Lulworth Cove Inn
Set within a Natural World Heritage Site on the Jurassic Coast, the Lulworth Cove Inn is close to some stunning coastal scenery including Lulworth Cove.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept online table bookings for our outdoor tables.
It's a very nice venue. Staff are helpful and polite, but at busy times you need more staff as we had to wait along time for our Sunday lunch! Although very nice when we got it. My 6 year old grandson enjoyed his roast pork and wanted to thank the chef . Visited again for Friday dinner and had ordered the Rump steak special which was a very poor decision.
Simple but good quality food
Cooked well and served with a smile
Excellent wine list
Absolutely amazing experience, great service, great food, great location and an amazing escape.. thank you to all the team.
Pleasant meal, friendly staff. Great location for a place to relax after a days walking.
Staff were polite. Had to wait 45 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was luke warm. Not what we were expecting.
The pub has a great ambiance but our experience was marred by the wait for and temperature of our food. Not in a great hurry to return. Sorry.
We were staying at the Inn for three nights and booked our table for the first night. It was so good we ate here every night! The beef and wild mushroom stew was a particular hit!
We've been going every year for six years as an end of holiday treat. Since our last visit the menu has changed - the Cumberland ring can only be described as a chipolata bend, the custard provided for a very sour crumble was luke warm, and my 17 year old son was refused a drink with his main meal due to local policies even though in law he can. I asked the waitress for three different drinks which I was told they didn't have yet when I went to the bar to choose something, two were available.
We are more of a take-away family but enjoy family time having a family meal while on holiday.
We will be enjoying next years meal at a Bistro just down the lane.
We stayed at the Inn on valentines day and had a great time. We stayed in the superior double room with balcony and the bed was a super king, and there was a roll top bath in the room as well . In the bathroom there was a shower too. From the balcony you see the sea. There were nice shower gels, soap and shampoo and conditioner, and loads of towels too.
Very friendly service and efficient service and accommodating with the dog, lovely pub and location.
Very comfortable pub, food excellent for traditional food.
I would most certainly recommend the hotel and bar for a drink but not the restaurant for food.
Relaxing but good food
Service was good
I was very disappointed with the attitude of what was obviously a manager. His treatment of young, new staff in front of customers was deplorable! The food was well below par. The young staff were excellent.
The Cove Inn was friendly and welcoming, however, part of the reason for choosing this restaurant was it's wide choice of vegetarian dishes, so we were very disappointed to find both the vegetarian special and the most interesting vegetarian dish on the menu were not available. This meant the usual limited vegetarian choice that we have become used to.
The food that we finally ordered was delicious and beautifully cooked and we will no doubt visit again.
Did not enjoy the experience. Waited over an hour for starters, when it came our croquettes were still frozen in the middle! We eventually got our mains and they were Luke warm. Coffee order was also wrong, had a word with the manager who knocked off the price off the starter and one main meal. Will not return here for food.
Special Xmas eve meal for 6 family members. Starters were good but tofu salad was very poor and fish and chips left off order so had to wait. Very apologetic but no money off bill. Overall disappointing meal for a special occasion
Good relaxed atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Fish and chips were lovely - fresh fish and light, crispy beer batter.
Food was well cooked and the staff were very attentive. However, of the three courses I ordered, which were repeated back to me by the waitresses, only one I received consisted of what I asked for. For example: there were two soups on the menu, winter vegetable and spiced lentil and carrot. I asked for the winter veg but received the spiced lentil and carrot . Because waiting staff left us alone between courses, which was nice really as I hate being bombarded with questions while I am eating, and I don't like to complain, I gave up trying to attract someone's attention to ask about the mistake and ate the soup, even though it really was too hot and spicy for me and I certainly wouldn't have chosen it, particularly as the main course I had ordered was a lentil-based dish. When the pudding I received turned out to be not what i ordered either, I decided that the kitchen staff were unable to interpret whatever the waitresses were writing down on their notepads. The vegetarian main course I had was very tasty.
Despite having made it clear that we were veggies, we were told that we could have neither of the meal that we ordered. For some reason, this was later changed us being able to have the meals we originally ordered. A bit of a weird one TBH. The staff were nice enough but the food was so so.
Food was delicious. I chose slow cooked chicken leg and my husband had the award winning pie. However we were disappointed when, having chosen and ordered my dessert - roulade - I was told (after 10 Minutes) it wasn’t available . I then chose syrup sponge. Five minutes later was told that too was not available. We were the first couple in the restaurant for lunch so how could 2 desserts not be available? My other gripe was that the waitress should always tell customers what is not available on the menu before we start to make our choice. Having said that, the staff were all very courteous and did make us feel welcome.
