While many Indian Restaurants now use short-cuts in their cookery, the chefs at Ma Goa are proud of the fact that each of their dishes are cooked individually, The Kitchen is very much a Family operation - Ma still cooks most mornings while Dee's three children contribute ideas and love to help the chefs!
In 2017, the Kapoor family did a complete overhaul of their successful eatery. Adding a craft beer tap wall and replacing the white table cloths with a rustic, marketplace interior, they have brought Ma Goa back to its roots: fuss-free, authentic food straight from the streets of India.

We had an absolutely delicious dinner on a Sunday evening to celebrate my birthday. Good service and exquisite food. Would definitely recommend!
Always a great meal. Out meat eaters were very happy especially with the lamb shank, and the vegetarians in the crowd thoroughly satisfied as well.
Great as always. The people who run it are incredibly accommodating and the food is always fantastic. Not your typical Indian restaurant
I always think the quality of the food is excellent. However, I regret the absence of starched white table cloths and napkins and also the increasing level of noise. I am not keen on the new range of beers and would prefer the Indian Cobra or Kingfisher.
Amazing food and amazing service!! really impressed with the quality of food and will definitely return.
Delicious, fresh and exceedingly tasty goan inspired food. The Lamb Kofta specials were divine.
Good food and great service, we had a lovely time there
Absolutely amazing every time! Favourite Indian restaurant!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious although a little on the pricey side. Great place to get together with friends and the staff were very accommodating with our last minute booking.
Lovely little restaurant. Staff very attentive and polite, and the food was really really tasty!!!
Amazing food, superb service, friendly staff and the only way this isn’t 100/100 is they happen to be in Upper Richmond Road which is quite noisy when you’re outside. Still I love going there, and the food is in my experience the best Indian in London.
Very busy restaurant with a lively atmosphere, also had an outside seating area at back of restaurant. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Food served without much waiting. Very tasty and good sized portions. Would go again when in booking he area.
Great food and service. Love that you can bring a bottle of wine in from the wine bar next door if you want a larger selection that the standard menu. Good modern interior and selection of food choices too. Would definitely recommend a visit.
We have been to your restaurant about 3 times now, every time is excellent!
Delicious food the waiters and very kind and helpful.Very beautiful ambient inside and terrace so cosy.
We will back soon
Great menu - charming people
We had a very enjoyable evening, but unfortunately, as with so many restaurants nowadays it is very noisy! As we are now in our 70s our hearing is not great. However, it was good to see so many young people there, and to imbibe the atmosphere. We hadn’t been to the restaurant for many years, and it’s good to see that it is still very popular!
excellent place given new look and cuisine better than ever. knowledgeable and friendly family proprietor always helpful. best indian in putney
Without a doubt, the best Indian food I have tasted! Authentic, delicious and excellent presentation. A friendly and relaxed atmosphere with attentive and pleasant staff.
I cannot fault the evening which catered perfectly for our family. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening.
The food, advertised as being authentic food from Goa, was disappointing. The pork in the vindaloo was overcooked and the spicing was murky and indistinct - it could have been a generic curry paste. The lamb cutlets were skimpy and unremarkable; perhaps they should have been shown to the grill to give a slight texture on the outer surface. The pudding course was also disappointing - there was no kulfi and the mango sorbet that was offered as a replacement was not available (at 7:45 on a Saturday evening). The service was, at best, perfunctory; different people took different parts of the order so there was no continuity and a question asked about a possible allergy was never answered.
The ambience was noisy rendering communication difficult but not impossible (we were treated to some salacious details from the conversation at the next table). Definitely not the place for an intimate date - thank heavens ours wasn't!
It was our first visit and we all loved it. We will be back!
We've been going to Ma Goa for donkeys' years - but this was the first time we've visited since they've completely changed the menu, layout and décor, and are offering a brilliant mixture of street food and innovative Indian dining in a very relaxed atmosphere. No more white table cloths, but still linen napkins on the quirky laminated? tables with vibrant decoration around the restaurant. The approach attracts youngsters as well as us oldies, and makes for an ideal venue to get together with old pals for some lovely Ma Goa food. Youngsters in and out in an hour, while we put the world to rights over 2+ hours - a perfect Friday night!
Really nice indian , friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Recommend
Good restaurant with good veggie and some vegan options.
Great service, nice setting if a little utilitarian since the refit. Trendy looking, but not the most comfortable.
Food was good too. Reasonably good value for money. Good flavours.
One of best meals i have had in ages. Dont often get Goan curry and this was excpetional. Service was great and food delicious. Porco vindaloo just right a nice kick and not crazy.
Good service, nice staff, food came quickly, defo value for money
Love this find in Putney would highly recommend! Will be returning
Lovely local restaurant, authentic and spicy Indian food. Very charming service and interesting beers
Lovely food and revamped menu delicious and service charming. Only teeny niggle is that it is a bit hot! Thoroughly recommend
The restaurant had changed since our last visit and one half remained a restaurant and the other half more a craft beer bar and my son was delighted as he is a craft beer fan. The restaurant food was delicious and we enjoyed it very much.
Great food, try the Papadum with dips!
Good options of beer.
Lovely customer service.
I have been there many times and this time was with friends who had not visited before. As usual everything was outstanding. They were very impressed with everything and I am sure will visit again
Staff are brilliant, food is fantastic and a lovely atmosphere, really enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner here!
I love Ma Goa - the food is immense. The only issue I have is with the price of alcohol, particularly the beer. It is overpriced and often in half pints for the price of a normal pint in other curry houses. Could do with a bit of background music.
The staff are great and so is the food so despite these small grumbles I will continue going here everytime I feel like a curry. The lamb dishes are superb.
The food is fantastic, lots of subtle flavours with just the right level of heat to enhance but not overwhelm other flavours. Great setting and service. The kicker to the experience is the wine shop next door called Glug. Owned by the same people I recommend you go in before your meal. You can sample a couple of wines with the very knowledgeable Ben who will guide you to the best bottle or two that will suit your dining experience. It is all a bit special. Enjoy.
Good service, and a different take on your usual curry house, more like cuisine in some respects. An unusual selection of beers rather than the usual Cobra/ Kingfisher offerings.
Slightly more expensive rather than your usual curry house but worth it for the tasty food on offer.
'Amazing' food, enjoyed everything - we ordered a load of different things between 3 of us and every single thing was exceptionally tasty.
1st time at this restaurant. Overall very enjoyable and will certainly return. Very good food, nice people running the place, lively ambience (verging on a little noisy), reasonably priced.
A really enjoyable experience with delicious food, wine, a fun and lively atmosphere and excellent service. A fresh and original take on a traditional Indian meal: super quality of the food with a wide selection of fresh and tasty dishes . They also recommended some wonderful wines to go with our meal. Thanks for a great evening, we'll be back soon!
We have been dining here from the first days this family-run welcoming restaurant opened. It has maintained the highest standards of authentic Goan (Portuguese-influenced) cuisine throughout all those years. Every dish is a gem, with the spices and herbs finely balanced so that all the subtle flavours are allowed to shine through. From delicate starters, through a wide spectrum of main courses to far-too tempting deserts, they never seem to put a foot wrong. There is an excellent, modestly-priced wine list (including some excellent Portuguese wines - ) and beers if the sensitivity of your taste-buds demands it. If this sounds "over the top", but if you appreciate lovingly prepared food from the sub-continent, you must go there and be convinced.
