The food was great! However, even though the restaurant was not crowded, I felt rushed my the wait staff. The food did makeup for that and I will return.

An understated storefront hides a coveted skyline view—just one of the many ways you could underestimate this longtime cafe on Mount Baker’s main drag. The menu, the sign—even the name—are a bit of a throwback, but current owners Guy Devillier and David Hoefer took over in 2018 and keep things attuned to today. Carbonara packs more nuance than you might expect, the slightly crackly pizza’s better than it has to be, and the bar pours lambrusco and negroni. No wonder tables are loaded with a diversity of diners.

Our dining experience at Terra Plata began the day before we even arrived. When our group expanded from 10 to 12 and then to 14, the staff handled the changes with ease. From the time we sat down to the time we left, the staff was attentive but not intrusive. Because of our large group size we ate from a chef-selected menu served family-style. The dishes covered a wide array of dietary preferences with many choices for the vegetarian, gluten-free, and the meat-eaters in our group. My favorite dishes were the risotto, the roast pig, the Brussels sprouts, and the potato chips but others in our group raved about the mussels and the carrots. We sat on the roof on a chilly, but not cold, evening and were comfortable. Thanks to Terra Plata for a memorable evening!

This is a great restaurant for a romantic dinner. Quiet ambiance (though busy), excellent food and reasonable prices. Gave a 4 star for service though it looked to us they may have been short staffed. Our waiter was very attentive but had to cover a lot of other tables.

Superb meal. The meatballs will change your life. Wonderful handmade pasta. Inventive, amaro-forward drinks. A happy hour that is very much worth it. This restaurant is an absolute gem, full stop. Do not under any circumstances miss an opportunity to go here.

The staff here is totally outstanding and caring... really wonderful. The food is always delicious. I always appreciate being able to make a reservation using Open Table. I would eat here every meal every day IF I could !!! But, I live 25 miles away and so I meet a special friend here for a special treat. Thank you for providing such a comforting and welcoming dining venue for two long time friends to gather and catch up while dining on delicious and well prepared food. We will return !!!

We dined outside on a hot evening and it was still hot (could have used a fan), but lovely. A group was dining at an adjacent table and their voices were very loud. Hard to hold a conversation with that going on. Food was incredible! Had three pasta dishes and they were amazing. Wine is overpriced by quite a bit. A wine that sells for $14 in the grocery was $80 at MKT. Overall, we enjoyed the evening.