Very friendly atmosphere, very friendly staff, good well prepared food in a great setting!
Good and friendly service, nice food and great idea to have mini puddings in the menu: we tried the coffee and walnut mini panacotta and it was great. Nice atmosphere on a Friday evening given that it was end of November. We like the Lulworth Cove Inn and always go back when visiting Lulworth.
A lovely experience in a nice environment. Lulworth Cove is beautiful too so I recommend a stay in the Lulworth Cove Inn to take advantage of the fantastic walks around the coastline. We got back from our walk feeling hungry and the evening meal did not disappoint. Really good!
Lovely food at reasonable price in a great setting. Good location.
One of my favourite pubs, great location and great food
The food was exceptional and far exceeded expectations and the service was delightful.
I showed up an hour before my booking and rather cheekily asked if it was possible to move it forward slightly as the exploring of the cove and weather left us a bit tired and wet, and we fancied eating a bit earlier. And although busy due to Sunday lunch the waitress very kindly organised us a table as we got our drinks and within fifteen minutes we were sat having ordered our food and enjoying a drink. The atmosphere was lovely, the inn caters to families and there were ever some well behaved dogs which was a treat ( I love pets and pubs that can cater from them in a manner that doesn’t hinder service)
Perfect meal, great atmosphere, wonderful service.
The Lulworth cove inn gets very busy, best to book well in advance. Food and service very good.
We had a 5 day break in Lulworth Cove and ate here 3 times we liked it so much! Great Sunday lunch and the normal menu was lovely too, comfortable surroundings and outstanding service. Every member of staff we met was friendly, chatty and attentive without being intrusive. Would highly recommend!
The food was very tasty nice size portion & Service was excellent
Busy Sunday so Service was a bit slow but staff are very nice just very busy.
We returned after having spent a great weekend there last year and it did not diappoint at all! Fabulous place but can be a little noisy if you stay overnight.
During our stay in Lulworth Cove we visited Lulworth Cove Inn three times, once for an evening meal, once for a quick drink stop and finally Sunday lunch. The food was fantastic, we both had brilliant main meals and the chocolate brownie was so tasty! The Sunday lunch was also fantastic, a plate full of fresh veg and yummy beef. The staff were really friendly and the service was brilliant. we enjoyed our window table looking out to the sea :)
A bit disappointed..food ok but nothing to rave about.
Ordered drinks the wrong tonic came, simple mistake. Ordered the food , the waitress said was a good choice. My food arrived what I can only say was black on the top of the fish. The meal arrives by the manager. I stopped the waitress that took my order to ask if this was meant to look like this, she quickly took it away and said no, not at all, who gave you the food I said the manager. She then asked if I wanted the same again or the fish cakes. I said whichever comes first. The manger came over 15 mins later and told me that they had just changed the menu. My fish cakes arrived which was two big fish cakes with a tiny bit of Provençal sauce. Half way thru my meal I realised that there was hardly any haddock in mostly potato and spinach. The manager asked if it was ok, I replied not great. He walked away just saying thank you. The plates were taken away. We were asked if we wanted dessert. Me and my daughter were sharing so ordered sticky toffee pudding. My other daughter had ice cream. We were sat close to the ordering till and could see reflections of the staff in the window. Twice I heard one of the waitresses laugh about different tables. Then the manager came out of the kitchen went to the order till said something to the waitress and both burst out laughing then picked up the dessert menu to come to my table and say they had run out of sticky toffee pudding. Offered us other alternatives. I just said no the bill, as I was feeling very uncomfortable by the attitude of the staff. Bill came he said he had taken off the bread. I then said I would have expected my main course to be taken off and outlined to him that his staff needs to be more careful. I stupidly paid for the full amount and left feeling very very upset, to the point I phoned my husband in tears. Even my daughters aged 11 pointed out to me how rude they were in there. I was made to feel as if my table was a joke. Not impressed at all.
Fish stew. Have the fish stew! We loved the menu but we were gutted that we had no room for a dessert! The staff were lovely and it had a good wine list.
My partner had the left over roast. Dry! My balti pie was burnt & sent back. Another one came but was very dry. Not happy. Service was good but not asked if we enjoyed our meal but my meal was not charged for. Which help digest my not so happy birthday dinner.
Fantastic food at hall and wood house lulworth cove inn
Food and service immaculate
Very good food and attentive staff. A very enjoyable Sunday lunchtime experience in excellent surroundings, thank you.
We had a good choice of food and drinks. The service was excellent. We would recommend this pub for an evening meal and will be going back next visit to Lulworth. It is necessary to book in advance.
We had a lovely meal and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Service excellent. A very pleasant evening.
