Macellaio RC Exmouth Market
Here, Roberto decides to take a step forward and introduces Bluefin tuna from Sicily to the equation and, it is extremely important to understand that this choice wasn’t made by hazard: the tuna is the only animal from the sea that has warm blood, like our Fassona cow. Moreover, and in general terms, both types of meat can be culinarily treated in a very similar way.
This way our menu is a “mirror” of itself: you can enjoy a beef tartare or a tuna tartare, a beef steak or a tuna steak. For us, are now the same!
And as in the first one, every product offered in our restaurant is the fruit of a meticulous work of artisans and farmers loyal to traditions, with whom we share the “Italian passion”.
Our beef and tuna tell the story of the people behind them and their passions, come and try it for yourself!

The table was awfully small. We orded two starters and they couldn’t fit one the table. The portions were extremely small and the skirt stake was not tasty. Nevertheless the staff were very warm and friendly. Once we complained, the manager came to apologize offering another steak free of charge.
Amazing beef, steak tartare and rib of beef were superb. Sides were expensive for what they were, we wished we had order more beef instead. Service was ok but not exceptional.
Good food but a little overpriced for what you got.
The Burrata was lovely but could have done with some bread or salads. The steak was incredibly tasty but not cheap and the portions were quite small.
Service was a little scatty but the staff were all very pleasant.
This was the first time at this Macellaio restaurant. We have previously been at Macellaio in South Ken and found that one great, both service and food!
We tried this one and while the food was unbelievably great as always, the service was a bit less attentive as the one in South Ken. Would definitely go back there but I hope that service can get to the same level as the other one.
Nice restaurant and nice food & service.
We have found it to be a little too expensive, more than £140 for a t-bone steak and a bottle of regular wine and 2 sides, is a bit excessive.
Cena deliziosa! Carne italiana di alta qualità e personale gentilissimo e preparatissimo. Bravi!!
Fantastic food. Great service and wine. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great experience, great service, nice atmosphere and one of the best steaks I've ever tried.
We enjoyed our visit. Third time already... that says a lot I believe.
We went to Marcellio for the first time on a Friday night with friends. Great atmosphere, buzzy. Love the meat in the counter at the entrance. Interesting wine list. Food was very, very good. The 2 chaps in the group being total meat heads could not make a decision with the meat choices and offel on offer. We will be back for them to try more! We ordered far too many starters to share as a consequence! The downside unfortunately was the service - there are loads of waiting staff, apparently waiting for a train, not looking after tables..... Took ages to get a drink on arrival - first rule of restaurants methinks, get them a drink and the menu and customers are usually happy for ages and then don't notice if the service is unduly slow. We were not in a hurry. We had lots to chat to our friends about, but even so the service was inattentive. In fact we had plates put on the table, by one waiter, removed by another, put back and then removed again. Maybe we have missed the comedic point?? Anyway, don't let that hinder a visit. If you like steak, its worth it. We will definitely return. Hint, maybe order 2 bottles of wine when you sit down.....
Great place, food is relatively well priced but very good meat! Will be back very soon...
This is the second time i’ve beensto the restaurant. The first time was in the evening, the place was buzzing, the food great - I took a business colleague from Florence, Italy who reckoned the meat was better than the meat we always indulge in when we are in Florence. Hence my desire to return taking my son in law for lunch.
It was 1.15 - I was the only customer in the restaurant - a couple more turned up later, I felt sorry for the staff - very soul destroying.
The meat was great, the spinach came up cold although with no other customers not sure why. Dessert was good -
The manager was very attentive and chatty, but with the restaurant being empty, the dining experience was not good. Which was a shame as I know this is a great restaurant .
I would suggest the owners review their lunchtime menu and add some lower price items of create a lunchtime menu which will attract more diners.
I’m a fan - but won’t return at lunchtime until they sort out getting more people in.
Great food, great service and a busy atmosphere! The waiting staff explained the differences and what they would recommend. What a great night!!
