food good staff vary pleasant not to be frenetic!
Cosy restaurant and really nice food. We sat at the back extended area which felt a little cramped- only other choice of table available when we arrived
was right next to the kitchen door. Waitress was efficient but could have smiled a bit more! Overall we enjoyed it.
Excellent menu with a wide range of choices for all types of dietary requirements. Food prepared to a very high standard and all courses were tasty and mouth watering. Service is great with the staff being on the ball and efficiently ensuring you have what you need but not over the top.
I have eaten here a few times and it never disappoints.
Great value for money
Perfect venue for a light lunch with a friend . Pleasant atmosphere, not too noisy and perfectly cooked poached eggs.
Great service, great food and great atmosphere would 100% go again
The server was fantastic.
However my food was actually cold.
I had been recommended by a local Buisness woman .
I have a services Buisness so used to eating after the customers.
The waitress was amazing the kitchen SLOPPY .
Lovely evening with fabulous food. All 6 of us really enjoyed our 3 courses especially the Cod & the Braised Beef mains.
Lovely food. Good service
Enjoyed a pleasant evening with my wife, good food, will certainly be coming back again.
Lovely risotto topped off by a hot chocolate for dessert. Large portion size. The halloumi brunch went down well too.
Great place for lunch
I've been here quite a few times now and always really enjoy it. The food is great and there is a good choice available. Service is very attentive, without being over the top and there is a lovely atmosphere, especially when the fire is lit. Highly recommended!
The food was ok, some dishes better than others but not special.
The staff had terrible tone and barely seemed to be inclined to provide service.
My smoothie was served to me dripping, I had clean the glass and the table myself due to the spillage. No apology or tissue offered
Excellent fresh food and services as ever with a great atmosphere!!
Restaurant was extremely busy with people eating brunch as well as diners like us coming for an early lunch. Service was therefore a bit slow although friendly. Food ok but not outstanding. Slightly disconcerted to see cooked pasta and ? rice sitting outside back of kitchen in the open air.
Service slow & conservatory cold. Bought out the wrong drinks. Food okay but not as good as the last time I visited a year ago.
Just superb - every-time! The only issue I had with the visit is that it was my husband’s birthday and I had asked them during my booking to make some arrangements a little candle perhaps. This didn’t happen unfortunately.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food & friendly staff.
Very quiet evening but staff warm and friendly.
Good menu and an enjoyable evening.
Love Light on the Common
Tasteful independent brasserie, close to Wimbledon Common
Great Food and ambiance
Ordered nectarine and goats cheese salad 5-minutes later waitress came back said no nectarines!! why hadn't kitchen informed staff to take it off the menu. Staff should how to inform in a better way maybe 'that nectarines were found to be too hard and didn't want to serve them' or why hasn't someone gone out to buy some ripe nectarines? salmon dish that very salty soya and the tender ?? stemmed broccoli very hard and an edible only the heads could be eaten, the desert was fine.
The food was expensive and portions small for the money. The Sunday menu should offer the same choice as the weekday a la carte menu.
The restaurant was fairly noisy. This is to be expected on Sunday lunchtime when the restaurant is full but my experience was spoiled by some badly-behaved children next to me (little girl rolling on the floor next to my table). This is really the parents' fault.
A very pleasing restaurant, good food, good value, good service.A local favourite. My last visit unusually a bit disappointing. Risotto not good but at the time I didn't realise why. Busy talking with friend, whose birthday it was. Dawned on me later - it was the wrong rice. Not arborio so lacked flavour and texture because not cooked as risotto should be. Will drop in and let them know. I will still go back!
Great place, lovely food and staff - very accommodating and I will go back... One thing: I ordered a flat white with pat milk but pretty sure it came as dairy, by the time I realised I decided not to cause a fuss. Maybe the waitress misheard but it was a bit disappointing!
Booked to go here after Wimbledon tour, good 20 mins walk. Very friendly and warm staff and atmosphere, good location to common food was very nice priced well. Very nice lunch, ate too much, worth a visit, was quiet when we went bet even warmer Atmos at busy evening
Always a joy to eat there. Friendly efficient and relaxed. I'ld like to see the menu changed a bit more, but the food is very tasty and has wide variety.
Thanks to you all
The burger wasn’t very good but chips were tasty. The menu is varied and there is something to suit most tastes.
Nice relaxed ambiance and great location near the Common.
Good venue, misunderstood that is dog friendly, outside only unfortunately. Good food, lovely area next to common otherwise. Recommended
We had a lovely welcome, which we have now come to expect. The menu provides the discerning diner with an abundance of choice to cover every taste and our meals and drinks were served with the efficiency and humour which enhance any occasion.
Took the weekend special deal; a bit disconcerting to be told:’ you can see the menu when you arrive’ but choice turned out to be fine. Very good alternative to cooking Ona Saturday evening with the prospect of hosting a large group for lunc( on the following day.
The service is incredibly friendly and efficient. We sat by the window on a lovely sunny evening. Choosing from the week set menu the food was delicious, well presented and incredibly good value. The food was far better than The Ivy cafe which we visited last time. Would certainly recommend to others.
It was very noisy. The service was very slow - appeared to be understaffed. The menu wasn’t particularly exciting. With such a number of eating places around it we felt the Michelin recommendation gave us false expectations.
Friendly staff, casual atmosphere. Food was good and it suited us as a family very well. Slightly noisy, but think that was more the fault of the loud man on the next table!!
