Permanently Closed - L'ulivo Leicester Square
There is no better feeling then delivering a great service and knowing you guys are tucking into a great dish.
It begins in the kitchen with our carefully chosen ingredients, all freshly prepared within our premises - We love simple Italian cookery, nothing too la dee daa and complicated, but authentic, the way its cooked back home.
Our aim is to deliver the best Italian cuisine and service to our customers. Simply delicious dishes, served by people who simply love what they do. If you don"t believe what your reading feel free to talk to one of our staff, it's no problem, their love of Lulivo is a daily topic, the real problem will be to stop them afterwards!
It was closed but booking was still taken on Opentable
Booking was accepted by Opentable but was closed when we arrived
As I have already told you, this restaurant was closed (as in gone away, gone bust, when we arrived for our meal.
I am both flabbergasted and dumbstruck that you have the audacity to ask me for feedback on this establishment. We arrived at the restaurant to find it had shut down (many months ago!)
A great genuine Italian restaurant- good food and service. It was very busy albeit early in the evening- recommend booking. Nice for a family celebration and handy for before/after theatre meal
Good food prepared to a high standard, large portions, excellent service and a varied menu with something to suit all tastes
Very noisy and busy on this occasion and although we'd booked in advance we were shown to a table at the back near the bar and cooking area which was a bit disappointing as there was constant noise and raised conversation between waiters and chef.
Generally the service was helpful and the food is good traditional Italian fayre with generous sized portions.
The only disappointment was that there was no bar staff on duty, so sadly no cocktails. However, the staff managed to still whip up an Aperol. Excellent service and yummy food as always.
We have eaten at L'Ulivo at Leicester Square on a number of occasions and the food has never disappointed. If you like well-cooked, unpretentious, Italian food you will like this restaurant. The prices are not too bad either, considering the central London location. We will return, I am sure.
Good old style Italian restaurant. Staff were courteous, pleasant and efficient.
we have eaten pre theatre before .The food is very good . Unfortunately our meal was interrupted by lengthy table shuffling to fit a group of 10 . I could no longer ebven leave my seat .Not a word to us by way of explanation or apology and the ensuing noise gave us no option but to leave early .
Always visit when in London,we have been many times, and always great, even recommended to a Italian tourist as we left last Monday 10/12/2018
We arrived for our booking and were seated within 5 mins, only to be removed from the table and told that a family had been waiting 15 mins (with no booking) the manager kept telling all of his staff off and was extremely rude.
Nice food, served promptly. Pasta was great and sauces lovely. Had the cheeseboard and although it wasn't quite what was on teh menu it was amazing.
the food was lovely. the ambience was nice n lively. tiramisu n pana cotta v v good. the service was v person dependant and not v friendly. e.g. when i was struggling to get the pram out of the restaurant, the maitre de just stood there watching my struggles
2nd visit here lovely restaurant, food wonderful and staff lovely and very helpful will be back
The Calamari's starter was superb as was the pasta with smoked salmon and spinach. I also enjoyed the selection of beers and the house red. I will be booking again soon.
Great food, and not overpriced as you would expected from its location. A lot of choices.
Excellent venue, with quick and friendly service. I would definitely recommend.
Can be quite warm but a great atmosphere and great food
It's great place for a relaxed meal in Central London.
People were nice. Location convenient for meeting friends. Good at best so-so.
Waiters were slow. They charged me 12.5% of service charge from the full price and not the discounted taste card price.
Dinner took an hour and a half after the starter to arrive. When it did the order was wrong with missing sauces, and chorizo to a person who cant east chorizo. Also cutlery still have bits of spaghetti stuck in it from someone else's meal.
The kitchen staff were shouting at each other most of the time in full blown arguments. We were told one of the chefs did not show up for work, makes me wonder why they still filled the place then. If that's is the level of organisation I think I rather eat elsewhere.
The food its self was ok but nowhere near the amount we were being asked to pay.
All in all from a table of 8 people now one was impressed and all decided the cafe meal we had for lunch was far superior and a fraction of the cost.
The primary feature of this restaurant is its convenient location for pretheatre dining. Prices are moderate but no better than swankier eateries in the area. Service is hindered by well intentioned and friendly but inadequately trained service personnel — ordering a gin martini required explaining it to three different servers. Pastas were good. Caesar salad had more chicken than romaine lettuce, and the meat was dry and leathery.
A welcome breath of fresh air from all the overcrowded, overpriced chains in Leicester Square. This lovely restuarant feels family run, the food was delicious and tasted extremely fresh (Nonna's recipes?), very reasonable prices and portion sizes, cosy haven in bustling central London. Waiters gave us VIP service despite our bill only being GBP 20 each including a glass of wine. I will be back.
Authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Relaxed setting - attentive but unobtrusive service. Wine very pricey.
We went here at around 22:30 after seeing a musical.
It's located at very busy touristic area, but because of the time, it was quiet.
The service were nice, and the foods were better than we had expected.
Nothing special, but for after theatre dinners, considering there's limited options, I think this restaurant is reasonable.
Not bad but felt like a tourist trap of non authentic Italian with slow service and mediocre food
My review is for both the Leicester Square and Charing Cross L'Ulivo restaurants. We booked for the Leicester Square branch but when we got there they had been closed for filming unfortunately. The manager apologised and gave me a card to go to the Charing Cross restaurant which we went to and enjoyed just the same. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was tasty and enjoyable with a good cocktail to accompany. Highly recommended restaurant, will visit again.
Having booked a table for 7 at the restaurant we were most disappointed to find that the restaurant was occupied by film crew and closed to customers. We were told that we would be taken to their sister restaurant that was 3 minute walk away and that someone would accompany us. This was a pre-theatre meal. We were not told where their sister restaurant was and after walking for several minutes further away from the theatre we decided not to go any further and found an alternative place to eat close to the Theatre.
We are very disappointed that the restaurant made the decision not to contact us on the day to let us know that there was a change to the booking.
Another great meal. The food and Service are always great. If you are lucky enough
to be served by Christian he is fantastic.
Greeted at the door by everyone. Felt very homey. The service was paced out good. Food was very tasty and the portions were big. We shared the antipasto misto. The shrimp pasta had like 9 huge shrimp and a huge pile of spaghetti. Veal saltimbocca was very good. Would recommend.
Good tasty food and variety on the menu. However short staffed, service not great. Bar man was not there so no cocktails could be ordered from the menu! And all the cracked black pepper had finished! Poor.
Amazing restaurant! Never lets you down !
It’s our 3rd time here and we love it
Great food, service and ambience. Well located. Good value.
Another enjoyable meal here. Having been to the Villiers Street restaurant I thought we'd try Leicester Square.
Both places are very nice, food is good and the service is excellent.
Fantastic Restrauant. Made to feel welcome and were very accommodating. Food was amazing and the general atmosphere was very good. The staff were very friendly. Would definitely go back.
Was really impressed with the food & service here. Came for a family get-together. I wouldn’t normally eat at such a tourist hotspot, but this restaurant really is excellent and I’d highly recommend it!
