Booked a table for lunch but arrived a little early which was no problem at all. We were shown to our reserved table where we ordered a lovely cooked full English breakfast. The Service was good and the breakfast was delicious! The coffee was lovely, it hit the spot on such a cold morning. We weren't rushed although the restaurant was busy. I can't fault the restaurant, the food, or the service. It was perfect.

In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistro
after being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisine
during his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.
His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.
For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,
arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.

47 years later and now being operated by Michael's son Abe,
IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliers
and produce, fresh ingredients and the best available dry
aged British beef. The restaurant is situated in an 18th century
fisherman’s cottage which we find rather fitting after Michael
spent years in Portofino, Livorno and Saint-Tropez, Europe’s
most famous fishing villages.

Since reopening from covid we ask for a £10 per person deposit in our busier times which gets deducted from your bill at the end of your meal.

We have eaten here before and once again Il Bistro didn’t fail to meet all expectations. The atmosphere is great, the food is brilliant and Abe and his team are so welcoming and pleasant you couldn’t ask for more. Definitely will be visiting again next time we are in Brighton.

Very happy with our stay and dinner. If we didn't know any different we would have thought it was Michelin starred it was that good. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Great Afternoon Tea experience. The only things that were disappointing were the slightly soggy Salmon and cucumber sandwiches and the champagne not tasting great but the rest of the afternoon items were excellent. The service was great with very friendly and attentive staff members that made the experience that much more enjoyable. Recommended.
