Menu is similar to tapas so the intention is to share dishes. Up to a point that works fairly well though some dishes are quite small and one doesn’t know which until they arrive. Each dish is well created, but given that you choose one or more from each part of the menu, there isn’t a large choice. Most of the dishes are quite creative and therefore take time to produce, adding to the cost and impacting on “value for money”. In contrast, I had the pavlova which was huge! The meringue was rather chewy and mint was a bit overwhelming. The staff were very friendly and helpful and food was delivered promptly. A bit on the noisy side if there happens to be a large party, otherwise a very pleasant venue

We went for the lunch specials. Lovely broccoli soup, goats cheese tart, then coley for both of us. My good school friend is allergic, so polenta was effortlessly swapped for roast potatoes. Great service, very good Viognier, and rice pudding and almond tart to finish. Very good.

We visited for lunch today as a party of 6. 4 adults and two young babies. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and kind to us. My daughter has allergies and one of the lovely ladies helped us and also explained whilst there was no children’s menu, we could pretty much adapt whatever we liked from the adults menu. Lovely meal in a welcoming environment. It isn’t always easy to find such a place so great with families with babies, thanks again. We will be back :)

It was our first time here, food and drinks were good overall. However, since everything on the menu sounds so exciting, we will appreciate more if we were given more time to look through the menu instead of being rushed to order. It felt like the staff who served us was rather pushy and impatient -- she came and asked twice if we were ready to order, we said we needed more time to think, so we suggested if we can order the starter first while we decide on the main, she said nope and just left abruptly. Understood that the restaurant was busy on a Saturday night, I guess if the staff wants to make sure we order as quickly as possible, she could also help by giving a bit more information about certain dishes instead of just saying "there are two different dishes".

The Blackbird Bar and Restaurant, at 37-39 Leven Street in the Bruntsfield area of south-west Edinburgh, serves modern Scottish cuisine. It is located close to The Meadows public park, less than 10 minutes by car or taxi from Waverley and Haymarket Railway Stations; Edinburgh Castle and the city centre are around 20 minutes' walk away. Located in an eclectic basement on the High Street, this resto offers a lot to like. On the day of our visit the food was great. My wife had salmon and I had sea bass, both cooked to perfection. There were some mixups and timing problems with our service but the manager was very attentive, noticed the problem and made things right. Well done. My wife really liked the atmosphere at Monteith's, finding it cozy and intimate. On the other find I found it a bid too compact. Two sides of the same coin. If only for the service and the very attentive manager, I'd be happy to go back for another meal at Monteith's.

At Tantra we want to change peoples perceptions of Indian cuisine. Our food will provide a multi-sensory experience involving appearance, texture, flavours, aroma all of equal importance.

We aim to take traditional Indian cuisine into another dimension - by taking inspirations from from renowned international cuisines and using modern techniques such as molecular gastronomy and deconstruction of dishes. We ensure that the soul of the food is Indian in flavour - but the execution and presentation will be mystical and magical in every aspect, just like the name "Tantra".
