We have been regulars at Nostrana for two decades because they always have great food, desserts, cocktails and an excellent wine menu with excellent service-Nostrana was our choice for our last Italian meal before going to Italy for a month (eating & drinking from Florence to Palermo) and the first Italian food we have gone out for since our return ••and everyone understands English so I don’t have to butcher Italian when asking about an item •but SE PDX doesn’t have quite the vibe of Sorrento or Cefalu😁Always great food 👍🏻

Incredible service and exceptional food. We had an early reservation and walked into a nearly empty restaurant which initially had me concerned, but it was a Sunday and early and by the time we finished our meal, nearly every table was full. We started with the tomato salad, pickled vegetables, and the trout pate. it was a journey of flavors. Every single bite was absolutely mind blowing. We also had the pappardelle pasta and the daily fish special (snapper) - we were so impressed by the quality of the food, the presentation, and overall experience. Would highly recommend The Market Place and can’t wait to return.

I was really looking forward to dining at Modern Love Brooklyn. The reviews were very positive. I can't rave about the food. It was fine; but not outstanding. We had Brussels Aioli for a starter and buffalo wings from cauliflower. That was okay. The mushroom fried chick'n dish was really good. The buffalo Mac and chews was so-so. I had read reviews about the macaroni but I did not share that information with my dinner companion. Sure enough, the macaroni was watery and tasteless. Parking was not a problem. We found street parking almost in front of the door. What was off-putting to me is that the dress code was business smart. I was flying in for an event, so went to the trouble to dress to their code. When I got there, the staff were dressed very, very casually and some of the diners came in regular shorts and sneakers. Other diners read the dress code as I did and dressed accordingly. So you can ignore the dress code. I wish I had known. I got reservations, but did not seem to need this. I visited on a Wednesday afternoon. I would go back if I were in the area but I would not make a special trip.

Wow--I was really impressed with Square 1682. I've stayed in the hotel, the Kimpton Palomar, multiple times, but I haven't ever eaten at the restaurant. Now that there's a fee for a room, but which comes with a $20 credit for the restaurant, I tried it for breakfast, and I have to say, it was one of the best restaurant breakfasts I've had in a long time--particularly the hash browns, which I often don't like at places. The service was fantastic as well, from the host who was about the nicest person ever to the wonderful server. I would go back, even without the hotel credit!

Gertrude’s is one of my “go to” restaurants -everything is fresh and as locally sourced where possible. The menu is snap and seasonal but you can modify and assemble proteins. Their fried tofu is outrageous, and I’m no vegetarian. Cocktails are fresh and innovative (and strong). The waitstaff is what makes this place a favorite -they are accommodating and friendly and prepared with suggestions I almost hate to give it such a good review, it’s kind of a low key secret place for great food.
