While many Indian Restaurants now use short-cuts in their cookery, the chefs at Ma Goa are proud of the fact that each of their dishes are cooked individually, The Kitchen is very much a Family operation - Ma still cooks most mornings while Dee's three children contribute ideas and love to help the chefs!
In 2017, the Kapoor family did a complete overhaul of their successful eatery. Adding a craft beer tap wall and replacing the white table cloths with a rustic, marketplace interior, they have brought Ma Goa back to its roots: fuss-free, authentic food straight from the streets of India.

Great service and delicious food, highly recommended!
Fantastic food. Brilliant service. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend
We do like our visits to Ma Goa, but they continue to be more on the infrequent side based on the exorbitant prices. It's a great place but not really value for money. Service is mixed based on which staff member you talk to. The beers are way too expensive considering they are sold as stubbies (large glasses). If it wasn't local, then I don't think we'd travel often to go there
Second time I've been to M Goa and love it. Food excellent and fabulous wine from the vintners next door. Will be back
A very welcome antidote to the regular Indian restaurant, sporting an individual style that isn't far removed from beach bar/shack. Even at 7.30 mid-week, the place was doing good business, always a good sign. The food was excellent, and certainly had a home-cooked feel about it; my shrimp and aubergine curry was very good, as was an aloo side dish. My friend's lamb-shank dish had a rich, full-on, spiciness that felt very authentic. Service was very efficient, and food arrived promptly.
On the down side, (1) please don't serve papadums with the relishes already spread on them. Who does that? (2) I had a gorgeous draft beer (Big Wave), but if it's draft (that's what it said on the menu), don't understand why's it served in 1/3 and 2/3 pint quantities. This is England, I'm old-school, and we drink pints! (3) Prices are certainly at the high end of average. Thirty-five for one main, a veggie side, some papads and 4/3 pint of beer.
Simply the best , food service music everything fantastic
Been here a few times and it’s the tastiest Indian food in the West!
One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Superb food, brilliant staff.
I’m Indian heritage and this is the finest Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in London. Excellent cuisine and overall extremely nice place.
The food was just too spicy as we asked for medium spiciness. My daughter could not finish her plate, burning her throat. Furthermore, she asked without coriander and it came topped with coriander.
But the food is very good in general.
We will still eat there.
Food is wonderful! Outside tables nice to sit at on summer evening. Also fab that you can buy wine form wine sop next door if special occasion.
My absolute favourite restaurant in Putney. Great environment, great service, and most importantly, incredible food!!
Great as usual, excellent food, good lively atmosphere, good choice of drinks.
One of the nicest Indian Style meals we have ever eaten - it's worth just going there for the lamb chops which were to die for ! Great place.
Great food, simply lovely. Small neat unfussy place
i don't write reviews so please accept this fact mmm
Excellent service and food
Great food. Great service. Great Indian restaurant.
Great food, good service, lovely atmosphere. Surprise birthday treat for my husband was lovely. Chocolate samosas a highlight!
Totally amazing lamb shank curry, great depth of flavour meat falling off the bone. The paratha equally as delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant
The food was good and varied, although not particularly spicy. Generally fine but could be more flavoursome. Main problem was the noise level which caused us to have to leave after maincourse
Been going for 25 years and can understand why. Great flavours and menu relaxed friendly service
Excellent food; great service - thoroughly recommend
Good service and food. Very nice service. Would go(a)gain :)
Amazing food, relaxed setting and great service
delicious, authentic food with layers of flavor and well developed heat
Been coming to Ma Goa for many years and it just goes on getting better and better. Service now does justice to the fabulous food and the ambience is bang on.
Top class food in a relaxed setting, with friendly staff and good craft beers
Absolutely top quality food, but music so loud we couldn’t really talk. Asked to lower volume, which they did but shortly after back to loud. Shame as the food was outstanding.
Good food, good ambience and excellent service. Ma Goa is not your usual Indian restaurant. Worth a visit if you are looking for a local restaurant in Putney and you will get a satisfying dining experience.
Excellent Indian Cuisine. I would not hesitate to recommend Ma Goa for delicious food . I hope that I return soon
Three work colleagues had a fabulous meal at MaGoa. The pork vindaloo is authentic and not just rammed with chilli.
Able to cater for a gluten-free diner no problem and friendly staff managed to balance being attentive without being intrusive.
Dee was on hand personally to take orders and advise on choices from the refreshingly limited menu (meaning that dishes are of exceptional quality)
We had a great evening and will become regulars over our forthcoming robustness trips to Putney
Lovely place to eat the staff were very good. Food was very good especially the lamb chops delicious
Really loved it. The menu felt fresh and modern but with a number of 'classic' dishes which people go back to order. Relaxed atmosphere but also efficient. Food arrived pronto and staff around and on hand and quick with the bill but didn't push us to leave. Really excellent.
Fantastic experience, unique and delicious food, good service given how busy it was on a Friday night and an energetic ambience. Ma Goa is a place I like to take my London hosts as a thank you whenever I'm in staying and it has become a special place for us.
I thoroughly enjoy visiting Ma Goa, Putney, having been there on and off for more than a decade. On this occasion, virtually every table was occupied and the noise level had become rather intrusive. Perhaps I am just getting a bit old?! There are ways of dampening noise in these circumstances, and it might be worth management considering them.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
Great service and lovely food. Laid back ambience and very pleasant time was had. Thank you.
Great restaurant. Really friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Nice to have a modern twist to the traditional Indian menu and decor. Delicious food, although my male friend thought the portions were a little small! It was certainly sufficient for me.
