About the restaurant
Born from the colourful, eclectic and vivid origins of South East Asian cuisine, Salted Egg is an oasis of originality in a sea of conformity. A place where knowledge and authenticity have a seat at the table. If you have a taste for discovery, Salted Egg will stimulate and surprise all the senses. With a menu dominated by traditional Thai cuisine, it is a dining experience that will transport you to another world. A place where ideas are hatched, over a glass of wine or a cocktail or two. A destination for those who walk to the beat of their own drum. Those with a curious appetite and an insatiable desire for a culinary adventure.

About the restaurant
Paying tribute to its lively past, Alexander Bar is named after the original owner of the hotel first built on the site in the 1880s. This was reincarnated in 1926 as The Hotel Alexander. Alexander Bar is now the elegant ground floor attraction at The Savoy Hotel Little Collins, infused with a rich history. Famous guests could once be found here during the jazz era and beyond, sipping on cocktails while listening to the easy sounds of crooners sharing the scene.

The space has recently been refurbished in a contemporary Art Deco design, honouring its origins. The bar, encased in marble, showcases bold geometric patterned carpets, linear angled pillars, full-length mirrors, and classic tray ceilings, complemented by soft lighting.

About the restaurant
Mr Tompkins is a classic European-style restaurant with a modern twist using Native Australian Bushfoods. Our head chef Eric Kwek, previously from CODA, has carefully curated the menu with quality local produce.

Our paperbark Roasted Murray cod is our signature dish.
Paperbark is traditionally used by indigenous cultures as bedding and to wrap proteins in before tossing them into the fire and we have adopted this method to cook our Murray Cod. To impart the very unique smoky flavor we light the bark on fire to release the aromatic smell in the smoke.

Mr Tompkins is located at 318 Flinders Street Melbourne, opposite the iconic Flinders Street Station in the Melbourne CBD and a short stroll to famous landmarks like Federation Square, MCG, and the Rod Laver Arena.

Our intimate and moody underground space enables our guests to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but still watch the comings and goings on Flinders Street above through our NYC-style windows.
