About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Opened by Keith McNally in 1989, Lucky Strike is a casual downtown classic. Great service, but the food was uninspired..competent, but nothing a basic kitchen in nyc couldn’t do.

Waiter not great, food not great. Last minute idea on a Saturday night with out of town friends that just fell flat.

Had to wait an hour for our 9pm reservation because they were “backed up” and then watched as people who arrived after us were seated before us. Frustrating. Then waited forgot things we ordered. Luckily food and wine were excellent

My go-to for French bistro classics — moules frites, steak au poivre, soupe à l'oignon — with reasonable carafes of wine. Can easily get pretty expensive, but the food is consistently excellent and on a slow night the bartenders will remember your face.

Great bar vibe, it's packed and loud, but in a good way. A Soho holdout that never disappoints! In a city where it's all too easy to feel alone, LS provides the cure.

If you are there before or by 6pm the noise in the back is low. It rises quickly to moderate to loud after that, even if in the back room.

Unpretentious environment, good bar food. Wait people are always pleasant and reasonably attentive. Food is such that I always leave feeling well and not too full or bloated. Only negative issue is that later in the evening when the space is very crowded, the sound level interferes with conversation.

Very average dinner experience. I had expected more from our food but it was very mediocre for the price. Service was great though. Attentive staff. Cute decor. That’s about it.

Lucky Strike used to be a staple on our rotation when we first moved to TriBeCa 10 years ago, but a combination of the long trek across Canal Street and so many alternatives somehow removed it from our regulars. With family in town and looking for a quintessentially New York experience, we found that a number of our usuals were closed for Christmas parties on a December Thursday night, and up flashed Lucky Strike. For old time's sake we thought we'd give it a try, and did we Strike Lucky! The restaurant was full to the brim with a rowdy holiday crowd. Not a good start, but we soon attuned to the noise level and began to relax over a very reasonably priced Californian Pinot Noir. Food was everything it always was. Burger done to perfection, my mother-in-law's lamb chops were two generous t-bones over perfect mash and wilted spinach, my seared tuna nicoise was sushi quality. Desserts were equally good, apple crumble and a burnt caramel sticky toffee pudding. Not much has changed since Keith McNally opened this place 30 years ago (including our waiter who remembered us from our previous frequenting) and that's not a bad thing. Pretty much the perfect example of a French bistro in New York City.

Food was fine until dessert when a mouse ran across the top our booth. The waiters didn’t seem to care nor did they apologize for the inconvenience... while I understand you can’t help these things in nyc (to an extent), it was still handled completely unprofessionally... seems like it was a common occurrence

Nothing bad to say about it, but I probably won’t be in a rush to return. The seating was quite uncomfortable for a group booking. Might be a good date spot.

Corner table (2 top) in the front window. Intimate. House made hummus, truffled teriyaki beef skewers, moules mariniére, Creme caramel, and Chivas 18 (double). All was very good. Ordered extra bread to finish off the wonderful sauces.

Our server must’ve been new, because he was very confused on a lot of things. Happy Hour prices were great, and the drinks we had were very worth it! On the other hand, our food was very blasé. I probably wouldn’t go back with all the other fantastic places to eat at in NYC.

We went to Lucky Strike for lunch on Monday, when the restaurant was fairly empty. The food was OK, although our fries were a little overdone and too crispy. After the meal, we asked for the drinks menu so my friend could order a whiskey. We were told there was no drinks menu, and the waitress pointed out the various whiskey bottles on the wall. After selecting Glenlivet, we were offered 3 choices: 12 year, 18 year or 30 year, but without any prices. As it was a special occasion, I suggested that my friend order the 30 year old. When we got the bill, we found out that single shot of whiskey was $125!!! It cost more than our entire meal, including the bottle of wine. Clearly we should have asked the prices before ordering, (and perhaps this is why Lucky Strike should have a drinks menu) but I never imagined a restaurant would serve such an exorbitantly priced drink without first letting the client know the price. If we had known, we would have ordered the 12 year instead. It ruined an otherwise enjoyable meal.