The waiter was very attentive and informative about the menu however the layout of the restaurant is very cafe style. The tables are packed in so much that one can barely move between for fear of knocking things over. There was hardly any space for the starters when they arrived as the tables are so small that we put the wine bottle on the steps beside me.
It does not lead to an intimate setting as you are so near to the other diners you can hear their conversations. A great shame as to maximize covers one ruins the atmosphere.
Maccellaio is the perfect place for a friendly get-together or a cosy date (if you‘re not a vegetarian ). The meat is extraordinarily good and the service is outstanding.
Very good ambience, attentive and friendly staff, outstanding quality of the meat served excellent wine list.
an excellent selection of Italian meat specials with a great wine list
First time at Macellaio’s and would definitely go back, the food was delicious with a good range of food and wine. The portion size was slightly on the small side but the taste made up for it. Would recommender the tuna tartare with Gorgonzola to start. Wine was delicious and the menu fits the wine for how you like your meat cooked.
Many Italians ate there when we visited. The T-bone steak was good (and generally the meat dishes are above average). The fish (ceviche) and the cheese were mediocre only.
We went on New Year's Eve and had a great evening. The food is very specific as you pick up in other reviews - basically Tuna or Beef apart from a couple of other options.
Very tasty and interesting choices. I think the wine is a bit punchy in terms of mark up and definitely on the 3x end, but fairly typical for London. Think that they could do with a good house red and white.
Staff are friendly and attentive, and overall we had a good evening.
Only dark point was trying to be moved on from our table well below the2hours slot they say you have but quickly made up for with free coffees.
The food was exquisite, especially the gluten free chocolate cake. The rump steak comes in a very small sized portion which should probably be highlighted on the menu.
Overpriced, poor quality, bland food coupled with lousy, indifferent service. One of our most disappointing meals in London.
I was getting a bit fed up with restaurants which charged a fair amount of money for rather indifferent food and coming away feeling that I had been short changed. I really liked the food in Macellaio, none of it was less than very good and I felt that it had been worth every penny.
Great North Italian carniverous cuisine. Helpful and attentive service.
When I booked Macellaio I was expecting really great meat and great food in general!
It was not bad at all but a bit ordinary for the price. An ordinary dinner when I was expecting a bit more.
Macellaio Exmouth Market - a friends' reunion. Just a great place to get together, with some of the best steak and tuna in London - the rib steak is just magnificent. Love the Barbera D'Asti too. Completely recommended for great food, ambience and warmth.
Service was fairly poor, food was okay. Appetisers a bit too small.
They absolutely know how to treat and served you with a remarkable steak to your taste.
Quite simply the best meat I have ever had (and I'm not a big meat-eater). Friendly and laid-back atmosphere, ingredients of great quality, great wine list. This is real Italian cuisine as its best. I'll definitely be back.
Still good, but lost of a bit of the original magic. Feels more polished and commercial than it used to, less of an experience.
Very good food. I went for full tuna: starter then main. Good service. Sides and deserts are good too.
We had to wait half an hour for our table, in a through way next to the fridges.
The music was loud and mostly retro 80s including Cher, Wham, Toto and Lionel Ritchie.
The tiramisu consisted of a few lumps of hard biscuit drenched in watery custard.
interesting space with the most tasty food.
perfectly matured beef.
will go again, soon.
Probably the best meats and shukruteri in London.
Don’t look any further
Yet another fantastic meal at Macellaio!
While the quality of food and it's tastiness is all good and our main waitress lovely, tuna main courses are tiny- more entree size and cheese presented without bread or biscuits. It was not good value at all.
It's a bad choice as a non red meat eater to go to this restaurant.
We are meat lovers so went there for the steak, which was superb. The starters were fantastic too, so overall very happy with the food. left me with a touch a bitter taste when i got the bill and discovered that I was charged £42 for 1 liter of red wine (2 x 0.5 l caraffa ). when we placed our orders I asked the guy to suggest some red but i specified i didn't want anything too expensive. He should have warn me about the cost, i wasn't ready for that price, i must say it did put me off a bit...
Samsung place for meat lovers. Gives a very traditional vibe. Service was okay, seating was a bit cramped, but the food was great.
