Manicomio - Chelsea
Manicomio Chelsea opened its doors in 2003. It is set on the buzzy Duke of York Square, set back from Sloane Square and the iconic Kings Road. Housed in a historic Grade II listed building that was formerly the Royal military asylum- the origin of Manicomio’s playful name (Italian for madhouse).
Renowned for serving simple yet elegant Italian food in the attractive dining room, bar and – weather permitting- the expansive terrace. The adjoining Manicomio Café offers a pared-down version of the restaurant’s menu- available to enjoy in either the café, conservatory, courtyard or terrace or as take away.
Manicomio’s enthusiastic passion for all things Italy- with a strong focus on provenance, quality and taste - has seen the Manicomio family grow to two more successful sites, each with their own identity- Manicomio in St Pauls and Canto Corvino in Spitalfields.

Great place in great location.
The food was good. I would recommend to anyone.
Really lovely setting outside in the back area, was slightly more quiet and peaceful than the front. Had the Monkfish and it was beautifully cooked, also they have a lovely win selection.
Really friendly and attentive service, perfect place for a summer nights dinner.
Chicken liver starters were very tasty and both of us were very pleased with our main courses. Always good quality food and great service, outdoor dining makes it extra special.
Manicomio Cafe Bar is a delightful eatery. The locattion is ideal with choices of outdoor dinning. The staff absolutely dedicated and have a great knowledge of the food they are serving. I always recommend it to friends comng or living in Chelsea. Haver been a regular over he years.
The terrace is a great place to enjoy a meal in the summer.
Quite pricey. Service a bit haphazard and food not as good as I remembered
not cheap, but always good food and great ambience.
Main course took over 30 mins to be served
The food was good most importantly the service I felt was excellent, charming helpful staff. Will definitely come back.
Wonderful experience apart from the attitude of the host
Food fantastic and waiting staff very friendly and attentive, but not overbearing.
Chilled atmosphere in the outside area
Memorable Lobster Caesar Salad ! Excellent service.
Love the food and the staff are literally the best. My favourite local restaurant.
Service wasn't great, waitor was storing wine in ice bucket far from the table and kept forgetting to pour it, but other than that everything was nice. Lovely first meal out of lockdown. Would recommend it and definitely go again.
Fabulous restaurant, wonderful attentive staff. Small menu but if you like Italian it will hit the spot! Not a great choice if you are vegan unfortunately as there are very limited dishes to choose but overall the pasta was fine.
Food was definitely not worth the money, it was nice food but not a lot of it!! Service was moderate overall, but what saved it was one outstanding waitress, didn’t manage to get her name though. Outside seating area is really nice!!
Outdoor seating was absolutely perfect on a glorious day. The ambiance was great. The wine was rather expensive.
Overall it was a good experience.
Lovely atmosphere, food was very good , service was excellent, Value for money , I would recommend for anyone looking to have a classy evening / night out .
It’s a very pleasant place to have a drink and meet-up with friends. Very nice terrace that was not too crowded ( due to Covid?). Everybody was nice helpful and welcoming. However food was somewhat disappointing and really not delicious. Overall okay if what you are looking for is a nice terrace and a few drinks and food is not so important.
Great Italian food, friendly staff and a great setting.
Waiters made as waiting for wages, just to have the food menu, same to be served a tab water. Food was OK but too pricy regarding its quality
V helpful staff - food better than the menu suggests. Nice atmosphere
Amazing carbonara and service
Amazing staff. We had an unfortunate incident whereby we fell for the oldest trick in the book with a phone stealing gypsy and they did all they could to help. Called the police, security etc. Really nice people who care about their patrons.
Food and wine was delicious too. Great place.
Really great food and service. Did however request an outdoor space but was given a table in the sheltered conservatory type area. I’d have preferred to see the staff wearing masks as they are in close proximity. All in all I’d come back.
Wonderful to be back! And I look forward to the next time
Raspberry pancakes came minus raspberries and then a small bowl eventually provided with five raspberries between two people! Irritating.
Patchy service, but gracious. The experience was not up to the usual high standards we have experienced over the years at Manicomio.
Wonderful all around! They all accommodate our twins exceptionally well!
Great food, friendly staff and a beautiful setting
it was very nice to return to Manicomio after lockdown
i think the waiters should have worn face masks and been rather more thorough on any sanitising
Excellent food and ambience. Outside dining was very enjoyable.
Lovely staff and nice to be out at a restaurant again
Great evening. Social distancing was well observed and the staff were carefull. Great night. Highly recommended.
Manicomio did exceptionally well on the first day out of Lockdown! Staff were friendly, polite & efficient with priority towards hygiene. Food was excellent and service beyond reproach.
Really poor service. with very average food. Not an enjoyable night.
I always love this restaurant,it is just perfect for a rendezvous. Great food and service.
How disappointing... the standard of food does not reflect the cost
The staff where lovely, ambience a little flat
Spent £180 on a birthday meal for two that was just dreadful
Will NOT be returning
Delicious food, wine and ambiance. A favourite!
Great for pre theatre
The ambience/environment/lighting is very comfortable and inviting.
The food was delicious
The service was attentive.
The set menu was very good value and suited all tastes.
