100 Best Neighborhood Gems in America for 2021

To help people avoid the kitchen and find that next spot to celebrate at, OpenTable analyzed its internal data generated solely from diner reviews collected between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021. All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the sum of tags for which “neighborhood gems” and “outdoor dining” was selected as a special feature.

While our waiter was attentive while he was at our table, the rest of the time we couldn’t find him. Messed up our drink order and our food order. Did bring treats for the dog so that was nice.

Everything we had was amazing and gluten free. We had an appetizer, two cocktails, two entrees, and a dessert for $99… after tax. Insane. Will be going back!!!

Our first time at this local restaurant and yes we will return! Great service from Nikki and the service team from start to finish. The complimentary focaccia and olive oil/garlic dip were a great start. We enjoyed all of our food - meatballs with marinara, Baby Gem Caesar, vodka rigatoni, and Chicken Marsala.

Really great food and beautiful "converted" house with ambiance, though a bit cold, probably 'cuz we were seated near a window that was drafty. The service was OK at the beginning but slacked off by the time we ate our main entree. It was a bit of a wait for the server to clear the table and provide us the dessert menu. Other than that, we really loved the asparagus soup, my duck confit was moist and delicious, and the desserts were of course delightful!

We hadn’t been here in about 6 or so years, but we had a really nice brunch today. Service was great, food and drinks also great. The mini cornbread and butter they start you with is delicious. I could have had just that and been happy. My cocktail “table for two” was refreshing. The duck hash and Korean chicken sandwich were both really good. Just some little things to note: The majority of the people dining were tourists. I don’t know if it was because today was a holiday or what, but I feel like it didn’t used to be like that. The fried green tomatoes (years ago, I guess) used to have crab on top rather than shrimp. The crab was better. But it was still good. The tables were a bit crowded.

We had a nice family bday dinner. Great deal on happy hour oysters, good drinks and wine. Served was helpful with gluten sensitivity. I just wish the entrees had sides or they offered more veggie options. Don’t miss the coconut pie. Overall a great neighborhood joint.

GO! After reading all of the excellent reviews, my initial thought was, "Couldn't be THAT good." IT'S BETTER! Convivial atmosphere, comfortable seating, delightful team, and excellent food, exquisitely prepared. For the quality and service, the prices are MOST reasonable! Wow! WHAT a find! Truly, this is one of the best dining experiences we've had in a very long time. Casual, friendly, but top-notch in every category. As you can tell from the number of my reviews, we dine out often, and we search for the best restaurants (in every category). FAR from pretentious, but certainly professional and warm, Casa Nostra in Westlake Village is ONE OF THE BEST! Out of HUNDREDS of Open Table experiences. We can hardly wait to return!

Started with a white sangria ( loved it) would recommend and would get it again! We started with the yummy bread and olive oil and ordered the Daniellas salad and the special which was the squash blossoms. Salad was excellent but we did not love the blossoms- very bland and they put it over the sauce which made it mushy and not crispy.We also felt that the ricotta was not as creamy as places weed had blossoms from before. I have gotten take out from here before and I know I loved their pastas so that was no surprise. I got the Penne ala vodka and my fiancé got the bolognese which were both excellent. We also got their tiramisu and it was very good- some areas had more coffee flavor than others :D I also got the cappuccino which I was not a huge fan of- a little too milky for me! Our server was excellent and read our note about it being our anniversary and made sure our dessert was prepared very nice with a candle which I think should be applauded because many times I will add that it is a special occasion and its never relayed to the server!

Insalata is a gem! We had a fabulous birthday luncheon (2 persons). Kicked off with Mezze Plate (Hummus, Pita, falafel), Squid Ink Pasta, and Mussels (no room for desert)! Every dish was delicious and beautifully plated. Olivia, our server and other staff members were attentive and friendly. We will be back!

Second time dining here. I love the atmosphere a lot. It’s in such an unassuming place outside, with that odd plexiglass cube entrance, but once inside it’s just lovely. Their gluten free pasta option is one thing: Spaghetti. But am so thankful they offer one at all, as otherwise my wife wouldn’t be able to dine here. She said it was very good, and The spicy version she ordered was REALLY spicy. Usually when a restaurant says spicy it’s mid. But this was fire. Wish my rigatoni had some of that kick! Great wait staff. Greet old fashioned and wine. As many people commented it can be fairly loud and tight quarters, but definitely not to an unacceptable level and I’ll definitely return.

Always great! The food and drinks were excellent - big fan of their spirit-free drinks. We have dined at Maya del Sol several times and we are never disappointed. The whole place has a nice vibe - the large bar area is boisterous and the dining room is busy but cozy. It strikes a nice balance between city and suburbs nestled in downtown Oak Park. Perfect for date night or dinner with family or friends. The food is delicious. We always start with the nachos, which have a tangy mango braised beef. Everything on the menu is good, from the enchiladas to the tamales, to the burger and the salads. The drinks are good, and the service is excellent. You really can’t go wrong with this place!
