About

Located in the very centre of Manchester’s Chinatown is Little Yang Sing, considered by many to be the best traditional Chinese restaurant in the city. With its refined atmosphere and attentive service, Little Yang Sing does excellent business during the day as a place to meet and entertain while during the evening it becomes equally popular with the pre-bar crowd, romancing couples and those simply looking for good food in pleasant surroundings. Decorated in a classical Cantonese restaurant style, with dark wood furniture, plenty of deep red and Chinese art on the walls, Little Yang Sing is clean, comfortable and up to date without pretensions. The menu produced by the skilled kitchen team is equally free of frills, concentrating on Cantonese favourites, numerous Chef’s Specials and a very good collection of Pan Asian dishes too. Banquet menus are an affordable choice, especially for those too spoilt for choice by the extensive Little Yang Sing a la carte.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is clean and appealing. The food is consistently of high quality. It is my choice of venue for most occasions. The service was attentive and most friendly

In this usually excellent establishment we recently had pretty awful service, real shame as this isn't usual.

Very disappointed. No warm welcome on arrival Weren't asked if we wanted a drink on being seated. Over 15 minutes before server came back to us. There was over a 10 minute gap between the arrival of my wifes and my starter. The place wasn't busy at all. Mood of serving staff seemed very low. We saw a lady and her young daughter leave because they had not been seen to. Food was good when it did arrive but mood of place and poor service had put us off. May be a one off as other reviews seem good, but its a shame it was on my visit.

We always go to Little Yang Sing on New Year's Eve, before heading off to the theatre. We have done this for years and have always had a fabulous meal. So good, that I want to eat it again after I'd finished! However, this time (2015) the food was disappointing, very disappointing. Normally the food is served onto candle-powdered heaters, but not this time which meant the food was cold half way through. The portions were massive and not very hot to start with. I had sweet and sour fish which I always chose. Normally it's beautifully soft fish with amazing light batter. But this time the fish was hard and chewy and really quite unpleasant. We only had a certain amount of time in the restaurant so to complain and ask for another meal would have made us late and I didn't want to ruin the evening. It was a real shame because I think it might put us off booking there again.....

As usual the food was excellent. Fresh and tasty all served in a lively atmosphere. Efficient service and good quality produce. No thick, gloopy sauces. The quality of the food remains constant. No frills but always my first choice for Chinese in Manchester.

The little yang sing was the original restaurant of the yang sing chain with around ten tables it was always difficult to get a table obviously it has expanded but has lost a little of the original cosy atmosphere. Food however is still very good.

The food was amazing at the Little Yang Sing and I feel had I been in attendance on a different night the atmosphere would have been totally different. Unfortunately whilst enjoying our meal at 9.30 we were surrounded by what only can be described as a crèche of screaming children. The family in front had booked 4 tables with 2 tables dedicated to the under 8s. The family's lack of interest in the activities of their brood really affected our ability to enjoy our meal and the management should really consider this when taking such a large and disruptive booking on a Friday night.

Well attended, great good, and always a smile. Not as 'Little' as you'd expect, and the same high quality you'd expect from the Yang Sing team.

Nice ambience but never quite understand why the pack everyone into the back of the restaurant! As with many Chinese it is really better to go in numbers so that you get a wider selection of tastes however the portions are large and the food is good - service is also very attentive

Four of us enjoyed delicious food and great service. Excellent duck and pancakes followed by really tasty crispy beef. Two courses each proved hugely filling. Although I had standard Chinese restaurant food, there were a lot of more interesting dishes on offer including an extensive range of dim sum.

Quite simply the cantonese food in here is superb. Lots of chinese people eating which is also a good sign. Waitress bent over backwards to help us order the right foods for the children.

I live in Newcastle and was spending time in Manchester with friends around Valentines Day.
Saw that this restaurant did a 'Valentine's Banquet' including lobster and booked a table for two.
Total cost of the meal was £110 for two including 3 drinks each (Chinese beer, Vodka and coke)
10% Service Charge was automatically added to the bill.
First course was acceptable, second course of crispy duck just OK but things really went down hill with the lobster (which I had paid a premium of £9 per person for, over and above the £29.95 set menu cost per person).
The lobster was NUKED - really overcooked. Next course (main) not much better and we left most of it and left before sweet.
Didn't complain because was trying to keep a 'Romantic' tone!

The Little Yang Sing was a good choice for our business meeting. The choice of food for the banquet was varied. The chilli beef and monk fish in black bean was particularly good.

This is an old-faithful in Manchester's chinatown. Having moved away I returned after many years (13) for a meal on my birthday this weekend. Food and service is still excellent. I did order a Mojito (which was on the menu) and had to send it back for more ice - it was pure alcohol and I don't think they had made one in a while! The food, including the duck which was shredded at the table was excellent as ever. I had mentioned it was my birthday when booking and when we were seated we found balloons and a Happy birthday message - which I thought a lovely touch... as was the complementary cinnamon iced-cream. Would definitely call again when in Manchester.

Booked the Little Yang Sing in Manchester for a team session, in line with a workshop. Excellent service and the food was plentiful, in fact too much - which was a shame about the waste. Surprised, as they guys can usually put away quite a lot. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Been here a few times. This is one of my favourite chinese restaurants in Manchester. Right on the edge of china town, the location is great. Inside is clean and the staff are friendly.
