About the restaurant
This restaurant at the base of the State Library of Victoria welcomed the crowds after the gay marriage vote was announced on the steps of the library in 2017, and attracts a range of creative types. It was recently decorated in rainbow colours for IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia). Styled by renowned artist and designer Christo Gillard, the Little Lonsdale St noshery is an intimate venue with 19th century bluestone walls and a homely courtyard. Its menu includes chicken and feta meatballs with slaw, vegetable Thai Panang curry with coconut rice and peanut sambal, confit duck with chard, sweet potato mash and a blood orange spiced jus plus a 12-hour slow-cooked lamb shoulder.

Moat is always amazing. We live locally and Moat is still our date night venue. We love it every time and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Everyone we have taken there has loved it and we are looking forward to our next visit.
