Four of us for a meal before a gig in Custom House Square. Arrived early and we were seated right away. Restaurant quickly busy but the service was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Drinks quickly sorted and food order patiently taken (couldn't make up it minds on the tapas!). Mix of mains (steaks) and tapas all arrived quickly and together, as requested. Steaks perfectly cooked. Great range of tapas - highly recommend the pork belly and the calamari. The new padron peppers are a great addition. I've been here quite a few times with a range of family and friends and no one has ever been disappointed.

About the restaurant
Long thought to be the building where our entries namesake was held as a prisoner before being hung in Cornmaket, The Jailhouse as it is now known has been frozen in time for the last 70 years nearly forgotten about completely. Restored as part of the Joys Entry project, the aim was to keep as much of the original character of the building as possible. Brick walls, inscribed beams and original windows, take a closer look and see what history and tales you can find while you sip on tipples and nibble on rations. Time Served Well.

Despite what others have said the staff were very very friendly and helpful. We were taken to our table straight away and another group just sat down and they brought out water for the dog. The food was good the buffalo wings very spicy. Although they sound weird lasagne bites are really nice. I wpuld recommend the frozen cocktails.

About the restaurant
The clue is in the name....and for the juiciest, most flavorsome steaks around, no matter how you take it, it's hard to beat a Josper-cooked steak! The secret is our Josper grill, a very particular style of Spanish charcoal oven, which is regarded by chefs worldwide as the finest method of cooking super tender steaks, while locking in all those wonderful flavors. So whether it's Sirloin or Rib Eye you prefer, the unique smoky, barbecue-style taste of our locally sourced, prime aged steaks is, we believe, out of this world! If, however, steaks are not your thing, then fear not, as we also offer a wide-ranging & amp; varied menu and quick & easy Light Lunch menu.

As a group of retirees, we come to Jospers for the good food including lunchtime specials and attentive staff. Our numbers can be up to 14 and Jospers can accommodate large groups. At our last lunch we all agreed that we’ve never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.
