Steakhouse | Bank, City of London

Great space, very interesting to sit at the bar and watch the chefs work. Starters were varied and interesting, the soft shell crab tacos and goat tacos were a definate highlight. We both ordered T-bone steak (1 medium and 1 well done) and both found it slightly rubbery to eat... Fries were well executed, salad was tasty, shame about the main event.... rubbery steaks in a steak house is a shame.. Would go back for starters and beer snacks, maybe not for steaks which is a shame. More

Great first experience at Uoichi and it didn’t disappoint at all. Friends were raving about this place and now I understand why. The food is authentic and top quality as well as great value for money. It’s a no frills sort of environment which focuses of good food and friendly service. Having lived in Japan for three years, this certainly made me think back to some of my favourite izakaya spots in Tokyo. I would definitely go back! More

I highly reommend this restuarant. It's a gem. I feel lucky to have stumbled upon it. We will definitely be going back. Its very small dining area gives it a wonderful, cosy, inviting feel. Matt who owns and runs it couldn't have been more warm and welcoming. He also went out of his way getting in touch, as soon as i'd made an online reservation, to ask if I'd like him to order a sulphite free wine due to a sulphite allergy. And with no obligation to drink it on the night. We did drink it... half as experiment half as a way to relax and enjoy the evening. We didn't polish the bottle off and as such weren't charged full price. Tell me which restaurant does this? Amazing! The food was utterly delicious. The BEST beef i've had in ages. My only VERY minor critiscism and it wasn't an issue at all, was there could have been more veg rather than three blobs of veg puree. The generous helpings of bread were also seriously good as were the madelines Matt and his chef produced right at the end as an extra offering to mark our celebration. We look forward to returning very soon and next time not mid week! More

Italian | Putney, South West London

For more than 10 years, locals have found Mascalzone to be the best Italian restaurant in Putney. Discover London

If dining in the U.K. still evokes lackluster fish and chips or sorry boiled vegetables, it’s time for a trip. Call it the renaissance of British cuisine—from revived and updated bangers and mash to regional authentic Chinese, London has rewritten its own culinary story and now proudly bears the qualities of a veritable food destination. With a population of nearly 8.8 million people and one of the most popular airports in the world, the city is a bastion of cultural and culinary diversity, from an old world Parsi café and forage-forward tasting menus, to rethought English breakfasts and markets of all types. We’ll cheers to that.
